Selene stood by the window, staring at the bracelet on her wrist. It was meant to keep her in line, sending painful shocks if she tried to fight back. But after spending hours testing it, she'd figured out how to control it. Instead of shocking her, she could turn the energy into something she could use.
By reversing it's shock.
But it wasn't without tools.
Her golden eyes darted to the hairpins on the vanity, their sharp edges glinting faintly in the dim light. They were nothing special, just mundane bits of metal, but they'd do.
Fact that they trusted her with this is astounding.
Selene crossed the room in three swift steps, her fingers closing around the pins. She moved to the door, crouching low to examine the locking mechanism.
