After having a change of clothes, he slid into the chamber where Eve was still sound asleep. Watching her peaceful slumber, Alaric was compelled to join her on the bed.
He was exhausted after the intense battle against the pack of dire wolves. The emotional stress caused by Eve being in danger added to his fatigue.
In the next seconds, he lay beside her, gently pulling her into his arms. He embraced her securely.
However, his movement caused her to stir on the bed. Feeling the familiar warmth, Eve slowly opened her eyes, meeting Alaric's gray orbs.
She stared at him for quite so long before reaching out to touch his chiseled face.
