Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2;THE FALL

Gordon peered outside through the large library windows, his expression shifting from concentration to worry as he took in the scene unfolding on the school grounds. The warm afternoon sun illuminated the grassy area where a group of high school students had gathered, creating an atmosphere that, at first glance, seemed lively. However, as he focused his gaze, the unease in his gut pushed him into action. Without another moment's thought, he strode out of the library, the heavy wooden door creaking slightly as it swung behind him, catching Mrs. Harrilton completely off guard.Mrs. Harrilton, an attentive and kind-hearted librarian, had been absorbed in organizing her diary plans when she sensed the abrupt change in the room. She stood up instinctively, her instincts telling her something was not quite right. As she approached the window seat for a better view, she adjusted her glasses, which had slipped down her nose in haste. The warm light streamed through the window, but all at once, her heart plummeted when she realized what was happening outside. Gordon was walking toward a cluster of high schoolers who were encircling a young girl amid their raucous laughter. As the scene came into sharper focus, Mrs. Harrilton's eyes widened in shock; she recognized the girl at the center of that crowd as Edith, Gordon's eldest sister. A wave of concern washed over her, chilling her to the bone. The carefree banter of the students now sounded like distant echoes to her ears, overshadowed by a pressing sense of alarm for Edith's safety.Feeling a rush of urgency, Mrs. Harrilton darted back to her desk. Her heart raced as she fumbled for her phone, her mind racing through the potential outcomes of this troubling situation. Would Gordon be able to diffuse the tension, or was this gathering more serious than it appeared? Thoughts of past incidents flashed through her mind, reminding her how quickly things could escalate. With trembling fingers, she dialed a number, hoping to reach someone who could help and provide immediate support for the alarming situation unfolding just outside the walls of the school."Principal Ali, we have a situation..." The air was thick with tension, and something was about to unfold.************* Outside, Gordon marched toward the gate, his determination palpable as he locked eyes with the group of high schoolers. He took a deep, steadying breath, the tension in the air crackling around him, and approached one of them with an intensity that drew the attention of everyone nearby. Whispers erupted among the other students, a mix of curiosity and apprehension hanging thick in the air.As Eddie and his friend strolled out of the school, their conversation flowing effortlessly, a sudden movement caught Eddie's eye. He glanced up to see Gordon advancing toward them, an intensity in his stride that sent a thrill of anticipation coursing through the air. Eddie's pulse quickened; he could instinctively feel that something significant was about to unfold. "Gordon?" he ventured, uncertainty lacing his voice.Gordon confidently tapped a member on the shoulder to grab his attention. The guy turned, irritation flashing across his face. "Huh? What do you want, kid?" Gordon leaned in closer, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "You should take your time before answering," Gordon stated.Gordon swiftly lifted his right knee, making hard contact and striking the boy squarely in the crotch. The unexpected blow caused the boy to double over in pain, and he fell to the ground, clutching himself and groaning. Without a moment's hesitation, Gordon turned and sprinted back toward the gate, determined to arm himself with rocks. As he gathered his makeshift weapons, the stunned spectators watched in disbelief. The air was thick with shock as they processed what had just happened, unsure of how to react to the sudden escalation of violence. Gordon confidently hurled rocks at the group, successfully striking their leader. The large man halted and turned his gaze, quickly locating Gordon as he followed the path of the flying stones."Hey, I need you to stop bothering my sister and treat her with respect.""Defy me, will you?" the man snarled, his voice dripping with menace. "You're nothing but a spoiled brat, deluded by your arrogance. Get out of my sight before I lose what little patience I have left." His eyes burned with a dangerous intensity, leaving no doubt that he meant every word."Give me a moment to consider this," Gordon said, placing his hand thoughtfully under his chin."How about...."Gordon seized a larger rock and hurled it with full force at the guy. However, at range, the guy caught the rock and even so crumbled under his grip."I gave you a warning kid, now you're going to pay with your life."The leader lunged forward, sprinting after Gordon. Anticipating this move, Gordon bolted from the scene, racing toward the streets as the group pursued him relentlessly. The adrenaline surged through his veins as he navigated the chaotic chase. **********Meanwhile, the teachers came out, only to see that they were already fleet. The girl, Edith, was on the ground, kneeling and crying. "Why is it that you always rush to save me, Gordon? I don't understand why you keep doing it, especially when I feel like I always let you down."**********Gordon sprinted down the empty streets, heart racing and breath quickening, fear gripping him tightly. Shadows loomed around every corner, and he could almost hear the footsteps pursuing him. "I need to shake them off somehow," he thought frantically, desperate to escape the menace that haunted him. He spots an alleyway, thinking it will be his salvation he turns only to be met with a dead end."Oh no, I need to....."Their voices echoed ominously, mingling with the creeping shadows that approached. Gordon scanned the area, desperate to find a place to conceal himself. His heart raced as he caught sight of a door at the end of the alley. "Was that door always there...?" he wondered, a chill running down his spine. He cast aside all logical thoughts and sprinted forward, heart pounding with desperate urgency. Suddenly, the floor gave way beneath him, and Gordon was plunged into an endless spiraling room. Walls twisted and blurred, pulling him deeper into a vortex of disorientation and fear. Every step seemed to carry him further away from reality, as the room's unsettling geometry defied comprehension, trapping him in a nightmarish labyrinth with no escape in sight."What's happening? Why am I falling?" The voice trembled with fear and confusion, echoing through the void. The sensation of plummeting, with no end in sight, turned the question into a desperate cry for answers in a world suddenly turned upside down. The darkness pressed in, and the air seemed to grow colder with every passing second, amplifying the terror of the unknown.
