Chapter 1 - I'm ruined

The acrid stench of smoke and ash clung to the air, the horizon a blazing inferno as buildings crumbled into heaps of rubble. Flames leapt hungrily toward the heavens, consuming everything in their path. Chaos reigned supreme, a symphony of destruction born from the clash of bitter foes.

Amid the wreckage, on the jagged remains of a once-majestic tower that defied gravity by clinging to its last shred of height, stood a battered group. Their bodies bore the marks of battle—cuts, bruises, and blood—but their resolve remained unbroken. Their enemy loomed before them: a man whose tattered clothes barely clung to his frame, his body marred by injuries that painted his skin red.

He stumbled forward, a wry smile curling on his bloodied lips. "Hah... I knew this would end in my defeat," he rasped, his voice laced with weary amusement. "But here... at this moment... I see it. My victory. I've won."

With a staggering step, he turned away, his gaze distant as if seeing something no one else could. Stretching out his arms, his body formed a haunting silhouette against the burning sky. "I have won..." His laughter was hollow, a ghostly echo of triumph.

Then, it happened. A sharp crack pierced the air, and his body jolted violently. Blood erupted from his left side as a bullet tore through him, his left arm flailing uselessly before collapsing to his side. His knees buckled, hitting the ground with a resounding thud.

Even as life drained from him, a crooked smirk clung to his face. He muttered something inaudible, his words drowned in the blood bubbling from his lips. Darkness overtook his features, and with a final shudder, he fell still.

One of the injured, a woman, stepped forward, her expression a mixture of confusion and unease. "What... what was that about?" she murmured, her voice trembling as she stared at the lifeless figure.

But as she approached, her uneasiness deepened. That smirk... there was something sinister about it. Her heart raced, an inexplicable dread rising within her. And then, as if the world itself responded to his final act, the earth trembled.

A deafening boom erupted from the ruins, a blinding explosion that obliterated everything in its radius. The world vanished into fire and dust, leaving nothing but devastation in its wake.
