London.
December 20, 2024
It was the month of winter and snow started to fall, adding more luster to that part of the somber sky containing the beautiful wintertime constellations.
The city was illuminated by the warmth and dazzling street lamps and christmas decorations. Cheers, laughter, christmas carols, and excessive joy echoes and overwhelms the city at this time of month.
73-77 Commercial Road, Whitechapel, London, E1 1RD .
At Wilde Aparthotels, London, Aldgate Tower Bridge apartment, a woman with long curly blonde hair that reaches past the length of her shoulder and deep blue oceanic irises, was sitting on a bed, wearing a white bathrobe as her legs were crossed.
On her lap placed was a laptop, and as she stared at it intently, the screen became reflected on her eyes.
'[Game Over]' That's what was written on the screen.
Her expression constantly shifted from annoyance, disgust, and anger. Gradually, she let out a low laugh mixed with anger. Brushing her bangs, she opened her mouth and swore. "I'm not giving up one bit!"
Cracking her knuckles and neck, she restarted the game before completely indulging herself in the realm of fiction.
Time passed and before she knew it, it was already midnight by the time she had finished the game.
Seeing that she finally completed the game, her lips curled up into a satisfied smile.
Looking at the time, she silently cussed and muttered to herself, "I still have a submission tomorrow for 'Hero's Repentance' latest chapters, tsk."
My name is Aurore Hermes, i am a writer that has published 3 successful books. And the one i'm currently dealing with is my fourth one which is already at the climax part, "Hero's Repentance".
Seeing how late it was now, Aurore silently regretted her decision of continuing playing the game, knowingly that it'll take a couple of hours.
I guess I'll have no choice but wake up 3 in the morning to revise and edit the rest of the chapters...how exhausting. She complained. Although her voice seemed tired and her expression looked annoyed, she was actually delighted to be able to go this far in her life.
After graduating from college, she went to a military school as a medic and studied in neurosurgery field which specializes in treating and diagnosing conditions of the brain, spine and nervous system.
Alas an accident happened in the camp back then, causing for her to suffer severe PTSD. Although now it is said to be gone, a trauma can never be cured completely. So she switched to becoming a writer.
Just as she was sighing and was about to turn off the laptop, the sound of notification echoed in the room and a bright golden invitation letter appeared on the lower right corner of the screen.
"That's...?" Startled, her eyes widened and her lips parted slightly in stupefaction.
I've never received such extravagant of an email before...no, to be more precise- who is it from?
Aurore's brows furrowed, her eyes narrowing into doubt. Aside from her publishing company, there is no other individual she could think of that would send her an email, not at this time around at the very least.
She wondered if it could be a scam link where a virus will be placed on your technology just like those in the ads.
After some consideration, she took a deep breath before deciding to open it. The moment she pressed the letter, firework animation started playing as the letter opened.
Aurore raised an eyebrow when she saw such a fancy introduction, even letting out an involuntary scoff. However the moment she read the contents of the letter, her pupils instantly contracted.
[Good day player!
Reading this, Aurore unconsciously pursed her lips. Hidden Crimson Sky, huh...
"Hidden Crimson Sky" is to be said the most popular gaming company in the entire world, with six different kind of video games.
And one of those games, was the one i had just finished playing. Not to mention, i have played all six of those...
As a player who loved all of the games produced by that gaming company, wh wouldn't be tempted, maybe even fooled by such notification?
Although she said so, her expression turned into a frown and setting aside the laptop, she took out her phone and started searching the official email address of the "Hidden Crimson Sky" and some other details about the company.
After some researching, she finally confirmed that this was a legitimate letter from the "Hidden Crimson Sky"!
Her expression constantly changed from shock, doubt, and excitement. She couldn't help wondering what the reason may be for her to get invited, alas she failed to acquire knowledge.
Maybe because she had played their games since the email was sent through her game account.
In the end, she scrolled the rest of the letter and found the location of the gathering and the date.
"At 'Hidden Crimson Sky' gaming company, London, Abbey Mills Pumping Station, Stratford. December 22, 2024 from 1pm to 4pm."
Reading it out loud, she was overjoyed that she could not contain herself from grinning widely.
"That is the day after tomorrow, i can make it. What's more, it is here in London!"
Without wasting any time, Aurore started rescheduling her time and applied for a leave on December 22.
After some scheduling, she closed the laptop and proceeded to falling asleep.
There is even a code, HCSbeta...i guess that is for them to confirm whether i indeed got invited or not.
Slowly, her eyelids started feel heavy and before she knew it, her alarm clock rang and hours already passed.
Opening her laptop once again, she first stretched her limbs before muttering with a smile, "Alright, let's get over with this quickly so that i can book a ticket on the overground train to West Ham Station, which will approximately take 25 to 35 minutes to reach HCS gaming company. By then, i should also book a nearby inn at the very least."
After saying that, she started to revise her novel's chapters while in mind, reciting the code repeatedly.
