Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Why break into someone else’s room?

Evelyn Steele actually heard the discussions and quickly found out who the protagonist they were talking about was.

The other person was standing on the terrace of the rest area on the second floor, with a sweet and naive smile, and seemed to be acting coquettishly with someone.

His features vaguely resemble hers.

Evelyn Steele's gaze stayed on the other person's neck for two seconds, and without stopping, she walked directly to the door of her room, opened it, and went in.

——

Ethan Cole suddenly stood up, pushed aside the velvet curtains, and looked towards the corridor: "Who just came over?"

Lila Carter turned around blankly and saw no one. "No one."

Jason Bennett smiled and said, "It's the servant, right? Ziang, you are too absent-minded. Lila is talking to you and you still have time to think about other things."

Because of the effect of alcohol, Lila Carter's cheeks had a blush.

She smiled and said, "It's okay. I'm already very happy that you guys can help me celebrate my birthday. My seventeenth birthday is really precious to have you guys."

Jason Bennett looked at her beautiful face, his eyes flickering slightly: "Really? It's my honor."

He has a pair of fox eyes and is always smiling. He looks much more approachable than Ethan Cole.

When he looks at you with a smile, it seems as if you are his only one, making people intoxicated.

Lila Carter's face turned even redder, and she whispered, "Don't laugh at me, I really think so."

After a while, she saw the servants bringing up some snacks and said with a smile, "It's not good to drink on an empty stomach. I asked someone to bring some snacks over. Come and have a taste..."

As he spoke, he walked over and tried to take the tray from the servant.

The servant was a little embarrassed. Mr. Anderson, who followed behind, said in a deep voice: "Hurry up and send it to Evelyn Steele's room."

Having said that, he ignored Lila Carter and walked straight towards the room. When he reached the door, his body suddenly stiffened and he said to himself, "Oh no!"

When I pushed open the door, I saw Evelyn Steele standing in front of the dressing table. She casually opened the drawer and took a look. Her eyes were dim and it was impossible to tell whether she was happy or angry.

Lila Carter had already followed Mr. Anderson in. "Butler, you don't have to send it to my room. I mean send it to the terrace on the second floor! Forget it, just give it to me..."

Suddenly seeing Evelyn Steele, she frowned subconsciously, "Who are you, why are you barging into someone else's room, you..."

Gradually the sound died down.

Evelyn Steele looked at the other person with some surprise. In the novel, Lila Carter appeared with a girlish naivety and confusion, and often did things like falling into a man's arms. This was also one of her most charming qualities. Evelyn Steele thought she had poor eyesight, but now it seems that she is obviously not stupid.

She smiled calmly: "Yeah, why are you barging into someone else's room? Who are you?"

Mr. Anderson's face was filled with embarrassment. What the hell are you doing, sir?

"This is... Miss Lila Carter, the guest that the gentleman invited back." This was the only answer Mr. Anderson could give.

"I know." Evelyn Steele sat down on the chaise longue next to her, picked up the pillow and held it in her arms, supported her head with one hand, looked at Lila Carter and smiled faintly.

"She is the little girl from the Chen family back then, I didn't expect that after thirteen years, she has grown up so much."

She clearly didn't mention anything else, but Lila Carter just felt inexplicably embarrassed.

This was not what she had imagined.

Wasn't Evelyn Steele ill for several years? People who were hospitalized for a long time usually had abnormal and twisted mentality. When she came home and suddenly saw someone else had taken her place, shouldn't she have made a scene?

Lila Carter looked at the pair of almond-shaped eyes that were smiling nonchalantly, and suddenly she felt as if something had stabbed her heart.

"Change the layout of this room back to the previous one." Evelyn Steele suddenly ordered, "Change the sheets and bedding for me."

A strange look flashed across Lila Carter's eyes. She knew that Evelyn Steele's true colors were finally revealed.

"Excuse me, is this your room?" Lila Carter was flustered, her eyes full of self-blame. "I'm sorry, I didn't know you were coming back. It rained heavily last night and the window of my room was not closed, so I got wet in the rain. My uncle insisted that I move in. I'll have someone take my things back now..."

She looked extremely guilty, with tears in her eyes, and was hurriedly preparing to leave, holding her pillow.

"Lila, what are you doing?" Jason Bennett's somewhat surprised voice sounded outside the door, "Wait, you want to move back to the previous room? It's soaked in water and can't be lived in! Who asked you to move out?"

The last sentence was tinged with anger.

Ethan Cole also glanced at the servant at the door with an unhappy look, and walked with his long legs, his voice carrying a hint of oppression: "Who's in there?"

As he spoke, he walked in, and then the tall figure of the young man froze instantly.

Evelyn Steele, wearing an outdated dress and looking very thin, was sitting on the chaise longue and talking on the phone.

"Teacher...it's okay. You have to have confidence in our medicine...Okay, I will record the medication data...You are too kind. What do you mean by benefiting mankind? I am doing this for myself."

At the end of her speech, she smiled, her eyes shining with confidence and composure.

His eyes turned and he saw Ethan Cole. He put away his phone and greeted him with a smile: "Zi'ang, long time no see."

This person is like a painting.

Ethan Cole was in a dream.

"Evelyn?" Jason Bennett pulled Lila Carter over to settle accounts with someone. When he saw Evelyn Steele, his fox eyes flashed, and he quickly smiled and walked forward, opening his arms in an intimate manner, "Welcome home!"

Evelyn Steele avoided his hug. She disliked Jason Bennett's bad habit since she was a teenager. But he grew up abroad and was accustomed to Western people's etiquette and enthusiasm. In addition, he lost his father at that time, and Evelyn Steele was asked to take care of her younger brother, so she could only reluctantly accept his bad habits.

But now, both of them have grown up.

The smile on Jason Bennett's face paused for a moment, then he smiled again and shrugged, seeming a little helpless.

Ethan Cole also reacted, and gave Jason Bennett a warning look, and looked at Evelyn Steele with a deep and heavy gaze, "When did you come back? Why didn't you ask someone to pick you up?"

Evelyn Steele smiled and did not answer the question. Instead, she looked at Lila Carter who was pulled over by Jason Bennett and stood quietly aside.

"Which of these things are yours? Butler, ask a few servants to help her move them."

Lila Carter seemed to be slow to react. "Sorry, sorry, I'll move right away!"

She was in a panic and stumbled while picking up things, almost tripping over herself. It was Ethan Cole, who was closest to her, who couldn't bear to see it and pulled her up, saving her from hitting her head on the closet.

Lila Carter touched her head, looking a little annoyed, "Thank you, Brother Ziang."

Her expression is sweet and natural, and when she smiles, she is as bright as a spring flower, yet she has a natural fragility that makes people want to protect her.

Ethan Cole's icy face seemed to relax a little, and his lips pursed slightly: "Where are you moving to? Your previous room is no longer habitable."
