Chapter 26 - HER SOLDIER MAN

Not only were they together, but Cal had unbuttoned her uniform shirt and was checking her wound. You needed to see how they were together. My heart broke to pieces, maybe they actually had something that I knew nothing of. Grace would have been in a better position to explain, but she was unconscious. I looked at Red, and he wanted to know what I saw, I just shook my head telling him it was nothing, but he wasn't convinced, he struggled his way to join me in peeping, and we made a sound, Cal looked our direction and immediately grabbed his gun probably thinking it was some of those gangsters.

"Cutie" Red said in a sigh of relief. Cal opened the door and our eyes met.

"Sidney" He seemed surprised to see me, was he hoping I had lost my life? He pulled me close and hugged me. "I was so scared, I thought I had lost you," he said, kissing my forehead.

"You thought I was dead?"

"No… not that…. I just… IQ reported to me that you weren't with the president's daughter, so I thought…"

"You thought or you wished?" I didn't know I had started sounding upset until he gave me that look,

"Sidney, what's wrong with you?"

It pierced my heart when he said that. I started crying like a newborn. He pulled me to him and held on to me! My head leaned on his chest. "What happened?" he asked curiously, trying to muffle my wailing on his chest so that I wouldn't make a sound. I cried more heavily and started hitting his chest continuously, I had never felt so hurt in my entire life.

"I'm sorry, I know you've been through a lot, I am sorry I was unable to protect you, that's why I didn't want you to come in the first place"

He didn't even know why I was crying, I just stopped crying and carried my shame in peace.

"Is that GG?" he asked and immediately let go of me and ran to Grace, he started trying to resuscitate her. Perhaps he was just a very caring colleague. I glared at Vera, but she didn't look like she was interested in a fight, she was in pain. She managed to stand up, Cal piggybacked Grace while I helped Red in walking. Vera was able to secure the way as we forged on.

I was so surprised that we didn't get to see any of the bad guys until we exited the apartment. When we got outside. We saw a dozen of them surrounding the car where I had kept the president's daughter. Chills ran down my spine, hope they haven't taken her.

"I will deal with them," Cal said as he dropped Grace who was just regaining consciousness.

"And I will be your assistant," I said

"Sidney" Cal tried to stop me and I hushed him immediately.

"Shhh! You can't fight them alone!"

"I am going to use my gun"

"It's not going to be easy using a gun against 12 guns."

I saw one of the giant men that raped the president's daughter. I hoped my plans work. "Hey, giant man! Why don't we do as we did previously?"

"Shut up and die slowly." He replied in anger.

"I can't die slowly with a bullet. But I can die slowly by beatings! So let's make the deal we made hours ago. Two against twelve, isn't that fair enough?"

"Sidney, what're you doing?" Cal was losing his patience.

"I am doing what ii know how to do best"

The huge man whispered something to one of them, and that one to the other, and they spread their message among themselves.

"Deal." The huge man said. They all threw their guns in an area.

Cal was surprised. Then I whispered to him

"Fighting without a weapon is the best way not to die quickly."

Cal glared at me and shook his head, he dropped his gun and the men came roaring like lions at us. Ready to fight.

We fought our first fight together. I and Cal. That was when I realized fighting is more fun with the one you love by your side. Those men were so ill-fated. We beat them up black and blue.

I saw Vera run with Grace on her back and Red by her side into the car. The thug men took their guns out of anger and started shooting at us. That was when I realized the soldier's attire was a bullet-proof vest itself. I got shot. I felt the agonizing pain, but the bullet didn't penetrate my skin. I was so lucky to have Cal. He shot them all in the blink of an eye. He killed them all, and it was justifiable at that moment. He assisted me as we ran into the car and Vera drove away. The president's daughter wasn't in the car and this made me melt, maybe the Colonel had taken her, I thought, but then I felt someone pinching my legs. I looked under the passenger seat and I saw someone squeezed under it… I screamed in fear. It was frightening, not another problem to deal with.

"I am stuck." The president's daughter said gently.

Cal helped her out and she sat with us. Vera and Red looked back at her curiously.

"I had to stay hidden, so I wouldn't be found by those men, I am smart, right?"

I gave a sign of relief and did the sign of the cross.

"Brilliant"

We were now finally going home.
