Nothingness surrounded me. There was no cold or heat, neither above nor below.
Just an infinite void that kept me suspended, as if my very existence were just a distant echo.
I don't remember my name, or how I got there.
There were no memories, not a fragment I could grab to reconstruct my identity. Just one certainty: he had just woken up.
I opened my eyes, but the darkness was total. At first I thought I was blind, but soon I realized I could see... something. Small sparkles, ephemeral lights that danced around like lost stars. I focused on them, trying to make out a pattern, a shape, anything.
Suddenly, a voice echoed in my mind. It was soft but powerful, with a tone that mixed authority and mystery.
[Wake up. Your existence has been selected for a greater purpose.]
The void began to shake, and a figure appeared in front of me. It wasn't human, nor was it something I could easily describe.
His form was changeable, fluctuating between a gentle face and an imposing figure.
His eyes shone like gems of liquid light, and his presence filled every corner of the darkness.
Who am I? —I ask, surprised by the sound of my own voice, as if I were hearing it for the first time.
The figure did not respond directly. Instead, he extended a hand, and a glowing symbol appeared in it, a Chalice made up of runes that pulsed with golden energy.
[It doesn't matter who you were. Now you have been reborn. You are a carrier of the Holy Grail System.
Your destiny is to fight and overcome the challenges that will be presented to you. But first, I will give you the necessary tools.]
Suddenly, a torrent of information flooded my mind.
I felt something like chains unraveling inside me, opening doors to knowledge and powers I didn't know existed.
Words like "Noble Phantasm", "Heroic Spirit" "Mana" floated in my mind, each one loaded with a deep meaning that I was beginning to understand instinctively.
[This system will allow you to summon skills and weapons of the most legendary heroes. Those who accepted the call of the Grail and left their mark on history. But every power has a price. Use your wits, or you will be consumed by it.]
An invisible menu appeared before my eyes, floating in the air.
It looked like something out of a video game, with shiny options twinkling at my fingertips.
°Class: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, Berserker.
°Noble Phantasm available: Excalibur, Gáe Bolg, Rule Breaker, Aestus Domus Aurea…
Without knowing what I could choose. However, before he could decide, a warning appeared on the menu:
[Warning: Powers locked. Initial activation depends on your first test]
The figure in front of me smiled, although the darkness made it impossible to tell if it was a smile of encouragement or mockery. .
[Your first test starts now. Get ready]
Without warning, the darkness tore apart, and the void was replaced by a ruined world.
Broken columns, blood-red skies, and a wind that smelled of desperation enveloped me.
In the distance, he could hear roars, as if something monstrous was approaching.
A simple sword appeared in my hands, unadorned, but with an energy that pulsed with every beat of my heart. A final voice echoed in his mind as the system flashed before me.
[Prove that you are worthy of this power. Survive]
Before I could take my first step.
The roar was deafening. A rush of instinct coursed through me, driving my muscles to tense, my mind to cling to the sword as if it were my only salvation.
The creature emerged from the rubble: a grotesque monster, an amalgamation of shadow and metal, with eyes that glowed like burning coals. The body seemed to be made of broken pieces of corroded armor and weapons, as if desperation itself had shaped it.
His body rumbled with every step, and as he got closer, the temperature around him dropped sharply, filling the air with a skin-burning cold.
A chill ran down my spine.
The sword trembled in his hand, not because of the monster's strength, but because of the fear that was paralyzing him. His legs wanted to move, but they were stuck to the ground.
"No… I can't handle this…" I murmur, feeling my voice break.
The voice resonated in my mind, firm and almost indifferent:
[Run or fight. There is no other option]
The monster let out a second roar, so heartbreaking that its echo seemed to twist reality.
The system appeared before my eyes, displaying information that I could barely process.
[Entity: Level 1 Corruptor
Danger: Moderate
Recommended strategy: Direct attack. Analyzing available skills...]
"¿Moderate? Is this moderate?" I think with my heart hammering in my chest. But I don't have time to question further. The creature raised one of its deformed arms, a claw as big as it, and let it fall towards my position.
Out of pure instinct, he jumped to the side. The claw touched the ground where it was a second ago, leaving a crater that spat out dust and debris. The impact threw me to the ground, rolling onto my back, staring at the monster that was already turning towards me.
It's going to kill me... This is too much. I feel my voice starting to break
But the voice returned, implacable:
[If you don't fight, you will die. If you fight, maybe you will live. Use what I have given you. Activate Mana Burst]
[Unlocked skill: Mana Burst. Activate it to boost attacks.]
Without knowing how, my thoughts aligned with the order.
A sudden heat flared up inside me, as if the blood itself began to boil. The sword in my hand glowed faintly, and an unknown energy coursed through my muscles.
He picked me up unsteadily and raised his sword. The monster watched me, its burning eyes fixed on me as if it enjoyed the terror on my face.
Come on! he shouted, but the tremor in my voice betrayed my forced bravery.
I run towards the creature, with each step I feel my being shake by its presence.
The sword arced through the air, impacting the monster's arm. The blade cut, but not as much as I expected.
A dark, sticky liquid gushed from the cut, and the monster grunted, backing away for an instant.
Did I achieve it?
I think a slight ray of hope illuminating my mind.
But the monster was not finished. His growl turned into a roar of pure fury. With one blow, he swept the air with his injured arm, hitting me with such force that I was thrown, rolling across the ground until I crashed into a collapsed pillar.
The pain shot through me like lightning. He felt a metallic taste in his mouth and a sting in his ribs.
I'm going to die... This is impossible... I just woke up....
The darkness seemed to tighten around me, and vision began to waver. But then, the system appeared once again:
[Accumulated energy: 25%. Partial Noble Phantasm unlocked: Proto-Excalibur.
