Chapter 33 - Assassination 1

At this moment, it was almost dark. The red color of the burning clouds was gradually fading away, the setting sun was constantly sinking, and the golden rays were disappearing bit by bit. Soon, the land would be covered by the black curtain of night.

I huddled behind the carriage, not daring to look over there. All I could hear was the Earl shouting loudly, "Who sent you? The reinforcements of King Atlante will be here soon."

I couldn't help but poke my head out to look at that reckless man. With the support of Lady Pesna, he was berating the black knights.

The black-armored knights on the tall black horses remained unmoved. In just a few seconds, when the first black cloud moved to the position of the setting sun, the leading black knight raised his long sword. A purplish-black light burst out from the sword, emitting a huge black halo that expanded larger and larger, almost reaching us. Frightened, I quickly closed my eyes again.

I could hear the sounds of the wind sweeping away the clouds, the howling of the strong wind, the clashing of sword blades, and occasionally the screams of women. All kinds of sounds were mixed together, coming from all directions. My eyes were still tightly shut, and I didn't dare to open them. At this time, the maids beside me were exclaiming in amazement.

"Lord Aaron is so mighty!"

"If I could stay by his side for a night or two, I would have no regrets even if I died."

Their exclamations kept reaching my ears. Trembling, I slowly opened my eyes.

The black clouds were in the sky, and the burning clouds had not completely disappeared. Under the black and red sky, Aaron raised his silver long sword high, just like a brave warrior in a holy war. His eyes emitted a strange light in the light of the sword. Immediately after that, the sword in his hand was faster than lightning. When he slashed down with force, the pillar-like white light shooting out from the sword rushed towards the black knights. With a loud "boom", several columns of light burst out beside a black knight on a black horse, rushed into the sky, scattered into starlight, and turned into long sharp blades in mid-air, stabbing straight at the black knight at lightning speed.

The black knight didn't even have time to scream before he was turned into pieces of flesh and blood in a mass of white light.

The fragments of the dismembered body were flying everywhere. Blood, white light, the red of the setting sun, and the black of the night sky were mixed together. The broken black armor was flying in the cold wind and scattered all over the ground.

The strong smell of blood hit my nose. Suddenly, I remembered the feeling when I was in the mass grave for the first time. Unconsciously, I held onto a corner of the carriage and vomited violently, spitting out nothing but acid water and the remains of food. The maids covered their noses, frowned, and quickly moved away from me, hiding in another corner. I didn't stop vomiting until a while later.

In the blink of an eye, the wind and clouds changed, sand and stones were flying everywhere, and it was getting darker and darker. It was impossible to clearly see the process of their fierce battle. I could only barely judge who had the upper hand and who was at a disadvantage by the color of the clothes under the light of the swords.

Not far away, the sound of horse hooves as rapid as raindrops came. I couldn't help but turn around to look. I saw a group of iron-armored guards on tall white horses rushing towards us. I recognized their iron armor, which was exactly the same as that of the guards at the castle gate. It seemed that the reinforcements had arrived.

The black knights also noticed the arrival of the reinforcements. They intensified their fighting efforts, hoping to finish the battle quickly. For a while, black halos rose everywhere, mixing with the black night curtain, and rushed towards Aaron in front with great force. With a loud "bang", all the sword lights rushed over, uprooting several big trees. The big trees fell heavily to the ground. Although Aaron dodged quickly, he was still swept away by this powerful air current. My vision was blurred, and I couldn't see clearly where he had been swept to. I just vaguely felt that it seemed to be in our direction.

At this time, sticky liquid dripped down from the top of my head, one drop, two drops. Curiously, I touched it with my hand. In the white sword light that Aaron raised again, I saw clearly that it was bright red blood. I was stunned and touched the top of my head again. My hands were covered with blood.

"Ah..." A horrified sound came out of my throat, and tears streamed down my face. "Oh my god..."

Aaron was not far from me just now. It must be his blood.

The other maids vaguely saw me looking like a blood-soaked person in the white sword light and quickly took a few steps back from me.

The reinforcements had arrived. They were holding burning torches high in their hands, illuminating this battlefield. The black knights were like a group of black devils. Aaron was covered in blood from head to toe, looking like a blood-soaked man. The reinforcements rushed into the battlefield and engaged in a fierce battle with the black knights.

Sword lights were everywhere, and there was fighting everywhere. The battlefield was in chaos.

Among the interlacing of black and white sword lights, Aaron walked slowly with his sword in hand, approaching the carriage step by step. We who were hiding behind the carriage became nervous, not knowing what he intended to do.

After approaching the carriage, a fierce light flashed in his eyes. Then, at an extremely fast speed, he pulled me out from behind the carriage. I let out a shrill scream again, "Ah, no, don't..."

I had no idea what he was going to do, but instinctively, I felt that it definitely wasn't a good thing.
