Before opening my eyes the day that everything changed, I was just a normal guy from Spain. With a normal dishwasher job with normal revenue on a restaurant, a normal family, a normal group of friends... Everything was just avarage, not that I'm complaining for that life. I loved all my people, and even if It wasn't the best job, I was happy with it and my monthly paycheck was better than most of normal people, only beacuse the restaurant I worked for was part of a five star luxury hotel. I enjoyed my time with my friends going out and doing some random crazy stuff.
The only thing out of that normality was my heart problem, not a good thing really. It started to strike strong this last month not to long after my twenty two birthday, my father had to take me to the hospital due to a sudden pain in my chest. It was a hard week, when I wasn't unable to even talk due to the pain I was fainted and between that two states either I was talking with my family or friends who often came to visit me or doing either one of my hobbies.
I was more of a gamer type but from two years ago I got really into webnovels, specially those with female leads in medieval worlds or some type of victorian era, maybe beacuse I wasn't that acostumed to reading or playing stories with female protagonist that this type of novel grew a lot in me beacuse they were like "fresh air".
Although I dropped them when they turned the standard "female with six to seven man around her trying to flirt and marry her". I never was a fan of the harem prototype even in stories with male main characters, but even If I liked that kind of novel I was still a straight man and the idea of countless mans chasing around and seducing the female lead just didn't go well into me, not that I disliked a normal romance though.
The last memory I have of my past life was me reading one of my favorite novels before starting to sucumb to an horrific pain in my chest again. The pain was so much that I just fainted in the bed hearing the violents beeps of the machines. When I oppened the eyes I saw an unknown furniture, lying in an unknown bed in an unknown place.
— What the hell...
I said for my self before going out of the bed, my body felt extrange, my head was dizzy and I was almost unable to stand up. I started looking for my glasses but in no time my eyesight became clear, I could see even without glasses so I started to look around, watching a enormous bed in this white room with pink ornaments. I was freaking out, I didn't even know where the hell was I.
— I was in the hospital before I fainted, where the hell is this place...
I said to my self noticing that my voice... Well wasn't MY voice at all. It was a gentle female voice that I have never even heard not a single time in my life.
— What the fu... I need a god damn mirror man what the hell is this!
I said searching with my eyes looking for a mirror that I found literally next to the bed. I rushed like my life was on the line to it and looked my reflection just to be horrified with It, that wasn't me or well; It may be me but not in my body that was for sure. I looked in detail, I was seeing a beautiful white haired (with black at the roots of the hair) Young woman, with scarlet eyes, a well cared white as porcelain skin and being honest- a very sexy body with some good bust but not the point of being enormous like some random anime girl. But even If It was a fest for my eyes, It wasn't me and I was really scared.
— Yo... What the... WHAT THE FUCK!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?!
I couldn't help but scream completly devastated at this sight, I knew for sure It wasn't a dream, everything felt just to real for It to be one.
Not that long after that painfully loud scream, a unknown woman rushed inside the room, dressed as a maid.
— Young lady Anna what happened!?
Said coming closer to me while I turned my head a little bit to the left, looking her in the eyes.
— (Who the hell is Anna?! Man I don't have a clue to what's happening dude, I don't need some random lunatic dressed as a god damned maid right now!) Who are you, identify your self!
I demanded walking backwards until my back hit the wall.
— Uh?! Identify my self?! I've been your maid for your seventeen years of life young lady, it's me; Shelene! Are you feeling unwell young lady?! What's wrong?!
Said while rushing to me, when I processed all that she said my head started to hurt so much that I felt like It was going to burst, I even fell on my knees.
— Oh my god, you are sweating a lot and you have a very high fever! BRING THE PHSYCIAN, QUICK THE YOUNG LAD...
She was talking more but my body and mind colpased making me faint on her arms while my vision was getting blurry. When I came back to my senses I felt a cold that even reached my bones. I opened my eyes while I stood on my feet, I didn't felt any more pain but I couldn't help but wonder where I was now.
I was an empty place, with a lot of stones floating around me some were very small but others were giants. I was standing in one of a medium size but the floor was the one of the hospital I was in before this mess happened.
— Welcome to the Void, the middle of nowhere.
