Chapter 3 - The more I remember...

Somewhere in China,

A woman was sitted in a luxurious office as she was reading some files. Her face was void with no emotion. Her cold blue eyes did no justice to cover up the cold demeanor aura she was exuding. She was wearing a red suit that hugged her body perfectly matching with black chiffon blouse and white stilettos. The sky thundered indicating it was about to rain. She glanced up through the large clear glass window and tall buildings and dark , looming sky came in view. She stood up gracefully and walked to the window as she gazed at the bustling city and rushing cars and people due to the incoming storm. A soft but precise knock broke her from her reverie.

"Come in"

A man who seemed to be in his early 20s walked in, in white suit and black sneakers. His clear vintage glasses that he had on, made his beautiful facial features come out more. He walked in carrying his iPad. He was the true definition of the rich second generation.

"Did you find anything?" The woman in red asked with a monotone voice.

"No Hey Calix? How was your trip to Arizona that I sent you to?" The man now called Calix said with a playful voice rolling his eyes.

"Should I send you back there again?" The woman said with a threatening tone as she walked towards her mini-fridge and picked out her best red wine and poured it on her glass. Calix sighed and said," I did find something but it does not exactly match the data you gave to me"

"Speak a language I now understand Calix," She said seemingly to be now irritated.

"Well, this the person you are looking for but her background does not match with your data." He said as he showed her his iPad. There, was a beautiful girl who looked like she was 18. She had a beautiful black long silky hair, cute facial features. What intrigued someone was her cold, rebellious, yet friendly brown eyes. She was wearing an oversized T-shirt with baggy black jeans matching with black sport shoes. She was carrying a black school bag that says 'fuck off'  with white air pods on her left ear.

The woman's eyes flickered for the first time in years, but it quickly went away as if that moment never happened.

"Give me updates on her life, which means everything she is related with." The woman gave her commands as she drank the remaining wine and sat on her desk handing Calix his iPad.

"Yes, Boss." He took his iPad and switched it off and was about to leave when he suddenly remembered something.

"Wait, does that mean I get a bonus for this month? You know it wasn't easy to find her an..."

"You know I could send you back to Arizona, if you don't leave my office in the next second." The woman threatened clearly irritated.

"Fine am leaving" Calix said as he left quickly closing the door remembering the trip that was not so friendly.

He wondered why his boss was looking for this girl so badly but that was not his concerns right now, so he drop that thought as quickly as it came.

The woman stared at the window and whispered, ' I will find you soon, darlin'

Meanwhile back in Annex Residents,

"Dad, you know it's against child rights to go behind your kids?" Ari was still mad at his father for what he did back in school. And now she was busy lecturing his dad who seemed to have seen this coming from a mile far as he was making cookie dough.

"Who said that and is that even in child rights?" Dad asked with a look of confusion. Of course it wasn't, I was just exaggerating a bit. Am really mad at him. I huff as I stomp my feet to the living room knowing I cannot change his mind even a little bit and sat at the couch and found Clay watching his favorite sport, football.

"Are you done making tantrums?" He asked munching his favorite chips. "Am not throwing any tantrum, okay? am just fighting for my rights." I said only to see him roll his eyes but I did not care even a little bit.

"I feel like the hospital made a mistake when we were born," Clay muttered as he thought deeply. "What do you mean?" I asked making myself comfortable on my favorite couch.

"Do you even not get ashamed at all calling yourself the eldest despite your irresponsible character?" He said carelessly as if he was talking about weather. I hit him with a pillow only to get a cuss from him. "Okay, the both of you stop!" Dad warned as he came with cookie dough my favorite.

"Clay, started it" I said pointing my finger to him.

"You.." He was struck speechless by my childish acts. Only I get to make the infamous Clay Stone speechless and not even dad can pull this stunt. Am pretty sure he was wondering what he did to get a sister like me, not that I care.

"Okay, Ari, have some of this maybe it will cool you down" He said the last part in a low voice but I did hear it loud and clear. I took the cookie dough and ate it happily since I love it so much. Dad just smiled at my childish acts and shook his head as he went to bed reminding us to do so early since we heard school the next day.

As it was raining, I wore my oversized fluffy white sweater that dad got me for my 17th birthday and lay my head on my pillow. I gazed at the ceiling of my dark room with a small light emitting from the tiny space of the curtain as I knew this was going to be long night. And like every other nights I found it hard to go to sleep just like this night. Never told anyone, just covered the black circles with a concealer the next morning. Am pretty sure dad and clay noticed and pretended they didn't. Which is what am most grateful right now. Am not quite sure I need either of them try to make sleep with them or dad suggesting I should visit the therapist.

And all this began on that fateful night. A night that was imprinted in my mind like it all happened just yesterday. A night I wish to forget, but the more I tried to forget, the more I remember....
