She startled awake when she heard a loud thud on her table; she shot up,
"Are you going to stay here?"
She looked at the time groggily. She would have two hours before her night shift.
"No."
"Let's go."
She followed Grayson out, and he passed her a helmet. She climbed behind him and had butterflies as her legs were on the other side of him.
She was hesitant to wrap her arms around him, but as if he was reading her thoughts, he took her hands and wrapped them around him.
Her heartbeat escalated. She cleaned the house and made her way to work. When she got back, Dawn was too exhausted as she dragged her feet.
She got to her room, changed and went downstairs to eat. When she was done, made her way to her room and sat on her bed.
The door opened and there stood Grayson. "You should quit."
"Huh?"
"You look like a zombie Dawn."
It made her happy that he cared for her, even if he was using her,
"I will do your work. Sorry, I forgot."
Grayson's face scrunched a bit. "That is not what I meant. Why can't you think about yourself?"
"Oh........"
"You're even slacking with your own work, and you were passed out during detention."
"I know. I will get better at managing my time."
It's not about that, you're barely managing."
Dawn nodded. What he said was true.
"You're right, I will quit."
She was sad at the prospect of not making her own money, but what else could she do?
The following morning, Dawn woke up early to clean, and found Grayson's door open. and he was not there.
He had slept out, and she cleaned. When she was done, she decided to take a nap. It would do her good.
Dawn woke up, and it was close to night time. She had to make dinner and went to the kitchen.
Dawn jumped when she saw Grayson emerge in the kitchen, and he was not alone. Behind him came a stunning girl.
She wondered if he would be upset with her for not hiding in time.
"Sorry….I didn't kno..........."
"No need. Bailey is my childhood friend, and she is going to live with us. I thought my mom would have gotten around to telling you."
She nodded.
"It's nice to meet you Dawn."
She smiled. Someone was nice to her, "You too Bailey."
The girl was stunning, blonde hair and stark blue eyes, she was light and bubbly. Everything that she was not.
With the way Grayson spoke to her, Dawn knew that they had a special relationship. They left, and she knew that he was probably showing her around.
She finished cooking and dished up dinner, Grayson and Bailey spoke. They did not bother to engage with her and she felt very left out.
After finishing and clearing up, she went back to her room knowing that Grayson would not care to watch You with her now that Bailey was here.
She did their homework and got dressed for work. She had wanted to quit, but seeing Grayson with Bailey hurt her a bit.
Dawn did not know if she could bear it.
She left unnoticed, and after her shift, Dawn walked back into the house,
"I thought you would quit."
She jumped, it was Grayson,
"Where is Bailey?"
"She went to bed, but that was not my fucking question."
"I changed my mind."
"You changed your fucking mind?"
His tone was intimidating her a bit. "I decided to give it one last try and if it does not work, then I will quit."
"Go fucking quit tomorrow."
Dawn did not respond.
"It's that or you leave our house."
Dawn looked at him sharply and her eyes pooled with tears. He was purely evil, "Fine, I will quit. Can I take my leave?"
"Go."
Dawn walked into her room, and changed into her pajamas, and lay on her bed as the tears flowed. Now she had to see Grayson with Bailey all the time.
She needed to come back to reality very soon. What had she thought would happen? He found her weird and ugly.
Now she had lost the one person whom she had, and the feeling of loneliness crept in strongly. The following afternoon, she had cleaned, made lunch and now she was seated outside by the sun.
Dawn felt gloomy, as she had quit her job, but felt very relaxed. Grayson and Bailey came outside.
"I see you are out." Said Bailey.
"Yes, I finished cleaning. Do you want me to do something for you?"
Bailey smiled, "Not yet."
"If you need me to do anything, just say so and I will."
"Thank you, Dawn."
"I will head back in."
"Enjoy." Bailey replied.
She did not look at Grayson, she was upset with him for making her quit her work and it was not hard to ignore him as he was doing a fine job of acting as if she did not exist anymore.
Before she got to her room, she could hear Bailey's laughter ring out, and now she wondered if she and Grayson would ever finish watching You.
Night time came, and there was a knock on her door,
"Come in."
Bailey opened the door, "Grayson and I are going out to dinner. You don't have to prepare anything."
She nodded. "Thank you and have fun."
"We will."
Bailey left, and she heard Grayson's Harley come to life and could picture Bailey's arms around him and Grayson liking her touch unlike with her, probably.
Now she wondered what to do, so she decided to make a sandwich for herself and start a new show.
She hoped that Grayson was happy. She was stuck at home, and rather than doing nothing, she could be at work making money.
Yet part of her was happy that she could have this break. When was the last time could she sit and not feel heavily tired?
Time seemed to move slowly, and it was one in the morning. She could not stay awake any longer, so she decided to call it a night.
She had hoped a bit that Grayson would come back and they would watch You but no he didn't.
The following morning as Dawn was cleaning Grayson's room, she realized that they had not come back from their outing.
She wondered as to what they were doing? Was Bailey like Grayson? After cleaning, she double checked her and Grayson's work.
She went and put his books on his desk. Evening came and there was no sign of the two of them. So Dawn went to bed.
She was shocked as it was school tomorrow, and they were still not back. She prepped for everything and slept.
