Zhao Ningxue tensed, her body instinctually cowering as he drew nearer.

Zhao Ningxue took a deep breath, trying to compose herself.
"I... I promise, I'm alright," she repeated, though the words felt hollow even to her.
Her mother could probably sense something was amiss, but what could Zhao Ningxue tell her? That her life had been tossed into chaos by a man she hated more than anything?
"Don't lie... I am your mother, is it Li Bai? I heard you guys have broken up? And without backing of Li family, others have turned their back on us,

Mother Zhao believed, there was some misunderstanding between them, and they have broken up.