I recognized a male voice, one that only hearing It caused chills down my spine, I was scared but couldn't help but to turn around and look to a... Man... Floating right before me... I even thought for a second that I was in drugs but this feeling... It was real for sure.
— Surprised?
He said before disappearing like nothing was there.
— You don't need to be scared, I'm not going to hurt you.
He appeared again behhind me. I turned around and jumped to create distancie from him by reflex and looked at him in more detail. He was like a thirty to forty year old man wearing a black robe that covered his entire body, leaving only his face visible. His face was grey and his eyes were enterily black, looking at them was like looking right into the abyss.
— W-Who... Who are you?..
I said while looking at him, the man laughed just like that, as if I was asking something stupid.
— Who am I? I am nothing and no one, that's who I am.
I looked at him and proceed to get a step closer. That answer didn't make any sense for me whatsoever.
— I imagine that you are the ruler of this... place? What do you want from me?
I said without hesitation, I just wanted to return to my home with my people, I was starting to miss my dad and sisters.
— What do I want? Nothing more than entertaiment really.
I frowned my eyebrows in annoyance while I clenched my fists. I didn't care anymore, who was him to dare use me for his entertaining?
— You sick motherfucker... Fuck you and your stupid entertaiment! Tell me how the fuck I go back home!
I said full of rage, the man just smirked while appearing suddenly right in front of me. I stood in front of him without hesitation, I wasn't even thinking about putting back a feet.
— You can't go back home, you're dead. In fact you should be gratefull that I just reincarnated you in that body.
My face turn palid while I opened my eyes and mouth in disbelief. I died? At such a young age and in just in one week of being sick? But what was more painfull was that I couldn't see my family again, the images of my dad, my two sisters and my mother were quickly appearing in my mind while I tried to hold on to my tears. I didn't wanted to cry but some of them just scaped out of my control.
— Do you want to know something funny? That body you just possesed, that little female... She's going to die soon too. Isn't It fun?
I looked at him and threw a punch with all my strength but it went through him like he was air. I was raged and sad but couldn't do anything.
— Don't worry, letting you die again is not going to be fun at all is it? That's why I'm giving this to you, my mark. The Mark of the Void.
I looked at the back of my left hand as I felt a burning sensation. A mark with a runic shape appeared and the burning sensation appeared just like that.
— What's this?
I asked while looking and touching the back of my left hand. I could feel a strange energy emanating out of the mark.
— With it you can wield the power of the Void, the girl you are possessing right now suffered an horrific death in the hands of his own father, the emperor. She couldn't do anything but that's going to change.
He grabbed me by the chin and looked to me directly with those abyss-like eyes, I couldn't say nor do anything, it was like if my will left my body.
— Your time here is running out. I can see deep in your eyes something capable of entertaining me, an insane power that in your previous life you couldn't have the chance to awake. Leaving such an interesting individual die like that is not fun at all.
He said while laughing his self off like a mad man.
— The powers of the mark will awaken and adapt to yourself, even I don't know what areyou capable of. I'm just hopping to see what will you do, will you try to get a happy ending or will you destroy and burn everything on your path leaving nothing more than blood and corpses at your feet?
My own self was disappearing from that space while that crazy bastard just watched me go waving his hand.
— We will se eachother again, David. Or should I say Anna? Umhahahaha!..Good luck "little girl".
I clossed my eyes, not beacuse I wanted but more beacuse something forced me to do it. When I opened them I saw the ceiling of the same room I awaked after fainting at the hospital. That maid "Shelene" was there at my side and jumped off the chair she was sitting at and rushed to the door. After she came back a young boy and a young girl stepped in the room in a hurry. The boy had black hair and blue eyes while the little girl had red hair and green eyes, It was very clear that they were son and daughter of a different mother than Anna's. The girl jumped on top of me while crying like I was dead and just resurrected.
— Sister!
Screamed while the young boy that appeared nearly my age, well... more precisely Anna's age; took her off of me.
— Mery, you should not jum on top of sister Anna when she just recovered.
He left the youngest on the floor and approached me, holding my hand.
— I'm so Happy that you are awake, sister.
He said, It was clear like glass that he was holding on his tears, trying to be strong. Feeling his touch I could feel some of the memories of Anna going back to my head, It was a little painfull but atleast I could remember some important things.
— Hey Arthur, Mery... I'm sorry, your big sis has made you worry for nothing...
