Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: A WORLD FOR A SECOND CHANCE

A young man wakes up in a very strange room, trying to recollect, what just happened. He is shocked to find that he is not in a world he recognises, as two people surround him by his bedside.

One is a young girl with a worried face and the other is an older woman who is in tears but is appreciative of the young boy being awake and well.

The older woman rushes out of the room to look for her husband and tell him the good news while the younger girl sits there in disbelief, trying to wipe her tears; the young boy then tries to utter words of comfort to the young girl as he extends his arm towards her.

He then realizes that his hands seem to be different as he approaches the girl next to him.

The girl then reaches out and grabs the boy's hand and holds it close to her chest, stating that she will be good to him, and not be a bother to him ever again.

The boy starts to tear up and doesn't understand why he is in so much emotional pain. The boy then tells the young girl to lend him a mirror to grasp what is going on.

"Who the hell is this guy?" The young boy stated shockingly, "Who am I?"

The boy then started to have strange visions flooding inside his head and he couldn't take it anymore, and fell unconscious. The girl, worried shouted at the boy's name in a panicked frenzy.

Asa.. Asani" " Please wake up! wake up, Asani!" The girl said with tears flooding her eyes.

We then go back a couple of years back on earth. A young man named Julian Hasani is on his way to graduate from the University and start his career as an extraordinary inventor.

While dressing up in his room, his father walks in and hands him, his graduation gown and congratulates his son for a good job so far. He then tells Julian how proud he is of his hard work.

Julian almost shades a tear but decides to hold it in, holds up his head and prepares to step into his bright future. His father, who is a mechanic and owns a small garage, escorts him to the university.

At the hall, the head chancellor makes a speech congratulating the graduates for their hard work and resilience and wishes the graduates a happy and prosperous future.

Then he calls out the graduates one by one, to the podium to get their academic certificate. Julian is called, and his father, Jonathan, shouts his name.

"That's my boy, Julian, no one is better than my boy," Jonathan shouts proudly.

Julian gets down from the podium, feeling embarrassed but smiles happily. Julian and his father, Jonathan, then go to the cemetery to their mother and sister's grave. Julian, with tears in his eyes, asks his mother if he did her proud.

Jonathan then rests his arm on Julian's shoulder and tells him that she is proud of her son tenfold and that he has to look forward to what the future brings.

Four years later, Julian is working together with an NGO to create a machine that can generate rain and also a machine that can help improve farmers with their crops. At this point, Jonathan has created a couple of inventions, including different ways for people to communicate in harsh environments, especially if they are stranded.

Created protective suits that help when people are in an accident or danger. And now he can help people get access to water with a weather machine.

He gets pushback from activists who don't like his inventions, but that doesn't stop him from continuing to live his dreams. One of his colleagues, a young woman named Maria, told Julian that his job would bring headaches and heartache and that he should focus more on the task at hand.

Maria then told Julian that most of the projects will have these kinds of pushback and that he should be prepared when they come.

He then gets a call from the hospital that his father, Jonathan, was hospitalized.

He immeasurable rushes over to the hospital and finds that his father is in a critical state. He has an incurable disease that Julian had no clue of and this made him frustrated and angry with himself.

He immediately told the doctor to give him the best treatments so that his father wouldn't get worse than he already was. He then confronts his father after a few weeks as to why he didn't inform him of his incurable disease.

"Why, Dad? Why didn't you tell me about this?" Julian asked in a sad voice.

"I didn't want to worry you, my son," Jonathan replied; you were so excited about your dreams and aspirations that I didn't want to hinder your success."

"Dad, I remember telling you that your health comes first, before anything else." Jonathan replied, Soo why didn't you tell me you were this unwell."

"Julian, my dear boy," you have taken care of me way too much. Aren't I the parent here," Jothan replied, " You're an adult now; leave your life and have a family of your own to take care of.

"But Dad! Julian protested but was quickly interrupted by the nurse who urged him that he needed his rest.

The nurse then told Julian to see the doctor. Julian then stepped out to see the doctor.

At the doctor's office, Julian was told that his father might have six to seven months to live and may begin to plan funeral arrangements, but he refused and told the doctor that his father would live for at least another year and that he would provide everything they needed for his well-being.

