Fred's first visit was at Lynn's. She jumped on him when she saw him and they kissed passionately. She was all over him and ensured they met daily. She now looked more mature, her breast already fuller and her hips curvier. Fred fell more in love with her.
They were in his house chatting and sharing kisses and love when Lynn's cell phone rang. Lynn hesitated to pick it up, but Fred ensured she did.
"Hello," she whispered. "I am fine… at a friend's place… Can you call me back later?" Fred overheard the dude over the phone before Lynn dropped the call.
He had said, "I can't wait to kiss you again"
Fred turned red. Lynn stood up, frightened by Fred's countenance.
"Who was that?" Fred asked, trying not to tell.
"A friend" Lynn stammered. She took a few steps away from him.
"A friend. You are going to kiss a friend?"
"No, I would not."
"It doesn't sound like it. It sounded like you had done it before"
"It's not like that, Fred"
"Then what is it like?" Fred yelled. Lynn was startled. She burst out in tears.
"Please Fred…" she cried.
"Who is he?" Fred tried to calm himself. "Answer me while I ask nicely." He uttered.
"His name is Kelvin, I met him at school, he is the school's head boy. He has been asking me out, and I haven't replied to him"
"What are you waiting for? Why haven't you said no, you have someone?" Fred stood up from the bed, he is now pacing around, breathing heavily.
"He… He…" Lynn stammered.
"HE WHAT?" Fred yelled again. This time, Lynn stumbled and almost fell. Fred held her up and close tight to him. Lynn was trembling. "Lynn… Answer me, who is he?"
"Fred, nothing is going on, we are just friends" Lynn sobbed.
Fred calmed down and comforted her. She cried more heavily.
"I am sorry Lynnette, I didn't mean to make you cry."
She didn't stop crying. Fred left her in the room and went out to think properly about what he had done.
After some minutes, he went back in. She had stopped crying now, sitting on his bed.
"I am sorry Lynn, I didn't mean to make you cry"
"Fred, I am at fault."
"What does that mean?"
"I… He… He deflowered me." Lynn let the cat out of the bag and Fred stood up immediately, shocked by her statement.
"Did I just hear you properly, Lynnette?"
"I am sorry I couldn't wait for just a year, I … I was just stupid and …"
"You are joking, right?" Fred tried to laugh over it, but Lynn wasn't laughing.
"It's not a joke"
Fred's bones are brittle. He fell on his knees and held Lynn's hand. "This is a lie, Lynn, right?"
Lynn cried huskily, "I am serious, Kelvin is my recent boyfriend. He made love to me, and he loves me"
"Do you love him?"
"Yes"
Fred felt a chill of disappointment and shame. "So why did you come to see me? To welcome me? Or to deceive me?"
"I never meant to, but I didn't know how to end it, Fred"
Fred was hopeless and helpless, his eyes welled up, and he begged, "Lynn please, we can work this out"
"No Fred, I want to avoid being selfish. Let's just dissolve this" Lynn stood up and walked away, leaving Fred still on his knees. Tears rolled down his cheek. He wiped it and stood up, picking back up his pieces, he dressed up, placed his house on lease, and left Lagos that evening. He contacted Derek the next day and explained all that happened.
Derek sympathized with him and assured him that he would find love elsewhere. He knew his sister wasn't mature enough to keep a relationship, not to talk of a distant one.
Fred completed his Bachelor's and applied for his Master's. All these while he never crossed Lagos. He became a successful plastic surgeon. He and Derek still kept in touch, but they try as much as possible not to talk about Lynn.
Fred hadn't found love since Lynn, and he still sometimes hoped, he could get back Lynn.
Finally, after an appointment in Lagos, he had to fly back down and took the opportunity to check out his Parent's house which was leased out. It had expired, and he hadn't gotten the chance to go acquire back the house.