I said, Arthur started crying while hugging me and Mery went up in the bed hugging me too. Those where Anna's little brothers and the only ones beside Shelene that cared about Anna at the palace. The boy was sixteen years old while the little girl had only seven years. They both were son and daughter of the second empress while Anna was daughter of the first one, while they weren't from the same mother; Anna loved theme just as much as if they were the sons of the same. Although the second empress didn't liked the relationship between the three at all.
— Not for nothing young lady, you've been sleeping for an entire week! The two youngest princes couldn't stay away from you, they have been coming every day to visit you!
Said Shelene, I couldn't believe it, it felt like I passed nothing more than ten minutes at the Void but it was a week in this world. Although I wanted to stay hugged a little bit I needed some space to clear up my mind so I just moved the two sinlings away a bit.
— I see, a week... But I'm fine now, don't worry.
Even if I knew I was David in another body, the memories and feelings of Anna just couldn't stop coming back to this body so I couldn't help but felt them just as my beloved siblings, even thought I really didn't passed any time with them. The maid, the girl and the boy were happy but that feeling suddenly changed just when the emperor entered the room. The heavy sound of footsteps caused by his boots could be heard even from the hallway. Then, a tall man with black hair and green eyes entered the room, It was obvious that he was looking at me without any feeling.
— After the scene you created just one day after your return to the palace, you finally wake up, huh? Make me a favor and clean your self up, you are a disgrace for the royal family.
He said with contempt towards me, it was clear that he would have liked me to not wake up ever again. That was Anna's father after all, the emperor of Gristella Kingdom; Finn Gristella, but I will add him just as "stupid ass emperor". I couldn't help my self but to look at him disgusted, when he noticed my stare at him he frowned his eyebrows and then approached angrily towards me raising his hand. But when Arthur noticed that he was going to hurt me rapidly stood in front of him.
— Father please! Sister just waked up and she was very bad until now! You should treat her well she is your daughter and a princess of this Kingdom too!
Screamed trying to appease his fury.
— She's no sisters of yours Arthur, neither from Mery. And much less my daughter or any princess.
Said the stupid ass emperor, The vein on his forehead was so swollen that it looked like it was going to burst.
— Don't said such hurtful things to sister, she's a princess just like brother and I!
Said the little child hugging me with all her strength. The emperor infuriated by this tried to hit the little girl but Arthur stood in the middle getting the hit and going instantly to the floor; with no hesitation Shelene approached the young prince trying to console him. Me my self just hugged the little girl putting her face in my chest so that she doesn't have to watch such a scene. Thinking of himself as an emperor but doing this things just beacuse he's enfuriated, what a joker of an emperor.
— Tsk... That's what happen when stupid kids try to lecture they're own father!
Said before looking at me. And you know what's the funny out of this? All that hate was just beacuse Anna's mother, the late empress; died giving birth to her. He loved her to the point that he was willing to give his own life for her but that's the way he treats his daughter, worse than a dog; I'm sure that if Anna's mother is watching this in the other side she is disgusted by the emperor. Such a stupid, arrogant and mindless existence is so lame that is not even worth calling him a joke, but seeing how he despise Anna, I wasn't even surprised that he ended up being the one killing her.
— You... Everything happened just beacuse your mother died instead of you... You couldn't just die there on the bed, sliently? Useless piece of garbage.
Those words... I personally didn't really care but Anna's side... Her feelings were really hurt by all this. I didn't say anything, just looked at him, I didn't want to give him the look of my angry face much less a sad one, it wasn't worth at all. After a few minutes he left the room, Arthur and Mery's personal maid took them both by the hand and she went to the physician, aftear all Arthur had an ugly wound in his face and Mery couldn't stop crying.
— Sheesh... What a maniac.
I said to my self before jumping off the bed taking Shelene's hand so she could stand on her feet again, she was shock I suppose beacuse that stupid ass emperor never make such a fuss before. By Anna's memories his hate was clear as the sky but never to this point; that concerned me beacuse the ruler of the Void confirmed that this mad man was the one who's going to kill me in the future.
I looked at my left hand, the mark was still there, and emited a strange bluish light.
— Shelene go out, I will call you if I need something.
Shelene just bowed her head and went straight out of the room, I didn't wanted no one to see me interact with the mark after all...
