Cesare, who called himself affectionate, seemed to genuinely believe it. Eileen stared at him in disbelief, momentarily forgetting that he was His Highness the Grand Duke.
Noticing the emotions in Eileen's eyes, Cesare offered a faint smile. He gently stroked her trembling body.
"If I hadn't been affectionate, you wouldn't have been able to walk on your own," he said, wiping his tear-soaked eyelashes.
"You probably wouldn't have been able to leave the mansion or see your favorite plants."
Eileen blinked slowly in surprise at his calm words. As he touched his eyelashes, they brushed his fingers, causing him to smile. She continued blinking, trembling, while Cesare snickered softly.
"Stick out your tongue."
Did I do something wrong? Eileen thought hard on her own for a short time, but she couldn't figure out the answer.
