Lucas stared at Maya with a thin, forced smile. His hand slowly rose, and his fingers gently touched Maya's head.
"Mom, tonight will be... interesting," he whispered softly, his voice low and cold.
Maya looked slightly confused but maintained her usual smile. "You're acting strange tonight, Lucas. Go get some rest, sweetheart. I'll call you when dinner is ready."
Lucas gave a small nod before turning and heading up the stairs to his room. Every step felt heavy, not from exhaustion, but from the anger he was barely holding back.
When the bedroom door closed and locked, a cold, mechanical voice echoed in his mind.