Warning: Limited use. Imminent physical impact]
The sword in my hand began to change, transforming. It was no longer a simple leaf, but something majestic. Golden engravings began to appear on the surface, and a golden glow illuminated the surroundings.
The fear did not disappear, but something inside me awakened, a strength that was not mine, but that enveloped me like a warm hug.
The monster charged again, its deformed body moving with impossible speed. But this time, I didn't back down.
He lifted me up, sword raised, and when the creature was a few meters away, he screamed at the top of my lungs.
—DIEE
Light exploded from the sword, a torrent of pure energy that passed through the creature as if it were paper. The impact was devastating, illuminating the darkness like eternal lightning. The shock wave threw him back, but the monster furiously got back up but stopped, suddenly its body breaking into fragments that disintegrated in the air.
Everything was quiet, except for the sound of my labored breathing.
The sword returned to its simple form, and I feel my strength slowly leaving me.
When all was silent, he fell to his knees, gasping. The system spoke for the last time before my vision blacked out.
[Test passed. Power charge: 45%.
Access to next skill level allowed]
I fall to my knees, holding myself with my sword as my vision darkens. Before everything died down, the voice returned, calm but firm:
[You have done well, Master. But this is just the beginning]
And then the darkness claimed me again.
The void had returned again, that unfathomable darkness enveloped me, although this time it did not feel like a prison, but rather like a place of transition.
A space suspended between what was and what was to come.
My body felt lighter, and although I was still tired from the battle, something had changed within me. It was as if a part of my essence had aligned with the energy of the system. The same voice that had woken me up rang out again, now clearer, almost familiar:
[You have passed your first test. Now is the time to define your path, Master. Your class and your heroic spirit will determine your destiny in this world. Choose wisely]
In front of me, seven symbols shone in the darkness, floating in the air like stars:
Saber: Servants of this class are melee warriors, agile and powerful, experts in swordsmanship.
This class has the highest levels in everything except the Magic attribute.
Servants of this class have high ratings in all categories, and compatible Heroic Spirits usually excel in their powerful burst attacks.
Class abilities include the highest magic resistance of all classes and the ability to ride as a rider, as the Rider class does.
Archer: Servants summoned under this class tend to stand out for possessing powerful Heroic Treasures.
They are capable of acting as highly effective scouts.
They have high Magic Resistance as a class ability, so most modern sorcerers are unable to deal damage to them.
They also possess "Independent Action", which allows them the ability to act independently for a period of time without an active supply of magical energy.
Lancer: Servants that belong to the Lancer class are very agile, experts in hit-and-run tactics that take advantage of both range and speed, skilled with powerful melee weapons, such as spears.
His unique class ability is his magic resistance and battle continuation.
Although these "tend to be less flashy than the other classes," they demonstrate great reliability.
Rider: Servants placed in this class are those known to use riding mounts, live animals, or machines during their lives.
In general, they have lower attributes compared to the three knight-type classes, but the capacity of the mounts described in their legends makes up for it by granting great range or Noble Phantasm abilities.
They have the ability to resist magic and have a high riding rank, allowing them to fully utilize the capabilities of their mounts.
Depending on the category, they can take full control of everything from simple horses, modern machinery such as motorcycles, airplanes, and even divine beasts.
The only exception is Dragon-type creatures, which cannot be tamed or used as mounts.
Caster: Servants placed in this class are experts in magic, and the only requirement to qualify is mastery of the highest level of magical arts, compared to the specific parameter requirements of the other classes.
His class ability is Territory Creation, a minor form of Reality Sphere, altering the surrounding lands in favor of his sorcery and Tool Building, allowing the mage to create magical items and tools.
Because it does not possess any strong stats, they generally have low combat capabilities, and because most Servants have some form of magic resistance, this class is believed to be the weakest of the seven.
This perception can become an advantage, as they are sometimes underestimated, often to the misfortune of their enemies.
Assassin: Servants of this class are especially skilled in covert, stealth, and silent operations.
This class is one of the weakest in direct combat; its members possessing low attributes in the same due to not having glorious legends as heroes; As such, they specialize in killing Masters rather than Servants.
He is a rarity compared to the more formal classes of knights who believe in fair duels and chivalry in combat; Assassin-class Servants attack using the most unfair conditions to their advantage; and it is thus possible for an Assassin to confront or defeat other Servants. The Assassin class skill is "Presence Cloaking," which allows them to remain hidden while spying or preparing to ambush their targets.
Berserker: Servants placed in this class are heroic spirits who have lost their minds during battle at least once in their lives.
This feature allows them to use the special ability, Madness Charm, which exchanges their consciousness and sanity for a large increase in power. This class is usually for sorcerers who have summoned heroic spirits with insufficient skills and attributes, allowing them to strengthen their Servants to compensate for their lower attributes and compete against stronger rivals. While it is ideal for Servants to reach the level of Heroic Spirit, the class allows their attributes to surpass even the original.
Using this ability to create powerful Servants has made the referred class the strongest of all the seven classes.
This class comes at a price, as the berserker class is the most difficult to control and a master must expend a large amount of additional prana simply to maintain the berserker, and the affected heroic spirit may lose access to certain skills or even noble phantasms where theServant must call him by name to activate it, depending on the amount of sanity that brought him to power.
Words emerged in my mind, explanations that felt like they had always been there.
In front of each symbol were projected vague, barely visible figures of the heroic spirits associated with each class. The voice continued:
[Within each class, a Servant will answer your call. Her Noble Phantasms abilities and story will be yours to use, but remember: every choice carries weight. Now, select your class]
I close my eyes for a moment, feeling how each symbol seemed to pulse with energy, awaiting my decision. Finally, he extended his hand towards one of them:
Select your class
