Chapter 65 - Arresting the teacher

Looking at the sight of Gao Qiang's blood-soaked body, I gritted my teeth, clenching my fists in anger and said, "Gao Qiang, you won't die in vain. I will soon find out who the real culprit behind the development of those explosive pills is, and then completely destroy them so they can never harm anyone again."

At this moment, Li Siqi also said, "Master, I will work with He Sheng to find the culprit. I'll take care of the forensic department. I will make it as lively as it used to be!"

Both of us stood over Gao Qiang's body, swearing that, despite our sorrow, the most important thing right now was to find the murderer and solve the case.

As we left the morgue, Li Siqi asked me, "Are you suspecting Professor Huo?"

"Yes, I suspect that Gao Qiang was taken by him, and then he..."

"You don't need to say more, I understand. We need to find evidence. I don't believe my forensic skills can't find his traces," Li Siqi said confidently.

"So what do you want to do?"

"Let's go to the last place where Master disappeared!"

Honestly, I didn't think there was much hope, but seeing how serious Li Siqi was, I had no choice but to accompany her to the vicinity of Xinyue Square and that street.

At the scene, she took out her forensic kit and started scanning around. I asked if she wanted to bring Zhao Simeng along, but she refused, saying she didn't want to rely on her sister every time.

I helped her as we searched, and when we reached a tree, Li Siqi suddenly stepped on something. When she moved the scanner, she noticed a lot of bushes on the ground, but when she stepped on it, the ground felt hollow!

We were both stunned and immediately realized why Professor Huo had disappeared so suddenly. If this place had a hole, he could fall down to the lower level at any time, and Gao Qiang would think he had vanished.

We called several officers to open the underground iron plate, and soon Zhao Simeng arrived as well. Was this going to be like the West European Bullet Ant Lab we found before?

But we decided to proceed, and quickly reached the lower level. To our surprise, we found that the area was filled with bottles of chemicals, some precision equipment, and many discarded painkiller bottles in trash bins.

Zhao Simeng put on rubber gloves and picked up a bottle, saying, "If there are Professor Huo's fingerprints on these, that would be a major clue."

"But why is his lab so easy to find?" Xiao Yuande asked.

"Not really. I had almost given up, but Li Siqi insisted on coming. Professor Huo must have thought we wouldn't find this place," I said. Just as I was speaking, we heard strange noises coming from the lab.

Before I could ask what was going on, a hole suddenly opened above us, and piles of sand and dirt began to pour down on us!

"Not good!" I shouted. By now, nearly the entire investigation team was in the lab. Two officers outside must have been knocked unconscious, and a large amount of sand was flooding in, likely poured in from above after someone broke the floor.

I thought, this much sand must require a truck!

As I was thinking, we were completely covered in sand. With sand about to cover our faces, I pressed on my ring button.

Even though Zhao Simeng was right here, I still pressed it. She was so close that I could hear her breathing, so I hugged her tightly and said, "We won't die!"

"Will we? The place is full of sand."

"We won't!" I kept reassuring her, but to my surprise, Zhao Simeng suddenly kissed me on the cheek.

The sand was almost covering our faces, and we were about to suffocate. But at the last moment, the sand stopped falling, and we heard screams and the sound of people being restrained.

It seemed the SWAT team had arrived. They immediately smashed the floor and came down, tying us with ropes and slowly pulling us out.

When we were safely back outside, we took deep breaths. We had really thought we were going to die. After stepping outside, Zhao Simeng and I both felt a little embarrassed.

Many SWAT officers were holding down people around us. We noticed that they all had their faces covered, but Professor Huo was not among them.

"These people must have been sent by Professor Huo," I said.

"Let's go capture him!" Zhao Simeng suggested. I immediately ordered the team to take action. A few minutes later, we found that Professor Huo was indeed trying to escape. He knew his plans had been exposed and had bought a plane ticket to flee the country, but we intercepted him halfway.

We brought Professor Huo back to the interrogation room, and his lawyer was by his side.

I had expected him to bring a lawyer. Once we were in the interrogation room, I asked, "Professor, why? What were you thinking?"

"He Sheng, this is a question I should ask you," Professor Huo replied.

"They all say it's you who gave the orders to kill us! Teacher."

"Ugh, a bunch of useless fools. Maybe I should never have trusted the He Tou gang. They were the ones who ruined me!" he shouted.

"He Tou gang?"

"Yes, they're a group of local thugs from Fuming City, and they often clash with the Mingxin gang in the city."

"How did you get involved with them?"

"I was just trying to protect myself. But I didn't do anything!"

At this moment, his lawyer, Qian Guangliang, interjected, "You can't force Professor Huo to speak. I'll answer for him."

I replied, "The fingerprints on the painkiller bottles, the testimony from the people who tried to kill us, and the statement from Manager Du of Longteng Pharmaceutical—don't you think that's enough evidence?"

As soon as I said this, the lawyer fell silent.

Qian Guangliang was one of the most well-known lawyers in Fuming City with his own law firm. But now, with all the evidence pointing at Professor Huo, he was powerless to help.

Professor Huo yelled at him, "What did I hire you for, if you're just going to back down with one question?"

"Let's see if we can find a way to handle the procedure. I believe there's still a chance!" Qian Guangliang replied.

"Heh, don't get your hopes up. But if you like going through procedures, feel free to try!" Professor Huo sneered.

I left after saying that. It wasn't that I didn't care about our teacher-student relationship, but I didn't want to see him making excuses to avoid the charges.

He was no longer the teacher who used to guide us in university, but a twisted scientist who killed without hesitation.

In his lab, we found a large amount of materials for making explosive pills. How many explosive pills was he planning to make to harm people? Fortunately, these pills hadn't been sold yet.

As for the people he killed, they had no direct connection with Professor Huo. They died because he had hired people to kill us and spread his plans.
