Characters King Krishnadevaraya. Arab horse trader Tenali Raman courtiers Setting Court of King Krishnadevaraya in the 16th century. The king is on his throne surrounded by the courtiers.

Arab horse trader Your Majesty Arab steed!

This is the finest Arab steed I have If you like it I can get more for you

Krishnadevaraya (looking at the horse thoughtfully):

This is the only breed missing from my stable.The King goes out to see more horses. He sees beautiful and healthy horses-brown, black and white.

Krishnadevaraya (impulsively): I will buy them all!

Arab trader: At your service, Your Majesty! I only need an advance of 5000 gold coins. I'll bring the horses in two days.

Two weeks have passed. The king is looking worried and is walking in his garden,

Krishnadevaraya (to himself): Where is the trader?

Suddenly, he sees Tenali Raman writing something on a piece of paper.

Krishnadevaraya: What are you writing. Tenali Raman?

Tenali Raman: I'm listing the biggest fools on the land,

Krishnadevaraya (curiously): Let me have a look.

Tenali Raman hands him the paper.

Krishnadevaraya (angrily): How dare you write my name at the top of this list? I'm the king!

Tenali Raman: Your Majesty gave a stranger 5000 gold coins thinking that he will return...Krishnadevaraya (sternly): What if he returns?

Tenali Raman: If he returns, I will put his name at the top of the list instead of yours!

Krishnadevaraya (apologetically): Hmm... I understand what you're saying Tenali In future I will always consult you on important matters.
