A woman sitting on a hospital bed is staring at the baby box next to her. The sleeping baby had just been born into the world a few hours ago. She looked sadly at the baby. What should she do now? She didn't know what to do.
The door to her ward opened, and a tall white man with gray eyes walked up to the woman on the hospital bed. The man stood right next to the baby box that was still fast asleep. "Ainsley Hamilton," said the man whose full name was Xavier Hamilton.
"What do you think?" asked Xavier as he looked at the woman on the bed.
The woman who had given birth to his son Ainsley, whose full name is Ariana Charlotte. "It's a beautiful name," Ariana replied with a smile.
"Do you need anything?" asked Xavier, who was now standing near Ariana's bed.
"I want to hold him, can I?" asked Ariana as she looked at Xavier with a pleading look in Xavier's eyes.
"He's still asleep, later, if he wakes up. You just held his, you better go to sleep now. It must be very tiring," Xavier said in a very soft tone of voice. One hand was now smoothing Ariana's hair.
"Rest, yes. You also need rest," Xavier said again in a very soft tone of voice. Ariana was even lulled by Xavier's gentle words.
Words that should not have lulled her, because she was only waiting for the time when she had to leave Xavier Hamilton's residence. She was here because Xavier paid her to give birth to an heir for him.
The day passed, and Ariana was allowed to go home. Xavier held Ainsley in his right hand, and his left hand wrapped around Ariana's waist possessively. He took Ainsley to her room first, and then he took Ariana to their room.
"Get some rest," Xavier said in his softest tone of voice.
"I want to be close to Ainsley, can he sleep in this room too?" asked Ariana with a pleading tone of voice and teary eyes.
Xavier smiled, "Of course you can," Xavier replied.
"I'll get Ainsley, you just wait here," said Xavier, still smiling and one hand rubbing Ariana's cheek.
Xavier walked to the door of the connecting room that he had purposely built to make it easier for him to get to his son's room. He carried his son carefully and returned to his room to lay his son down beside Ariana.
Ariana smiled, looking lovingly at her son. She held his tiny hand and kissed it. "You're so handsome," said Ariana, her eyes already teary.
"You rest," Xavier said.
"I'm going back to the office to finish my work. I'll be home soon," Xavier said.
"Yes," Arian replied briefly.
"If you need anything, just call a maid. Don't do anything alone," Xavier said.
"Yes," Ariana replied briefly.
"I'm going," said Xavier, then he kissed Ariana's forehead, making Ariana instantly silent.
Xavier smiled before he finally stepped out of the room. The sound of the door closing brought Ariana out of her shock.
"I'm not pregnant anymore, is he used to me?" she asked as she touched her forehead that had just been pecked by Xavier.
Ariana shook her head strongly. "No, that's impossible. Xavier just hasn't gotten used to it yet, or maybe he forgot that I gave birth." She asked to no one in particular.
Now Ariana was looking at her son. "I wish I could take you away, baby. But your father had the power, so I couldn't do anything for you. I just thought I could use the money to treat your sick grandmother, unfortunately, now, I don't need the money anymore. How can Momy take you away from Dady? Momy wants you, baby," said Ariana, who was now shedding tears from the corner of her eyes.
Ariana brought her face close to the child's face. Inhaling the scent of the baby she might miss later.
Time passed so slowly for Xavier. Six years had passed since Ariana left home because their contract was over. Exactly three days after she left, he ordered his subordinates to look for her. However, six years had passed, and he had not found Ariana at all.
He had searched all the cities in America by ordering his subordinates, or he went himself, he even told his subordinates to look for Ariana in England, where they first met. Where Xavier had actually been attracted to Ariana because of Ariana's bed games. However, to make Ariana his life companion, he didn't think about it at all.
It was not only Ariana who disappeared without a trace, even before that, Ariana's mother, who was currently undergoing treatment, also disappeared somewhere. Xavier had sued the hospital that treated Ariana's mother, but to no avail. They really didn't know where Ariana's mother had gone. Now, this incident repeated itself. He lost track of Ariana. He couldn't find Ariana's whereabouts anywhere. He was afraid something had happened to Ariana, afraid she was dead. But over the years of searching, he was convinced that Ariana was still alive.
Xavier kept himself so busy with work that his six-year-old son Ainsley grew up without his daddy's love and attention. He was raised by maids and nurses who were assigned to take care of Ainsley. Xavier's own parents visit once a month to see their grandson. Just to make sure that the successor to the Hamilton family was growing up well and without any flaws.
Xavier had just come out of the doctor's office to see the doctor who was treating his only son. Ainsley had suddenly fallen ill, and he had passed out with blood flowing from his nostrils a week ago. From the lab results, Ainsley had stage two leukemia, Xavier couldn't believe it. How could his only son have leukemia? He had always had monthly check-ups, but why did he have leukemia now?
Are they not doing their job? he asked himself at the time. He didn't want to believe his son's lab results, but they were. The doctor had suggested a bone marrow transplant or chemotherapy. Xavier had already done the examination, but it didn't match at all with his son. His mom was a match, but due to her health condition, she couldn't do the surgery, while his daddy, just like him, wasn't a match for Ainsley. The only way was to look for Ariana's whereabouts, as she was the only one who would most likely be compatible with his son.
Busy with his thoughts, the sudden sound of a falling object distracted him. He froze in place seeing someone he knew very well. He immediately followed the person who was none other than Ariana. Ariana, after bumping into one of the sisters, did not realize that Xavier was there. Xavier followed where Ariana went, he stopped when Ariana entered one of the rooms. Xavier approached the room, and it turned out that Ariana did not close the doctor's room that she entered. Xavier was so surprised to hear Ariana's conversation with her doctor.
