Diana pulled Chase eagerly toward the first ride she spotted. It was a standard roller coaster: a steep climb, a dramatic drop, followed by a series of sharp twists and turns. Chase glanced at it with mild interest before stepping in front to guide her toward the fast pass line. The regular line was packed, unsurprising for a summer weekend.
As they made their way past the crowd, Chase ignored the stares and whispers from bystanders, though he noticed Diana seemed oblivious. Reaching the front of the line, they waited as the group ahead climbed aboard. The ride screeched into motion, eliciting shrill screams from its passengers.
Diana observed the chaos with a determined expression before turning to Chase. "Whoever screams out of shock or fear first loses," she declared confidently.
Chase raised an eyebrow. "Okay," he said, already certain of his victory. He doubted she'd last, and for some reason, it was impossible for him to imagine her beating him at this.
