Chapter 83 - 83. Roran

Morning.

Tsunade jolted awake from her sleep.

She felt the entire bed shaking.

"An earthquake?"

Tsunade rubbed her eyes and sat up.

Just then, the movement stopped.

She raised her eyebrows. This didn't feel like an earthquake—it felt more like someone was using her superhuman strength.

With that thought, Tsunade got out of bed and looked out the window.

Not far away, a massive pit had appeared in the ground, with spiderweb-like cracks radiating out in all directions.

"This brat actually spent a whole year mastering my strength technique."

Tsunade mumbled to herself as she gazed at Hanekawa.

No one would believe it if she told them—a nine-year-old had managed to learn her monstrous strength.

"Sensei!"

Hanekawa turned and waved to her.

It had been more than half a year since their last trip to the Fire Nation's capital.

He had finally mastered the technique.

[A-Rank Ninjutsu Talent: Monstrous Strength.]

[Trigger Condition: Successfully perform the technique.]

[Effect: Automatically achieve proficiency level in the technique.]

In addition to Monstrous Strength, four new talents had also been unlocked.

The C-Rank talente included Wind Release Chunin, Water Release Chunin, and Swordsmanship Chunin.

These talents were similar to his previous Medical Chunin talent, each providing a 50% boost to the respective abilities.

The promotion conditions were also the same—reaching "Mastery" in the skills would allow advancement to Special Jonin.

The final perk was the C-Rank talent Lightning Chakra Activation.

After over a year of effort, he had finally grasped the basics.

[C-Rank Ninjutsu Talent: Lightning Chakra Activation.]

[Trigger Condition: Attain the basics of Lightning Chakra Activation.]

[Effect: Increases physical strength by 50%, including defense, attack, and speed.]

[Note: Combine with C-Rank Lightning Chunin and C-Rank Taijutsu Chunin to synthesize the B-Rank perk "Lightning Body."]

All his effort had clearly paid off.

This talent alone boosted three attributes—defense, attack, and speed—making him well-rounded.

In the original story, the Fourth Raikage's Lightning Release Chakra Mode and his Strongest Lightning Armor allowed him to match Minato Namikaze in speed.

He could even dodge Amaterasu with sheer physical ability, which was outrageous.

Beyond his speed, his defense and attack power were also extraordinary.

The Fourth Raikage once cut off the Eight-Tails' horn with a single hand.

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he was trusted as the supreme commander of the Ninja Alliance for a reason.

Hanekawa stroked his chin.

The synthesis path for Lightning Chunin and Taijutsu Chunin wasn't too difficult—he just needed time to achieve it.

What he was curious about was the effect of the B-Rank talent Lightning Body.

"Not bad."

Tsunade walked over and praised him without holding back. "As expected of my student."

"Sensei, isn't that just complimenting yourself?"

Hanekawa quipped.

"If I hadn't taught you, how would you have learned this?"

Tsunade smiled and asked, "Who deserves the most credit?"

"You do, sensei."

Hanekawa quickly relented.

"Now that's better."

Tsunade nodded in satisfaction before asking, "When do your holidays start?"

"The day after tomorrow," Hanekawa explained. "These two days are for third-year exams—today is the theory test, and tomorrow is practical."

"Good."

Tsunade grinned and said, "You can't just laze around for the next two months. We'll take on a mission."

"Sure."

Hanekawa had no objections.

Now that he had mastered Monstrous Strength, he might be able to defeat a Jonin in an unexpected situation.

Of course, in direct confrontation, it would still be difficult.

The Jonin of the Five Great Villages had real strength, while Jonin from smaller villages might be beatable.

"Go take your exams."

Tsunade waved him off. "I'll check the mission board for something suitable."

"Sensei, I want to learn Lightning Release," Hanekawa suddenly remembered.

Tsunade frowned slightly.

She knew Hanekawa had both Lightning and Fire attributes.

However, since he was ultimately a medical ninja, she believed his time would be better spent improving his medical ninjutsu proficiency.

Then again, she remembered his outstanding performance at Konoha Hospital.

The medical ninjutsu he learned had incredibly high proficiency.

At this point, the only medical ninjutsu left for him to learn were A-Rank and S-Rank techniques—essentially forbidden jutsu.

But those techniques were still too advanced for him.

It wasn't that he lacked talent, but his body simply didn't have enough chakra yet. He would need another two years.

"Alright."

Tsunade agreed. "I'll ask the old man for a few Lightning Release jutsu."

In Konoha, learning ninjutsu wasn't as simple as wanting to learn it.

As a ninja, there were only three ways to acquire new techniques:

1. Taught by a teacher.

2. Inherited through a clan or parents.

3. Granted as a reward by the Hokage.

Learning or teaching ninjutsu privately without approval could result in punishment.

However, as Tsunade's student, Hanekawa didn't need to worry.

As long as the techniques weren't forbidden jutsu, he could learn them freely.

So, Hanekawa directly asked Tsunade for Lightning Release techniques.

As for Wind Release and Water Release, he lacked the innate attributes, and given his age, it was better to take things one step at a time.

After breakfast, Hanekawa headed to school, and Tsunade went to the Hokage's office.

