Chapter 96 - Chapter 96: Two Years

Naruto departed the village, still frustrated by his inability to master Lightning Release. Jiraiya, too, left to take Naruto on a training journey, both to strengthen him and to keep him safe.

When Jiraiya later returned to the village after investigating the Akatsuki organization, he couldn't help but laugh when he learned Naruto was attempting to master Lightning Release techniques.

It wasn't out of malice but because Jiraiya understood that with Naruto's current abilities and background, mastering such a technique would be nearly impossible, especially in such a short time.

Naruto, however, had begun to understand the importance of building a solid foundation. So, when Jiraiya offered to help him strengthen his basics, Naruto was far more receptive than he might have been otherwise.

"Kirito, I'll master Lightning Fang when I return!"

These were Naruto's parting words to Kirito before he left.

[Does Naruto have a special affinity for lightning techniques because of Minato?] Kirito pondered. Minato was famously called the "Yellow Flash" due to his mastery of the Flying Thunder God Technique. If Naruto mastered lightning techniques, would he earn the moniker "Golden Lightning"?

Jiraiya's decision to take Naruto away was more than just training—it was a precaution. Naruto's current strength was insufficient to face the Akatsuki's threats. Jiraiya also knew that by keeping Naruto moving, they could avoid being tracked by the Akatsuki.

Tsunade, trusting Jiraiya, agreed to his plan.

Meanwhile, TenTen received news from Jiraiya about the legendary "Sea of Fire," supposedly located at the infamous Flame Mountain. This mountain was said to burn with an unquenchable flame, creating a deadly, lifeless zone around it. Intrigued by the idea of harnessing such power, TenTen resolved to investigate Flame Mountain.

The other "Konoha 11" were also motivated to improve their abilities after learning about Naruto's departure.

Rock Lee pushed himself harder than ever, striving to unlock the "Sixth Gate: Gate of View." Neji refined his Byakugan techniques, seeking even greater precision. Shikamaru focused on strengthening his strategic skills.

However, Hinata surprised everyone.

"Are you sure you want me to train you?" Kirito asked, bewildered by the shy yet determined girl standing before him.

"Yes!" Hinata replied firmly, despite her visible nerves. "You've helped me before, giving me the courage to face Neji. Now, I want you to train me so I can improve further."

[Naruto leaves, and here comes Hinata. Is this fate?] Kirito mused.

Hinata's request was rooted in frustration. Though she had trained diligently with Neji, she had hit a plateau. Remembering Kirito's reputation as "the strongest Hyuga," she summoned the courage to seek his guidance. Even her father, Hiashi, did not object, recognizing Kirito's strength despite their clan's complicated history.

"Fine, just call me Kirito. Training you will be easy."

"Thank you so much!" Hinata said, bowing deeply.

TenTen, overhearing the exchange, teased Kirito. "I thought you and the Hyuga clan didn't get along?"

"It's complicated," Kirito replied, shrugging. "I don't like the elders or their caged bird system, but I have no problem helping individuals. Stronger allies mean a stronger team."

Although Kirito's own Byakugan far surpassed Hinata's in power, he saw an opportunity to strengthen her abilities, even if reaching the level of a Tenseigan was out of the question.

"Fine, do what you want," TenTen said. "But don't forget—are we still going to Flame Mountain?"

"Yes, we'll go," Kirito assured her.

Before their journey, TenTen focused on gathering materials that could endure high temperatures for her experiments with space-time ninjutsu. If Flame Mountain was as Jiraiya described, she hoped to anchor a teleportation coordinate there, potentially allowing her to harness natural elemental forces in battle.

Meanwhile, Kirito fulfilled another promise: helping Karin remove the bite marks on her body.

Using a combination of medical ninjutsu and techniques learned from Tsunade, including Creation Rebirth, Kirito successfully removed the marks. Karin, now healthy and confident, marveled at the power of medical ninjutsu. Inspired by her experiences at Konoha Hospital, she decided to become a full-fledged medical ninja.

This newfound goal, however, led to a rivalry with Ino, as both signed up to apprentice under Tsunade. The two often bickered about who should be considered the senior student.

A few months later, Kirito and TenTen set off to find Flame Mountain.

In the meantime, Konoha's ninja continued their training, driven to grow stronger in Naruto's absence. Time passed swiftly as the village prepared for the challenges to come.
