Across town, Pasco sat in a dimly lit café, his laptop
open but forgotten as he stared at his phone. A photo of Debbie at the temple trip in Thailand stared back at him. She looked radiant, her smile as bright as the sun that day. Yet, it was Felix in the background of the photo, laughing with her, that twisted Pasco's stomach.
He hated how his jealousy felt like chains around his chest. Why had he let her go? Why had he chosen the fleeting excitement of another relationship over the woman who had been willing to fight for him?
Pasco picked up his phone and dialed Debbie's
number but hung up before it rang. Coward. He had
never been able to face his emotions with her.
