It was meal time soon. "Little star, It's time for dinner" Ava, Xia's mom said after knocking. "I'm coming " Xia said then opened the door. "Come here my little star. Time to eat okay"Ava said. Xia nodded and followed along as her mom took her to the dinning room. "My baby girl is down come and sit". Her dad, Mr Lan Miller beckoned, pulling a chair for her. "Thanks" she said. Her father gave her a warm smile. Her mom sat next to her and started dishing out food on her plate. Her dad soon did the same. "Here eat more" they kept on saying and adding until her plate was so filled. She raised her eyebrows up while looking at her plate. Elira noticed her and she smiled. "If you guys continue filling her plate like that what about me. I'm jealous you don't care about me again". Elira complained. "Sorry dear" their dad said. "Oh my baby, how can I forget about you. I love you both so much" their mom added. Then they started filling Elira's plate like they did with Xia's. Elira smiled to the latter and mouthed "You're welcome". While the latter's lips curled upwards a bit and she started eating her food. "It's okay. When you start to show love you don't stop". Elira complained
"We love you, of course we have to shower you with love. What does the Miller family not have . We will do anything for you" their mom. "Thanks mom. I love you both too". She said hugging her mom. As if noticing something she turned to Xia and said"And sister too".
"Of course my little star. I love her so much". Both parents said at the same time.
Elira laughed. Suddenly her phone rang. She dropped her chopsticks and said" It's third brother". "Pick the phone quickly ". Their mom urged her. "Third brother "She happily cried "Are you eating and talking. This girl what if you choke on your food" A voice said through the phone. "You can't blame me third brother. It's because I was so excited to talk to you " she replied. "Give the phone to mom and stop talking" he replied. "I'll listen to you, okay." She said then passed the phone to her mom "Mom is sister back." He asked.
"Yes she's back. Little star is with us now" their mom answered. "I was supposed to be back today sorry I couldn't make it. Give the phone to little star". Daniel their brother said. "Here, little star" their mom passed the phone. "Hi" Xia said. "Little star, sorry I'm not back something held me back but I'll see you tomorrow. If you need anything just let me know, your third brother will buy it for you" her brother said. "Okay" she answered.
"Come back tomorrow. I want no excuses and see if you can reach your elder sister and brother. Those two kids give me a lot of headache." Their father said. "Okay I'll do that. Little star enjoy your meal. I'll see you tomorrow." Dan said. "Third brother don't forget about me." Elira said. "Look at you. I've spoiled you too much. See you" Dan replied. Elira pouted then the phone call was disconnected.
"I'm done" Xia said. "You didn't eat much why don't I add more to your plate" Ava said. "I..." Xia started. "Mom please don't when you start feeding someone like that. It's sure that the person will lose shape. Sister can not eat that much." Elira cut in. Then she winked at Xia. "Okay. I won't feed her more. But little star if you feel hungry or want to eat more then just say it. One of the servants will prepare food for you or I'll do it personally." Their mom said. "I understand. Thanks. I'm leaving". Xia said as she took her plates with her to the kitchen.
She headed upstairs to her room and brought out her phone. After ten minutes she heard a knock on her door."Come in"she said. Her mom entered the room. "Do you have any problems. Just tell me, I'll see what I can do." Her mom said. "I don't. I'm good"she replied. "I'm glad you are here, home. But you have not called me mom all this while." Her mom said sitting next to her on the bed. She looked at her mom and did not say anything. "It's okay. I'm not forcing you when you feel like you can call me. But know this my little star, I missed 18 years of your life and most of your memories and I want to use this time to make it up to you and make more beautiful memories. No matter what you will always be my little star." Her mom said. Then she kissed Xia's forehead and said "Get some sleep, tomorrow we'll go shopping for the things you need for school." Then she made Xia lie down and tuck her into the bed. She turned off the bedside lamp and said "Good night little star"
"Good night..... Mom"Xia replied as she was at the door. She turned to look at her daughter and a huge smile lit her face. Then she gently closed the door and walked to her room.