The Mission Hall was located on the second floor of the Hokage Building.

As soon as Tsunade entered, she spotted a familiar figure.

"Lady Tsunade," Minato Namikaze greeted, quickly stepping forward.

"You're here to take a mission?" Tsunade nodded slightly and asked.

"Yeah."

Minato scratched his head sheepishly and replied, "The Hokage just gave me a rather troublesome mission."

"Competence invites more responsibility," Tsunade chuckled.

If she were Hokage, she wouldn't let someone with the Flying Thunder God technique sit idle either—after all, it was incredibly convenient.

"Lady Tsunade, are you here to take a mission too?" Minato's eyes lit up with curiosity.

"Yes."

Noticing his enthusiasm, Tsunade waved her hand dismissively. "It's to give Hanekawa some experience. Your mission would be too difficult for him."

"No, it's actually perfect!"

Minato smiled brightly and asked, "Why don't you take a look?"

"Is that so?"

Tsunade reached out and took the mission scroll from him.

"I was originally planning to form a team with two Jonin and one Chunin," Minato explained with a smile. "If you and Hanekawa join, it will be just right."

"The Ancient Kingdom of Roran, in the Land of Wind?"

Tsunade exclaimed in slight surprise as she glanced at the scroll.

"According to legend, the ancient kingdom of Roran sits atop a 'Dragon Vein'—an energy source of limitless power," Minato explained. "Based on intel from the ANBU, Roran's minister, Anrokuzan, is attempting to use the Dragon Vein to create a terrifying weapon to dominate the ninja world."

"Dominate the ninja world?"

Tsunade scoffed coldly. "He sure dreams big."

"So what do you think about this mission, Lady Tsunade?" Minato asked once she had finished reading.

"It'll do," Tsunade replied after a brief thought. "I'll join you."

"With you on board, this will be much easier."

Minato let out a breath of relief. "It shouldn't take too much time."

"What's the rush?" Tsunade teased. "Want to get back early to see Kushina?"

Minato blushed at being exposed and laughed awkwardly.

"How about leaving the day after tomorrow?" Tsunade suggested. "The next two days are for final exams."

"Sounds good to me," Minato agreed immediately.

"See you then."

Tsunade turned and headed upstairs.

---

At the Hokage's Office, Tsunade pushed the door open without warning, startling Hiruzen Sarutobi. He quickly stashed away a certain book titled Black Beast.

"What were you reading?"

Tsunade narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Why is your face red?"

"Is it?"

Hiruzen coughed lightly, trying to sound serious. "It's just the heat recently."

"It's spring," Tsunade said coldly.

A bead of cold sweat rolled down Hiruzen's forehead.

If Tsunade found out about Black Beast, his reputation would be utterly destroyed.

Desperate to change the topic, he asked, "What brings you here? Are you here for a mission?"

Since she began training Hanekawa, Tsunade had been taking one mission per month.

"I've already accepted a mission. I'm going to Roran with Minato," Tsunade replied, getting straight to the point. "I need a few Lightning Release techniques for Hanekawa."

"For Hanekawa?"

Hiruzen paused in surprise. "Does he still have the energy to learn Lightning Release?"

As the student of Tsunade and a rising genius, Hanekawa was someone Hiruzen paid close attention to.

To his knowledge, Hanekawa had already trained in swordsmanship, genjutsu, and medical ninjutsu.

Most ninja would struggle to master just one of those disciplines, yet he was training in three—and now Lightning Release as well?

"Geniuses can't be measured by common sense," Tsunade replied with a small smile. "He's already mastered Monstrous Strength."

"What?"

Hiruzen's face was full of astonishment.

"He is my student, after all," Tsunade said proudly, lifting her chin.

"You've certainly found yourself a remarkable student," Hiruzen admitted. "His achievements might even rival Minato's."

The Flying Thunder God technique was invaluable, but an excellent medical ninja was no less impressive.

"Sei," Hiruzen called out.

An ANBU ninja wearing a mask appeared.

"Fetch three basic Lightning Release scrolls," Hiruzen instructed.

"Yes," Sei replied before turning and leaving.

"Just three?"

Tsunade frowned, clearly dissatisfied. "Can't you be a little more generous, old man?"

"Come back for more when he's learned those," Hiruzen explained. "Taking too many at once isn't good."

"Fine."

Tsunade reluctantly accepted his reasoning.

Once she had the scrolls, she left the Hokage's office.

---

By the afternoon, the theoretical exams had ended.

After saying goodbye to his classmates, Hanekawa headed to Tsunade's house.

"New mission."

Tsunade, lounging on the sofa, casually tossed a mission scroll to him.

Hanekawa caught it and opened it.

Roran?

His heart skipped a beat.

This was the storyline from the Naruto movie The Lost Tower.

In the original story, after Sasuke defected, Naruto Uzumaki, Yamato, Sakura Haruno, and Sai pursued a rogue ninja named Mukade to the ancient kingdom of Roran.

Thanks to Minato's Flying Thunder God mark and an explosion of Dragon Vein energy, Naruto was sent back in time.

The "past" that Naruto traveled to… was essentially Hanekawa's present timeline.

In other words, he would soon encounter the future versions of Naruto and his team.
