A young man is standing on high ground looking down the lonely lights in the night. The bright lights are full of live and it's blinking with attractiveness. The wind is blowing and it mess up his hairstyle that he have spend the whole morning trying to tame the mane. He gives up and now look around. He see many lonely hearts beating. What scare him is that they are all thinking the same thing.
"There is not a person out there for me."
"Where is my soulmate? Why isn't god showing me the way?"
"I have waited for now 10 years, how long more do i have to wait?"
"Should i go to ask the tarot cards for direction?"
"Was it because i am ugly and fat not one is interested in me?"
"I don't want to marry. I love my freedom!"
"I am my own soulmate."
"I can't catch anyone's eye at this rate."
" I am too old. No man wants me."
"I got the money now but i don't have a wife. I miss the time to get hitch. Will she return to me if i ask her?"
What annoy him is that it's his job to find them a partner. He mumble in his own breath. "Why are you guys so annoying."
He look through his schedule. So many humans that he need to help. Each of them praying in earnest for a relationship that last. Somehow, there are error. More and more people are getting divorce. Eventually, less people are seeking and asking for a marriage. More people are asking for financially well enough for themselves.
Now finally after the millennium, his power is weaken. He doesn't have the power to shoot his special arrows anymore as less people pray and don't remember them anymore. As an old gods, they getting fewer in number. Especially as a cupid, he is one of the last few exist in this world. His immortally is his default a gift given to him. However strangely before the 1700s, he grew up like a human in his twenty. He lost his ability to fly but he can remain invisible if he wishes. His youthful appearance remain. He had given himself the name Leo Julian Amor.
Leo is what his mother used to call him as he is born under the star sign Leo. Julian means youthful while Amor is love.
While travelling through the human world, he learn many languages. Attended schools and learn what the modern world offers. So with his new found knowledge, he set up agency that does match making. Every few years to avoid human's suspicious eyes, he will sell away the company with the condition that the main job of match making last for a long time. Also he will move to another country or another state or province. He have to keep moving thus he never have friends.
He had a photo album from black and white to colors. Looking slightly different at every era. Wearing the most fashionable clothes at the time. Leo wants to make friends but in the human world a person who can't die is an object of strange oddity. So He never become close with anyone. His brothers and sisters are out there in the human world. Like him, each lonely and can never seek another out. Their mother is long gone as no one worship her anymore. She become a legend and a myth. Her name is embed into a planet. Her name is used in a famous painting. Her name is Venus. Leo once saw the painting in a museum, he snorted when he see it. He remember his mother, she doesn't look like this at all. She have dark wavy hair which shine and sparkle like diamonds in the dark. Her eyes are light blue like the clear sky with a hint of sparkle too. She have an olive color skin maybe due to that she walks under the sun without shade. She have a motherly smile that all cupid loves. She is not that skinny slightly fleshy. She lives near the sea. She watch the fishermen fishing every morning. Her hobbies is to sing in the morning with the angels. She encourage her children to love all creatures and help them to find a partner. When the cupid are born, each of them have wings. Each of them are different from the other. Cupids drawn on the painting are always fair skin but in reality there is some of them born in dark skin or brown skin or yellow skin. In another words they are all different color skin. However the wings remain white with hint of gold in it. The cupids used to fly up to meet the angels sometimes and play with them. Those angels are androgynous. They can choose which sex they want to be. Cupids however is not able to choose. They remain the same throughout the time they are born and created.
Throughout Leo's journey in the human world, he met a few angels. He met a few old gods. They all never aged. They all remain the same. When they perish, it's always a reason. It's all for the human who don't know their existing and the things they do for them. If the time comes when all gods perish, then human have to defence themselves again foreign elements. There won't be any god to help them.
For now, Leo knows that he have to do all he can to help. He had set up multiple way to help. Some of the humans have gratefulness in them will set up a space on the dining table for them to sit with the family and have a meal. Sometimes when the decrease member of the family comes to visit, they will make way for the decrease to join the family at the table. While they will fly off somewhere to see if there is an empty place for them to sit with. Cupids sometimes join in. They are not there for the food but the pure energy of happiness. Leo sometimes is reminded how his mother fuss about him with his garments. Sometimes she takes a long time to comb his curly hair that won't be tame for that she will sing a song for him to keep him from flying off. Now he has no one to tame his curly hair. No one to sing him a song. That's why he stands on a high ground every night to hear and absorb good energy for him to get through another day.
