Ava should've known something was up the moment she saw Mei's unusually innocent expression over breakfast. It was the kind of look that suggested mischief, hidden under a thin veneer of sincerity. Mei had been uncharacteristically quiet ever since Ethan's matchmaking profile stunt, which should have been a red flag in itself. Quiet Mei was plotting Mei.
So when Mei waltzed into the dining area of their suite, wearing a brightly patterned scarf and holding a clipboard with a suspicious number of colorful notes stuck to it, Ava immediately narrowed her eyes.
"Oh no," Ava said, putting her coffee down. "What is that?"
Mei smiled sweetly. "Good morning to you too, dear."
Ryan, sitting across from Ava and munching on a bagel, raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess. Whatever's on that clipboard is going to make us miserable."
"Nonsense!" Mei chirped. "It's going to be fun. Team-building fun."
