Chapter 18 - Chapter Eighteen: Unique Child

[Name]: Divinity Pendant

[Type]: Accessory

[Quality]: Rare

[Requirement]: Priest (Level 10 or above)

[Effect]: Increases mana by 100 points and recovers 25 MP per minute. Decreases cooldown of all spells by 20% and increases spell effects by 10%.

It was a rare item that wasn't suitable for him, but he was happy as it would increase the overall combat power of the team.

But what surprised him wasn't the pendant—it was a black card.

A pure black card, with various symbols carved into it, giving off a sinister aura.

[Name]: Vile Society Invitation Card

[Type]: Miscellaneous

[Quality]: Ordinary

[Requirement]: None

[Effect]: Pinpoints the location of the nearest Society Base.

[Usages]: 1/1

[Note]: Vile Society, a cult that worships a devil as a god, invites those who have committed many sins to become members. To join, one must have committed sins that aren't forgivable. Only those with a vile heart are invited. It can be used once to find the nearest base where one can join the cult.

"A cult." Lan Sol set the card aside. "Was there anything like that in the game? I guess it's a new addition." Without much care, he placed all the swords in his inventory.

The bandits wore poor-quality clothes, which were better than nothing, as they were warmer than the ones he was wearing.

Still, he had no desire to wear them immediately, as they were too big. All the bandits were huge, and Lan Sol, with a height of 1.75 meters, was pitifully small.

The large, thick coat looked very warm, but it would cover him from his body to his knees. It was enormous.

The broadsword was similarly huge and heavy—not suitable for anyone in his party to carry.

After storing all these items in his inventory, he finally looked at the currency of the world.

Five gold coins were in a small magical pouch, similar to an inventory but with less space.

Five gold coins, five healing potions, boar meat, spices, milk, three green potions, two red potions, and one letter.

[Name]: Venomous Python Deadly Poison

[Type]: Potion

[Quality]: Rare

[Requirement]: None

[Effect]: Poisons the enemy, causing them to lose 5 HP per second. All stats are decreased by 50%, and movement and attack speed are reduced by 80%. There is a 25% chance for the enemy to be paralyzed until the poison effect is removed.

[Note]: A deadly poison that can kill anyone below Tier 3 Elite Creatures. However, any status removal skills can remove the poison effect. It can be applied to the tip of an arrow or sword.

[Name]: Potion of Strength

[Type]: Potion

[Quality]: Rare

[Requirement]: None

[Effect]: Doubles strength and increases attack power by 40% when consumed for five minutes.

[Note]: A healthy potion that temporarily boosts strength without any side effects.

"Not bad." Lan Sol nodded and read the letter.

[To anyone finding this letter, please deliver it to 'Gold Lake City'. I have discovered the stronghold of the 'Vile Society', an infamous cult that has wreaked havoc in many kingdoms. They are planning a conspiracy to destroy 'Golden Lake City' and kill all the residents. They will be attacking the city in two weeks. They have already discovered me, and I don't have much time left. So to whoever finds this letter, please deliver it safely and quietly to the city. Help me warn the city of their conspiracy.]

It was a short letter, but it contained very important news.

"A conspiracy." As Lan Sol contemplated whether to take the risk of going to the city, a system notification startled him.

[You have found a quest prop: 'Letter to Golden Lake City'.]

[Do you wish to accept the quest: 'Conspiracy of The Vile Society'?]

[Quest Description: A danger is looming over Golden Lake City. You have discovered a letter that can alert the city of its impending doom. However, there may be spies and enemies in the city who will try to kill you and prevent the letter from reaching its destination.]

[Quest Reward: Golden City Favorability. Other rewards depend on your contribution.]

[Time Limit: 2 weeks]

[Penalty: None]

"A quest. Of course, I accept it." Quests like these seemed rare, so he couldn't resist.

Smiling brightly, he checked the coordinates for the Vile Society Stronghold and Golden Lake City.

Vile Society Stronghold: 200 KM

Golden Lake City: 179 KM

"They are... very far."

Deciding to focus on this quest later, Lan Sol stored all the spoils of the battle and left the room.

Outside, his four subjects were roaming the village, excited as they had never been to a human village before.

Lan Sol took the vegetables and seeds and gave the villagers some meat.

He found several women and children who had no family and showed interest in joining his territory. Many had decent talent in farming or sewing, so their addition to the territory would be very helpful.

As he was looking around, he suddenly spotted a child.

She was around 10-12 years old, wearing tattered hemp clothes.

She was dirty, and her hair was messy as if she hadn't taken a bath in years.

She had a cute face and a thin, frail body.

Lan Sol felt pity looking at her. He checked her attributes.

"Huh?" Lan Sol blinked. "Did I see that right?" He pondered, clearly at a loss.

"Right." He nodded. "I found a prodigy." He remained calm.

'A real PRODIGY!!!' Lan Sol maintained his calm demeanor while freaking out inside.

Ecstatic to find a prodigy, which in-game had a chance of 1 in a trillion, he had only ever recruited one prodigy in all his gameplay.

Clearing his throat, he walked up to the child.

"Hello there."
