The air in the Datenshi Base meeting room hung heavy, thick with the stench of fear and the lingering scent of ozone. Youkai, his crimson eyes burning with fury, glared down at the cowering Infinity Monsters.
"Incompetence!" he roared, his voice echoing through the cavernous chamber. "I entrusted this mission to you, and you fail! Do you think I tolerate weakness?"
Oni, his core throbbing with pain from Youkai's invisible grip, trembled. "Master, we… we tried our best. But their master… he's powerful."
"Excuses!" Youkai spat, his voice a venomous hiss. "I don't want excuses, I want results! Or do I need to remind you of what happens to failures?"
Terror seized the Infinity Monsters. They knew what Youkai meant. He had shown them what happened to those who displeased him.
"No, Master!" Oni cried, his voice cracking. "We will succeed! We will not fail you again!"
A cruel smile touched Youkai's lips. "Good. Now, disappear. And remember, your next failure will be your last."
The Infinity Monsters vanished in a flurry of shadows, leaving Youkai alone in the oppressive silence. He clenched his fist, his mind consumed by thoughts of the elusive Senshi Master and his unwavering resistance.
Meanwhile, at the Senshi Academy, the vibrant energy of the training room was a stark contrast to the chilling atmosphere of the Datenshi Base. Sunlight streamed through the large windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Master Sada, his movements fluid and precise, demonstrated the "Lighting Numen Charged Compass Barrage," each strike imbued with the raw power of his Numen.
Yuito, his eyes wide with awe, watched in rapt attention. "Wow, Master! That was incredible!"
Master Sada smiled. "The key is to channel your Numen, to let it flow through you, guiding each strike with precision and power. Remember, positivity fuels your Numen. Embrace the energy within you."
Just then, Riku burst through the door, a whirlwind of energy. "Hi, Yuito! Training hard, I see?"
"Hey, Riku!" Yuito replied. "What brings you here?"
"The Senshi exams are coming up," Riku explained, her eyes gleaming with determination. "I need to reach the Dai rank. For the village."
Yuito frowned. "Dai rank? What's that?"
"It's a high rank in the Senshi," Riku explained. "You're in the Asahi rank, right? If you pass the exams, you'll be promoted to Mabushi Taiyo. The ranks go Asahi, Mabushi Taiyo, Taiyo no Hikari, Dai, and finally… the Celestial."
Master Sada nodded in agreement. "She's right. Each rank brings greater responsibility and power."
Yuito whistled. "Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you."
"I know," Riku said, a determined glint in her eyes. "I have to do this for the village, to protect everyone."
"Of course," Yuito said, a newfound respect for Riku blooming within him. "So, are we training or what?"
"Let's do it!" Riku exclaimed. "What Numen do you work with?"
"Lightning," Yuito replied. "You?"
"Plants," Riku said. "They're surprisingly versatile."
"Nice," Yuito said. "But honestly, which Numen do you think is the strongest?"
Riku pondered for a moment. "Honestly, I don't know. But there's a special skill that can make a Senshi incredibly powerful… a type of perception that allows them to mimic the Numen of others. Very few possess it…"
Master Sada interrupted, his voice firm. "Alright, Riku, that's enough talk. Focus on your training. The exams are approaching."
Riku bowed her head. "Yes, Master."
Yuito watched Riku, intrigued by the mention of this mysterious skill. He wondered why Master Sada had cut her off.
"Start learning that technique, Yuito," Master Sada instructed. "The exams are closer than you think. You need to be prepared."
Yuito nodded, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. He focused on Master Sada's demonstration, determined to master the "Lighting Numen Charged Compass Barrage."
Suddenly, the door burst open, and Riku's brother, Kouki, stormed in. "Riku! That's enough training for today! You know it's not just you who wants to get promoted!"
Riku sighed. "Yes, bro. I know."
Yuito looked at Kouki curiously. "Who is this?"
"This is my brother, Kouki," Riku said, trying to smile. "Kouki, this is Yuito."
Kouki scoffed. "Yeah, whatever. Time to go home, Riku."
Yuito bristled. "Hey, be nice. Didn't you see Master Sada?"
Kouki quickly bowed, his arrogance momentarily forgotten. "Sorry, Master! I didn't mean to disturb you."
Master Sada nodded. "It's alright. Just take care of your sister, alright?"
Kouki straightened, still a bit sullen. "Yes, Master."
Riku apologized for her brother's behavior, but Yuito just waved it off. "No problem."
As Riku and Kouki left, Yuito returned his attention to his training. He had a lot to learn before the exams.
Meanwhile, deep within the forbidden forest, Oni emerged from the shadows, his resolve renewed. He would not fail Youkai again. He would eliminate the Senshi Master, no matter the cost.
But as he cautiously approached the village, a figure materialized from the surrounding trees. Clad in a white robe adorned with a black logo, the figure wore a gold headband and wielded a black blade that shimmered with an eerie light.
Oni froze, his heart pounding. "Who… who are you?"
The figure smirked, its voice a low, chilling whisper. "Not very good at disguises, are you, Oni?"
Oni's eyes widened in alarm. "How… how do you know my name?"
The figure remained silent, its eyes gleaming with an unsettling intensity. "You don't need to know," it replied, its voice a silken caress.
Oni felt a chill crawl down his spine. This was no ordinary opponent. This was… a Celestial.
The Celestial raised its blade, its eyes fixed on Oni. The air crackled with anticipation, the scent of impending battle filling the air.
This was just the beginning.
