Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten: Silver Chest

Ordinary low-level monsters that don't have much loot in their bodies aren't decomposable, but higher-grade and level monsters have something in their bodies that is useful.

[Ordinary Goblin Soul *1]

[Unnatural Rage *1]

Only two items were dropped, but each was very important. So important that Lan Sol's eyes widened and his lips curved.

He was feeling very happy as he checked their details.

[Do you wish to learn the spell 'Unnatural Rage'?]

"A new skill. Not bad." After learning the skill, he looked at his two soldiers and healed both of them to their full health.

Both of them showed their gratitude, and their loyalty increased by 5 points each.

He didn't care about the soul, as he didn't wish to increase his grade just by using an ordinary-grade soul. Since it's a one-time advancement, he wished to advance with at least a 100% stats increase. That way, he would be twice as strong as others of the same level.

Lan Sol looked around and commanded his followers.

"Go and search every corner of this cavern. Whatever you find, report to me."

"Okay!" Both of them checked every corner of the room.

Lan Sol also looked around for a chest. After painfully searching for over twenty minutes, they finally found a chest hidden inside a certain wall.

"Why the hell is the chest hidden so well?! Isn't a chest meant for explorers?" In every game, there are some chests that are hidden, but the majority of them are just lying around!

Why the heck does this chest need to be found rather than just being here?

Despite playing the game himself, he knew some dungeons love hiding chests, and this was one of them.

The pain is that the location is random, and every wall could be a fake wall. Some look even real enough to make you question your sight when you accidentally find them.

"Let's see what's inside the chest." Despite his complaint, he was expecting something good.

This chest was silver! Not stones, but a rare one!

It looked simple though—smooth surfaces, no pattern, and a simple shape of a chest. But being silver made it special. Lan Sol's eyes were gleaming.

[Obtained 'Mage Robe x1', 'Soft Boots x1', 'Goblin Soldier Recruitment Scroll (Ordinary) x5', Mana Potion x2.]

"Wow." Lan Sol was amazed by the variety of items.

The Mage Robe wasn't like those shown in movies or anime. It was a blue, long, thick outfit that covered the entire body from neck to feet.

But it was also warm and provided an auto-defense barrier that stops all physical and elemental attacks.

There's a limit to how much it can stop, but as long as mana is provided, the outfit will recover unless it is completely destroyed.

The Soft Boots were another impressive item that negates all the cold to the feet. While walking, it feels cold even with slippers on, but thankfully, he was summoned with one, as he didn't sleep with slippers on.

His feet were cold too, and moving was hard and painful. It was so cold he couldn't feel his feet sometimes.

Thankfully, with increased resistance, he could endure more cold, and movement didn't become a problem. But with the shoes, he could be smoother and more skillful in his movement.

It also provided one stat point to Agility.

The Recruitment Scroll was the same as before, but what was summoned was an ordinary goblin soldier, with the same stats as he had fought.

No intelligence, 100% loyalty, and they would follow any orders willingly. As they can't speak, they are like unique types of pets.

The reason for 100% loyalty was justifiable as they were dependent on Lan Sol for every command, food, and didn't have the intelligence to think for themselves.

As for mana potions, they were also common items found in games. A single bottle can restore 100 points of mana.

It was wonderful.

After recruiting five more goblins, their journey became a bit faster.

Gol and Gam were the main fighting forces, while the other goblins were support.

After an hour of fighting and killing more than 200 goblins of different kinds (thankfully no commanders), Lan Sol finally leveled up again.

[You have leveled up! Current Level: 5]

[Your stats have increased! Strength +2, Agility +2, Spirit +3, Constitution +2]

[You have received a new skill, 'Slippery Floor']

[Slippery Floor]

...

[Effect: Spread a thin layer of ice on the ground. 100% of enemies will slip, excluding special cases.]

"Another new skill."

The skill was non-combat, but useful in various cases like when escaping, catching enemies off guard, or simply making them defenseless for a minute.

The question was, will it work on boss-level enemies that are stronger than him? An experiment needs to be conducted.

"We've reached the boss room," Lan Sol muttered.

"Lord, we can feel a terrifying presence from inside."

"Whatever's in there, it's something dangerous."

Gam and Gok warned Lan Sol. The five other minions looked at the door with fear in their eyes.

Lan Sol could understand.

It was the boss of the entire dungeon. So it must be something dreadful.

Lan Sol could guess who the creature was, as it was no surprise. He had raided many goblin dungeons in the game too.

"Goblin King." As the door opened, a figure with a heavy presence was standing.

In a simple cavern, only a single goblin stood. It had a club similar to the Goblin Commander's, yet it wasn't stone but metal and had sharp spikes. Incredibly sharp—just a single hit from the club would leave hundreds of holes, even in the shell of a tortoise.

It was bigger than Lan Sol—2 meters in size—with a fierce face devoid of any emotion. It was bald and disgusting.

Its facial structure was so weird that calling it ugly would be a compliment. A child would be traumatized for life just from the glimpse of its face.

With a slightly chubby body, it was huge and disgusting. A dense leather cloth was wrapped around its waist that was tight and smooth.

Its red eyes were so cold that the temperature in the cavern felt warm compared to them.

"Krkikk!" An ear-piercing noise so irritating that one would wish they were deaf was let out.

Lan Sol did a quick check of its attributes before creating a plan to defeat it.

[Note: King of the goblins. Powerful and worthy of the title of King. Each place has only one King.]

Yeah, the battle was going to be…legendary.

"Let's hope none of us die." Lan Sol thought, excluding the foolish goblin soldiers, as he wished to survive with his two superior goblins.

He didn't hate the dumb goblins, but he would rather sacrifice them than think of a way to keep them alive.

In this battle, their sacrifice was necessary to win.

Lan Sol made up a plan to deal with the Goblin King.

"Let's defeat this monstrous piece of shit!" Lan Sol raised his sword and rushed toward the boss.

"Yeah!" Two followers raised their voices, and even the five goblins let out a shrill cry and followed their lord.

The Goblin King raised its club and swung, starting the battle.

Author Note:

The next chapter will be a battle—2k words full of combat. Can't help it, as the boss is very strong to deal with. Also, thanks, guys, for 10+ power stones!

I will publish 2 chapters tomorrow. And sorry, I'm a busy guy, so I can't always update daily. I'll try for 5-6 chapters a week though. Let's aim for 50 power stones.

If we reach that goal, I'll publish 3 chapters in a single day. I'll update a single chapter a day unless the goal is fulfilled. So tomorrow, 2 chapters is my promise. See ya tomorrow!