The next two months were gruelling for Jonatha,n who was tested and given treatments to combat his health. Julian then poured almost all of his savings into his father and even started to learn medicine to find a way to invent a cure for his father.

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months, and eventually, it was five months.

Jonathan then tells Julian that he needs to give up and start a new life, but Julian refuses.

Julian is then called by the doctor in the office and is told some good news. His father may pull through and he might live for another year. Julian was so excited and couldn't wait to tell his father.

But the doctor halted his happy moment and told him that he shouldn't be too excited as the disease may become worse.

Julian then suggested a new treatment that may help his father live longer.

He told the doctor, who informed him that the treatment he was suggesting was quite difficult and required a lot of money, time and patience.

He told the doctor that he needed to begin treatment and, he would look for money.

This is when Julian realises his bank account is almost dry and he needs more funds to help his father.

He decides to look for a job and be able to pay for his father's treatment; otherwise, he will lose his loved ones again.

He starts looking for a job at different corporations, going in and out of interviews and being told the same thing. He is too qualified to join the company.

Sometimes, he visits his father during his tests and treatments, and when he is tired of waiting he plays on his mobile phone. One game in particular that caught his eye was a game called The Mystic Empires of Ayan.

The game was centred around six empires that consisted of humans and other, otherworldly creatures. He enjoyed the immersive storytelling and how you could interact with the characters from different places across their universe.

Julian finally got a job as an accountant. He didn't like it, but he had no choice but to resort to a normal 9-5 job to help his father.

He had to leave his dream job of being an inventor, especially after he was kicked out of the project he was working on with the NGO, even though he pleaded to stay for a while.

A couple of months later, the treatment seemed to be working for his father, and Julian was lucky enough to get a well-wisher to get him to help with the funds he needed for his father's treatment.

Everything was going somewhat okay, considering the circumstances and Julian never gave up taking care of his father.

One day, Julian was busy doing his job but made a Terrible error with his work.

The manager of the department he was working in, then came to his cubicle and scolded him for his mistake. Julian then apologized and swore to take the correct steps. He then gets a call from the hospital that his father relapsed and needed to come to the hospital immediately.

He then rushed to the hospital, even though the manager was still scolding him. He arrived at the hospital and went to the doctor's office to find out what happened.

"Your father had a relapse and he may have more of this episode." The doctor stated.

"But he was just fine yesterday? I don't understand what's going on?"

"It's been a year and the medication somewhat proved to work but it was never going to cure his disease, " The doctor presented attentively, "You need to prepare for the worst,"

"No ple..please don't tell me to give up, please," Julian answered with tears in his eyes."

Julian then went to his father's room who was eating happily. Julian, confused by his father's calm and warm demeanour, rushes to his bed and asks if there is anything that hurts him or if he feels unwell. He continued to overflood Jonathan with questions but he was stopped abruptly.

"Listen to me, Julian, I have come to terms with my mortality; it's time I meet your sister and mother now," Jonathan said warmly.

"No please further, don't leave me alone, please, just one more treatment, please just hang in there," Julian stated.

"Julian my dear boy, it's time for me to leave this world." Jonathan replied, "Please keep the dream alive and don't give up again for my sake. "

Julian cried as he kneeled beside his father's deathbed. Jonath saw the sun set sunsetted out on Jordan's mother and sister.

"Yes, my Lisa, and my sweet baby girl, your father will be there soon.

After a month, Julian was fired from his only job and he decided to shut himself in his apartment. The landlord kept knocking and telling him to pay rent which he didn't pay for six months. He was always playing video games that he used to play during his off days, and he was tired of pretty much everything, especially his life in general.

He then starts to drink and smoke back and forth. While he was looking for a place to buy drinks while walking on the road, he saw what seemed to be his sister, father and his mother on the road. He was shocked, and then, he looked at a small mark on his hand, shining and thought he might be hallucinating.

So he crossed the road without looking at both sides and a truck was incoming. He then tried to reach out to his mother and sister and uttered his last words.

"it was my fault and I'm sorry." Julian, said as he drew his last breath.
