CHAPTER 6
"Jane!" Chantel screamed when she saw Jane sleeping soundly
"Ouch!!" Jane shouted when Chantel hit her buttocks.
"OMG! Jane, did you tell that guy about us?"
"What guy?" Jane pretend
"Jane! Your, pretense is not going to save you! If you don't talk now, I will hit you like the way Dad
does"
"Oh please, don't remind me of that old man!" Jane uttered profanity
"Jane!! That old man is our father!"
"Yeah but… I scorn him!!!!! If I was given the chance to, I would kill him!"
"Jane!"
Suddenly, they heard Jade sobbing.
"I miss him" Jade sobbed. Jade was the only pet of their father, they didn't expect him to let her go.
"Jade, how can you miss a----- a----- oh God!" Jane muttered under her breath. " Let me tell you
guys a story, sit!" Jane added. Immediately Chantel sat, tears slipped Jane's eyes.
"You remember that day Chantel went for CBT training and U went for choir practice at church?"
"yeah I remember dear, when you cried because you saw Glenn with Faye (Glenn is Jane's ex)"
"That was a lie. I didn't see them"
"Then why---"
"Dad forced himself on me!" Jane cuts in.
"WHAT!!!!" Chantel and Jade yelled,
"Why do you think I despise him so much? Do you think I was some kind of mulish?" streams of
tears slipped her eyes.
Jade and Chantel were speechless"He----- he threatened me that if I tell---- he will sleep with me and end my life! Isn't that funny?
That old man sabotaged my life! And now----- presently I am living free from him." Jane's cry filled
the whole room. Chantel did not know what to do. How could she console someone when she is also
wavering,
"Jane, I am sorry" That was the only word that could come out. Jade had already run out, crying
seriously. After a while of silence from everyone, the doorbell rang. Chantel immediately went to
open it. It was Steven.
"Why are you so early," Chantel asked, hiding her swollen face. Then she noticed Steven's face.
"You guys can't stay here anymore. My dad is coming"
***
"What do you mean?" Chantel frowned.
"I mean---"
"Did I just hear you right?" Jane cut in, looking furious.
"If my dad finds you here, he will block all sources of my money, and I don't want that to happen.
Here, take this." He brought out some money from his wallet. "This is 15,000. You guys should find
yourselves a shelter."
Chantel took the money and flung it in the air. Then, money rained down.
"You know what, Steve? You are a coward, a complete one, and you won't get away with this!" Jane
pounced on him, giving him punches he had never received in five years.
Chantel pulled Jane back and took her to the room where Jade was.
"What happened?" Jade asked curiously.
"Pack!" Chantel ordered.
"But..."
"Just pack and save the questions for some other time!" Chantel hardly ever yelled at Jade. Jade
wasn't troublesome. It was a warning of how angry she was.
"O-ok," Jade said, shivering.
***
"Now where will we go?" Jane asked. They were already walking in the streets with their luggage.
"Oh gosh! I am so embarrassed. Look at the way these people are staring at us as if we were chased
out," she added.
"We were chased out," Jade said.
"Channy, please, wave at the taxi," Jane complained.
Chantel was deep in thought.
