Swish!
Four figures landed gracefully on the water at the base of a canyon in the Land of Rivers, standing before a massive boulder.
"The Akatsuki organization is hiding behind this rock," Pakkun said, eyeing the boulder marked with the word "Forbidden." "My mission here is complete. I'll head back and report to Kakashi now."
"Thank you for your help," Guy replied, watching the ninken depart.
Rock Lee's eyes gleamed with excitement as he looked at the boulder. "Behind this rock are actual members of the Akatsuki. I can't wait to see how strong they are!"
"Lee, we can't act recklessly this time," TenTen reminded him. "This isn't just one enemy we're up against."
Kirito, who was carefully scanning the cave with his Byakugan, nodded. "That's correct. Inside, there are two real members of the Akatsuki and six human-shaped phantoms. These must be some kind of ninjutsu. They're currently drawing the tailed beast chakra from Gaara into a giant statue. Gaara's chakra reserves are nearly gone—there's very little hope left."
"Eight enemies?" TenTen's worry was evident.
"Teacher Guy, should we move now or wait for Kakashi's team?" Lee asked cautiously. While he was enthusiastic, he valued Guy's judgment.
"Hmm…" Guy frowned, weighing his options.
Tsunade's instructions were clear: Assist Kakashi's team in rescuing the Kazekage. However, Kakashi's team had yet to arrive, and their plans were unknown. Attacking prematurely risked unnecessary casualties, yet delaying too long could mean Gaara's life was lost.
As Guy deliberated, Kirito stood silently, observing the massive statue—the "Gedo Mazo"—inside the cave with his Byakugan.
The Gedo Mazo's Power
This was Kirito's first time seeing the Gedo Mazo up close. His previous knowledge of it came solely from stories and legends, but now, standing at the edge of its immense presence, he could feel its raw power.
So, this is what the Ten-Tails looks like without its chakra… No, this is Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's form. Does this mean Kaguya is essentially being exposed and drained right now?
While Kirito pondered, one of the many eyes on the Gedo Mazo's forehead suddenly shifted, darting around nervously before locking onto him.
The instant their gazes met, the little leopard perched on Kirito's head suddenly stood on its forelegs, facing the direction of the golem.
"Roar!"
The Gedo Mazo erupted with a deep, guttural roar, shaking the cave violently.
Panic Among the Akatsuki
The sudden outburst caught Pain and the Akatsuki off guard, forcing them to halt their chakra extraction ritual.
"What the hell is going on?!" Hidan shouted, startled.
Pain quickly channeled the power of the Rinnegan, struggling to suppress the rampaging Golem. The phantoms of the other Akatsuki members flickered as the ritual threatened to collapse entirely.
Deidara and Sasori, standing on the Golem's fingers, immediately leapt to safety, watching the chaos unfold from a distance.
"Are you kidding me? Fighting this thing in such a cramped cave is suicide," Deidara muttered.
The Gedo Mazo thrashed violently, tearing at the massive handcuffs that bound its wrists. Despite Pain's best efforts, it seemed intent on breaking free.
"What's causing this?" Pain muttered through gritted teeth. The Gedo Mazo has never acted like this before. Could it be the tailed beast chakra activation?
A Dangerous Instinct
Standing further away, Black Zetsu observed the situation with a grim expression. Is the Golem reacting to something outside? Could it be sensing Kaguya's presence?
He knew the Golem often acted on instinct, obeying the Rinnegan's summoner and craving tailed beast chakra. However, this level of uncontrollable behavior was unprecedented.
"If we don't act quickly, this entire cave could collapse," Deidara quipped as chunks of stone began falling from the ceiling.
"It'll be fine," Pain growled, his Rinnegan flaring with power.
With one final push of his immense chakra, Pain forced the Gedo Mazo back under control. It settled into a seated position, motionless once again.
The Akatsuki members collectively sighed in relief as the chaos subsided.
Pain, visibly weakened from the effort, adjusted his stance. Why did it lose control? Is my power weakening? No… I'll need to accelerate my plans.
The Team's Decision
Outside the cave, Team Three felt the tremors and heard the deafening roar.
"What just happened?" Lee asked, his confusion evident.
"The Akatsuki's giant statue went out of control," Kirito explained, cradling the little leopard in his arms to calm it. He could sense the Golem's ravenous hunger, a desperate desire to devour chakra—his own and the leopard's included.
"That means they're too distracted to fight back effectively," Lee said, his voice brimming with excitement. "Now's the perfect time to strike!"
TenTen nodded. "Lee's right. If we act now, we can catch them off guard."
Guy made his decision. "Let's move. Time is of the essence."
Kirito stepped forward, his Byakugan focused on the boulder ahead. "Leave the barrier to me."
Pressing his hand against the massive rock, Kirito tore away the "Forbidden" seal as though peeling back a curtain. The transparent barrier shattered, and the seal burned away into ash.
Raising his fist, Kirito struck the boulder with immense force.
Crack!
A web of fractures spread from the impact point, and the entire boulder disintegrated into countless pieces, spreading dust everywhere.
As the dust cleared, Team Three saw two figures standing inside the cave, illuminated by the dim light of the Gedo Mazo behind them.
