"So… you're saying… that was your fault?"
Gwen asked her expression blank as she did not know how to react at this moment. In front if her sat Jonathan who now wore a simple white shirt, his face filled with guilt.
A few minutes ago, she had been hugging Jonathan, in her mind she was preparing to ask for forgiveness from him as she cleared up the misunderstanding but-
"Yeah… I'm sorry- that… some God gave me the power after my performance went viral and then… well I probably collapsed due to the changes and-"
"I was unfortunate to be the first victim of an incubus?"
Gwen finished Jonathan's words causing the young man to instinctively try to turn away but he held himself back as he steeled himself maintaining eye contact with Gwen.
The two stared at each other's eyes, their thoughts had gone different paths leading to vastly different conclusions-
"I'll stay longer and make sure you're fine"
"Let's get you into a costume and finish your tasks"
They spoke at the same time, their voices overlapping but their opposite idea's shocked them both.
Gwen was the first to speak up after this as she took on a composed expression on her face as she spoke in a lecturing tone of voice.
"Don't worry about me, I'm not a weak person-"
But Jonathan cut her off as he spoke, resolution filled his voice, his gaze unwavering.
"No! I can't run off now! After what happened between us-"
"NOTHING HAPPENED!"
"SOMETHING DID!"
"WHAT?! WHAT HAPPENED?! TELL ME! JUST WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED LAST NIGHT?!"
Their conversation quickly turned to a screaming contest as they shot back and forth but Gwen's last retort made Jonathan pause.
"That…"
In truth he was unconscious and he really didn't know what happened. All he knew was that something may have happened but he didn't even know how far Gwen-
"No! I know… I don't remember no… I don't know what exactly happened, I don't remember what WE DID- BUT! Just like how I got my new abilities, I know what kind of deeds I have done and I know that things did not end with just "head"!"
Jonathan spoke with the first things that came to his mind, some of his words were candid and others really not that… great but, the meaning of his words were understood by Gwen.
"..."
It was Gwen's turn to be unable to respond, she knew how far she had gone last night but-
"Gwen…"
Jonathan wasn't really good at being emotional, in fact he always cringe whenever such things happened but-
He was not going to back down now, he was not going to falter to shame. He knew his faults and he would take full responsibility for his actions.
Jonathan stood up and moved his chair next to Gwen's.
Gwen did not move, she just turned her head away, her emotions were in a mess and she could not really make a choice which resulted in her inaction.
"Like I said, I'll take responsibility."
As he said this, Jonathan took Gwen's hand and held it tight.
"But… how about your family?"
Gwen asked, she and Jonathan had previously talked about their circumstances. It was something they both did after realizing that they were in the same situation.
Because of this, Gwen knew that Jonathan still had family in his original world. Unlike her-
"They would understand and… they would forgive me if I brought home a wife"
Jonathan said as he pulled Gwen into his embrace, his words shocking not only him but Gwen as well.
'I know how you feel Gwen… I can't leave you now…'
As much as he wanted to say that he was cold and emotionless, Jonathan still could not leave Gwen.
'This is why I avoided relationships'
He lied to himself constantly, he lived his life fooling his mind and making himself believe one thing, molding his own mind to follow certain rules.
'Just like how I had a hard time letting go of my first pet, toys, laptop, computer, waifu…'
Recalling his past, Jonathan understood the reason why he avoided relationships.
He had a hard time letting go and he gets really attached to things that he had.
'Am I possessive?'
He mused, but when he thought about Gwen…
'I can't just leave her now'
Now that his mind had calmed down, and after he had that screaming contest with Gwen. After he spoke of his ability, about how things went down. All Jonathan could think of was his own mistake.
Was he just being paranoid? But-
'If she gets pregnant and I disappear… How will I return to this world? Will that bastard God even listen to me?'
Jonathan was no idiot, in fact, he was sometimes called a genius. Some of his acquaintances said that he was always holding himself back and they were not really- wrong.
'I can't leave her now that I know about her emotions, her experiences and my sin…'
He could feel Gwen sobbing, although she held back her own voice, the tears that flowed over her cheeks to his hands were enough for him to understand.
Jonathan's mind did not think about the softness of Gwen's body, the feeling of having her sexy and alluring body in his embrace. His mind was clear of any lascivious thoughts as he had only one thing on his mind.
'I want to calm her heat and stop her from crying'
The pain Gwen had was something she most likely held back, her years of solitude, of being a hero trying to do the right thing… all that time she had suffered.
She had lost everything but still kept a happy and upbeat personality to sooth the minds of those she had to save.
The friendly neighborhood Ghost Spider was always there to save the day, making clever quips and funny jokes, she continued to put a smile on peoples face locking away all her negative emotions deep in her mind.
But nothing can be kept hidden forever and the soothing air Jonathan had, his willingness to give up everything for her.
Gwen can't help but release all her pent up emotions, for so long she had been running around saving others but in fact-
"What took you so long…"
She muttered under her breath while clinging onto Jonathan's arms.
Although her voice was low and barely audible, with how close the two were, Jonathan was able to clearly hear her words.
Gwen's words, compared to how she acted when they met up until a while ago… Jonathan had an image of Gwen in his mind. But he always felt that there was something wrong with Gwen now, after hearing her words he understood what it was.
Jonathan was no Peter Parker, he was not as playful as him, he had his playful moments but at this moment, upon hearing Gwen's words all he could say in response was-
"Don't worry, I'm here and I promise to never leave you alone"
He spoke softly as he pulled Gwen Closer to himself and as he did this, as if on cue, Gwen started to cry.
It was not a loud cry though, more of a weep and Jonathan just silently held her close. Sharing his warmth with her and making sure she knew and could feel that he was there.
