Ivy's POV
As I walked slowly toward Sabastian, a rush of excitement surged through me, each step feeling both exhilarating and terrifying. I could feel my heart pounding, a buoyant rhythm echoing in my ears, but I tried my hardest to keep my expression neutral, careful to hide the fluttering in my stomach.
The world around us faded into a soft blur, colors blending together while my focus sharpened solely on him. I noticed the way the light reflected off his hair, the way he seemed entirely at ease, and it made my pulse quicken even more. I couldn't help but wonder if he could sense the energy radiating off me.
With every calculated movement, I reminded myself to breathe. There was something about his presence that made my mind race like I was standing at the edge of a cliff, exhilarated by the view yet terrified of the jump. I wanted to crack a smile, to let him see how much I was looking forward to this moment, but I fought the urge, instead wrapping my thoughts in a blanket of calm.
As I closed the distance between us, I focused on the mundane details, the soft sound of my shoes against the ground, the warmth of the sun on my back but still, the thrill bubbled beneath the surface, waiting for just the right moment to burst forth.
"What are you doing here?" I asked
"I felt you wanted to see me," He answered.
"See you?" I asked, "What do you mean by you felt?"
"Let's say I just had an intuition that you wanted to see me, and well, here I am."
"You're very funny... and creepy, but mostly funny," I laughed. "But I guess you could say I wanted to see you. You're sure an interesting character, I was thinking you'd become a part of my evening routine."
"I see you got your tires fixed," He said.
"Yes," I said with a faint smile on my face.
"So, does this mean we won't be walking back to your place again?" He asked, a hint of disappointment on his face.
"Well... you can ride with me, only if you like," I said. "I'm leaving anyway."
"Sure."
As I slid into the driver's seat, a wave of warmth enveloped me. Sabastian settled beside me, and the space between us felt charged with an energy I didn't quite understand. The familiar scent of my car mixed with the faint trace of his cologne, creating an atmosphere that was both comforting and exhilarating.
I felt a shy smile tugging at my lips as I adjusted the rearview mirror, using it as an excuse to steal a glance at him. His relaxed posture and the way he casually ran a hand through his hair made my heart flutter. I couldn't help but let my mind wander, imagining what it would be like to spend more moments like this, just the two of us.
The engine roared to life, and as I pulled out onto the street, I found myself sneaking glances at him, captivated by his every subtle move. The way his gaze drifted out the window, taking in the familiar scenery while a soft smile lingered on his face made me feel like I was witnessing a private moment—a glimpse of his thoughts.
With each turn, I fought to keep my focus on the road, but my heart seemed to betray me, yearning to memorize every detail of him beside me. I could see the way the sunlight danced across his features, highlighting the contours of his jaw and the softness of his expression.
"Do you always drive like this?" He teased, snapping me back to reality.
I laughed lightly, "Sometimes I get distracted." My cheeks flushed, realizing how true that was feeling at this moment.
As we drove through the streets, the world outside faded into a blur, leaving just the sound of music softly playing in the background and the thrill of his presence beside me. My heart soared—there was something undeniably sweet about the intimacy of this shared experience, a sense of possibility blossoming in the air.
"Just wait until you see drive on a deserted road," I said, trying to sound casual, though I could hardly contain my excitement.
"I'm looking forward to it," He replied, his voice warm and inviting.
I allowed myself another glance at him, and as our eyes met briefly, a secret smile passed between us, making everything else fade away. This was just the beginning, and I couldn't help but feel that something special was unfolding right here in this little car, driving toward my house.
"So, Sabastian. We're hosting an auction event tomorrow at the museum, you should come," I said.
"Oh really. What time is it?" He asked.
"The auction starts at 2 pm," I answered.
"2 pm?" He asked softly.
"Yeah. Is anything wrong?" I asked, confused at his reaction to my statement.
"No, not at all. 2 pm is perfect. I'll be there," He said.
As I navigated the familiar streets, the anticipation wrapped around me, making each turn feel electrifying. The evening sky transitioned into a deep indigo, speckled with stars beginning to peek through the twilight. I could feel the excitement pulsating in my veins as I stole another glance at Sabastian, who was gazing out the window with that hint of a smile still dancing on his lips.
Pulling into my driveway, I turned off the engine, the sudden silence of the car replacing the throbbing rhythm of my heart. The night air felt cool against my skin as I stepped out of the car, and for a moment, I lingered, taking in the serenity of the evening.
"Well, here we are," I said, trying to keep my tone light, even though a swirl of emotions churned within me. Sabastian had already unbuckled his seatbelt and was stepping out beside me, the slight crunch of gravel underfoot echoing in the stillness.
As I walked toward the front door, I could sense him following closely behind, our proximity igniting a warmth that had nothing to do with the temperature outside. I fumbled with my keys, the delicate sound of metal jingling breaking the hush that enveloped us.
Opening the door, I turned slightly to look at him. He stood at the entrance, framed by the dim light spilling from within my house. There was a softness in his gaze, a lingering intensity that made my heart skip. I found myself momentarily lost in the depths of his eyes, a silent conversation passing between us.
"Thanks for the ride," He said, his voice sincere, sending a slight shiver down my spine.
"Of course," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.
For a heartbeat, we stood there, the world outside fading away, the atmosphere thick with unspoken words and possibilities still lingering in the air. It felt like a pivotal moment, as if a single heartbeat could change everything.
"I'll see you tomorrow, then?" I asked, feeling a mix of eagerness and uncertainty.
"Absolutely," He replied, a reassuring smile spreading across his face, one that ignited the hopeful spark inside me.
With that, I stepped once again into the warmth of my home, looking back one last time. Sabastian remained at the entrance for a moment longer, his silhouette framed against the night, creating a captivating image burnt into my memory. As I closed the door softly behind me, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was merely the beginning of something beautifully unexpected.
