Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: What A Tough Guy

The three wrestlers—Beowulf, The Tough Guy, and The Heat—clashed with each other simultaneously. No alliances, a free-for-all. As they collided, Beowulf brought out his claws, The Heat covered his arms in flames, and The Tough Guy… well, with his chain destroyed, it seemed all he could do was brace for impact.

The three collided. Beowulf swung his claws, and The Heat swung his flaming arms. This resulted in all three wrestlers interlocking fingers in a three-way deadlock, slowly moving in a circle.

"Geez, Jensen! Are they fighting, or are they playing like kids?!" Daryl exclaimed.

"They may look ridiculous, Daryl, but don't be fooled. Right now, the three of them are engaged in an endurance contest. They're all experiencing a different kind of agony, and I think we both know who'll be the winner of this deadlock!" Jensen exclaimed.

"Ow. This fricking hurts!" Beowulf screamed internally. On the outside, he just bit his lip as he felt the pain from The Heat. Beowulf returned the favor. He sank his claws into The Heat's hand. The Heat bled, and Beowulf twisted and turned. He was in agony, similar to what The Heat was experiencing, as the Heat also bit his lip.

"What comes around goes around!" Beowulf exclaimed. "Speaking of which, let's check on the other guy." Beowulf turned his head to look at The Tough Guy and was frustrated by what he saw.

The Tough Guy was just panting heavily. That was it. No visible signs of pain, despite both being burned by The Heat and having Beowulf's claws sunk into his hands.

"The commentators were right. His endurance is beyond superhuman," Beowulf continued, biting his lip until little droplets of blood started running down his mouth. "Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Come on! You will not be the first to let go! You can do this!" Beowulf screamed internally. Moments passed that felt like an eternity to Beowulf as he tried his hardest to hold on. But he was slipping until...

"AHH!" Beowulf screamed as he let go of his grip on The Heat and The Tough Guy. He fell to his knees and looked at his burnt arms. Strangely, they weren't as damaged as he thought they would be.

Steam came out of his arms, but Beowulf noticed something strange about his burned hand. It seemed to be… healing. It wasn't sudden; it was gradual, but it was quick enough for Beowulf to notice, as he saw the burnt skin on his hands slowly repair.

"What is this?" Beowulf asked himself. People couldn't heal this fast. But Beowulf had to remind himself he wasn't human. The claws he had on his cast and his ability to run like an animal—it wasn't clear what he was anymore, but one thing was for sure—he wasn't human anymore, not since he started in the royal rumble match, or maybe not since he arrived in hell. After all, what human could go on for fifty years without eating?

"HEY!" The Heat and The Tough Guy both yelled at him. Beowulf raised his head to look at them. Both of them raised their legs and kicked Beowulf in the face. The impact was so powerful that it sent Beowulf flying and tumbling far away from them.

Beowulf stopped when he was close to one of the ring's ropes. His face rested on the ring's canvas. The Heat and The Tough Guy both looked at each other. The Heat smiled.

"It's your turn," The Heat said to The Tough Guy.

The Heat, still holding The Tough Guy with his burning grip, let go of The Tough Guy's hand and grabbed him around the waist and neck. The Tough Guy tried resisting, but it seemed The Heat was superior in terms of strength. The Heat lifted The Tough Guy straight up into the air, holding him upside down, his head pointed down and his feet pointed up.

Then, The Heat fell backward, slamming The Tough Guy onto the wrestling ring's canvas. As soon as The Tough Guy hit the canvas, a huge explosion of flames burst out from the area of impact, shaking the wrestling ring and sending shockwaves through the air.

The Heat got up and looked at The Tough Guy. Smoke and steam came off him, and he seemed to be out for a little while.

"Good," The Heat said. He grabbed both The Tough Guy's arm and leg, attempting to drag him closer to one of the ring's ropes, but then...

"OOOOF!" The Heat blurted as he felt something crash into him and pass, causing him to let go of The Tough Guy and fall. The Heat had a pretty good idea of what had just caused him to stumble, causing him to grunt.

He looked to the side and saw Beowulf, traveling at a great speed towards him using one of his prowler pounces. The Heat quickly got up. He spread his arms to the side and braced for Beowulf.

He crashed into him and swiped his claws, but unlike the previous times, Beowulf didn't pass The Heat and prepare for another prowler pounce. As soon as Beowulf had swiped his claws at The Heat, The Heat caught him by closing both of his arms into a hug, trapping him in a type of grip.

The momentum of Beowulf's prowler pounce skidded The Heat a few feet back. Now that Beowulf had been caught by The Heat, The Heat used this opportunity to run his flame powers throughout his entire body, burning Beowulf in the process.

Beowulf screamed, turned, and tried other methods to break free from The Heat's grasp, but with no success. "DAAAAAMMMMN IT!" Beowulf screamed internally. "It's impossible to get used to being burnt alive. Honestly, it's a miracle that I'm not ash right now—or maybe it's a curse. I am in hell after all."

The Heat continued to burn Beowulf until The Tough Guy landed on both of them using an aerial slam. This freed Beowulf from The Heat's grasp in the process. The three wrestlers lay on the wrestling ring's canvas for a while until The Tough Guy got up.

The Tough Guy did what The Heat had attempted to do to him. He grabbed The Heat's arm and leg and dragged him to one of the ring's ropes. The Heat quickly came to and saw what The Tough Guy was planning to do.

The Heat quickly jerked up into a sitting position, but The Tough Guy reacted by kicking The Heat in the face, knocking him back down in the process. The Tough Guy went further. He stomped on The Heat's face three more times.

The Heat seemed out of it. The Tough Guy used this opportunity to drag The Heat into the ropes. The Heat now rested on the ropes, and The Tough Guy tried throwing The Heat over by carrying his legs.

"You didn't think it would be that easy, did you?" The Heat asked with a huge grin. Then The Heat's body was set ablaze, far brighter than anytime he used his flame power.

The Heat was now only a humanoid of flames. No facial expression, no visible skin.

"AUUUGGGGHHHHHH!!!" The Tough Guy let out a huge scream of agony, but surprisingly, didn't let go of The Heat. The Heat gripped onto the ring's ropes and still resisted the push of The Tough Guy.

Beowulf, seeing this, was beyond stunned. He knew that if he were to switch places with The Tough Guy, he would have definitely let go of The Heat. The Tough Guy kept screaming as he was burnt by The Heat's great pain and pushed through it.

"Amazing, Jensen! Simply amazing! Right now, calling him 'The Tough Guy' would be an understatement!" Daryl exclaimed. "I'll admit, when he first appeared, I wasn't too impressed by him! But now I definitely am! I might be rooting for him to win this match!"

The Tough Guy continued pushing The Heat off the ring's ropes, and it seemed like he was winning. The Heat's hold on the ring's ropes was getting weaker and weaker until...

"AAAAAAHHHHHH!" The Tough Guy let out a roar of defiance and pushed The Heat off the ring's ropes. The Heat lost his grip on the ropes and fell into the sea of suffering.

As he did, his flames were quenched, revealing his natural self. The souls from the sea of suffering all rushed toward him. He tried fighting them off but failed. They dragged him down into the sea, and he became one of them.

The Tough Guy knelt on the ring's canvas. Half of his body was burnt, turned completely black. His clothes were burned as well. Not all of them—just the side that made contact with The Heat. He panted heavily and looked to Beowulf, who was in a state of shock, seeing the resilience of The Tough Guy.

Only two wrestlers remained. Only one of them would be the winner of the hellish royal rumble match.
