The set was buzzing with activity; in a film like this, countless people worked tirelessly to make sure that every small detail was perfect.
As a grip, John had the responsibility of adjusting and monitoring filming equipment. Today was the start of filming a scene on a basketball court. Initially, this scene was supposed to be shot in New York in the coming weeks. However, since the movie required many child actors, the Hollywood Young Performers Committee was concerned about the logistics of traveling with young actors to New York.
Of course, while their concerns were valid, it didn't mean the decision didn't annoy the director. He looked like he was about to burst a vein while arguing about something with the representative of the Young Performers Committee.
John couldn't help but smile discreetly as he watched the heated debate between the director, Steven, and the committee representative.
However, his smile faded when he saw Harvey Weinstein standing beside the director, attempting to calm him down. John's discomfort grew as he noticed how many young people were in the set. They didn't have any idea that they were in danger being in the same place as that man.
"Johnny! Switch out the focal lens on Camera 04!"
Michael's shout snapped John out of his thoughts and he walked over to the camera to change the lens. As he worked, his thoughts wandered.
John was convinced he had traveled back in time. He didn't fully understand what had happened or why he had returned to this moment, but he knew he couldn't waste this chance.
To him, the situation was simple. Sure, traveling to the past carried its own risks — after all, the butterfly effect was a well-known concept. But honestly, John didn't care about paradoxes or anything like that. In this case, he was unapologetically selfish.
He was willing to completely rewrite the future to create something better for himself and his sister. Consequences be damned.
He was back in 1994. While he vaguely knew which companies would grow and a few historical events that might unfold, John admitted to himself that he didn't have the sharpest memory. Knowing about Google and Facebook's future dominance didn't mean he had any idea how to invest in them effectively.
"Actually, if I'm honest, the one thing I'm sure of is that I'm going to be far away from New York in 2001." John laughed as he thought grimly.
Despite his knowledge of the future, John didn't remember most details and had no clue how to profit from them financially. The one thing he understood well was the film industry.
"Well, it wouldn't exactly be plagiarism if I wrote and directed a few movies before their original release dates. Plus, I'll need to build my influence in the industry to deal with him."
John's gaze shifted toward Harvey Weinstein again. He knew attacking Weinstein right now would be a mistake. He was a just a grip in Hollywood. He didn't had the money or the reputation to go against somebody so influent like Harvey Weinstein. To take down Weinstein, John had to become a powerful man in the industry.
He wasn't willing to wait decades for Weinstein's imprisonment. The man wasn't arrested until 2017, almost three decades later. This time John wants to see Weinstein arrested or dead early.
But John didn't just want Weinstein behind bars. He wanted to strip away everything Weinstein valued and see the despair in his eyes.
John was going to have his revenge.
