Chereads / Mated To The Predator / Chapter 10 - To Be Destroyed.

Chapter 10 - To Be Destroyed.

Chapter 10.

To be destroyed.

Lilian.

"Alpha Blackthorn requests the presence of Lilian Hawthorn." A messenger of the Alpha said in a loud voice.

Wilder's lips curved into a smirk as he set the food tray aside and stepped out of the room. "She will be on her way." His voice was smooth as he spoke, there was a humor in it that one could not miss.

"She wouldn't be going anywhere." A hard voice said from the door and I recognised it instantly.

Daemon was here.

I quickly shot out of the bed and almost headbutted him, but he was faster as he caught me and steadied me on my feet.

"Hey..." I said as I looked up nervously at him.

This was the first time I saw him in the daytime, and he was so breathtaking. His eyes were deep gray which pierced my soul as they stared at me.

"Lily." He breathed out softly as he lifted a finger to my face and stroked my chin softly.

His jaw clenched and he withdrew his hand from me almost immediately, and that stung. Daemon swiftly walked round me and went to sit where Wilder had sat.

"You cannot respond to the summons of Blackthorn." He said simply, looking me dead in the eye.

I gulped at the intensity of his gaze before I could respond. "Why not?"

"That's because I said so."

"That's because you said so? Is that a joke or what?" I gave a humourless laugh.

"Don't act like a rude little spoiled child. Listen to whatever Daemon says, he knows better." Oliver's annoying nasal voice filled the room as she slipped into the room again, walking hypnotically towards my mate.

Daemon didn't even blink as she put an arm around his neck and leaned into him.

"Really, Daemon?" Was all I could say and he raised a brow in confusion. "You're just going to let another woman rub every inch of you in front of your own mate?" I know my voice was pain filled, but I couldn't help it.

Daemon was expressionless as he palmed his day old stubble before replying. "I told you, Lilian, we cannot be mated. I'm only here to make sure you are safe, and once that happens, I'll be out of your life for good."

"Oh."

"Yes, Lilian. I can't reject you because it will kill you," His voice was deep as he spoke. "So, I'll give you time to think about it before rejecting me. Once you do so, I'll get mated to Oliver and..."

The corners of my eyes prickled with tears as I turned away from him and Oliver. I didn't want him to see me cry. Most importantly, I didn't want to see the gloating expression on Oliver's face if a tear dropped from my eye.

"Where's the bathroom, please?" I asked in a small voice, my back still turned to them.

"Down the hall and to the left." Oliver responded immediately, and I didn't stay a second longer as I padded down the hall and into the bathroom.

I was overwhelmed with so many emotions that I let the tears flow freely from my eyes. I suddenly felt so alone in my life, and as I stared at my expression in the mirror, I couldn't help but feel pity for the girl that stared back at me.

"Are you okay there? I can smell your tears, Lilian."

It was Wilder. I almost forgot he was a vampire and was able to smell anything within a mile distance.

"Go away, please?"

After a moment of silence, the door clicked open, and a figure entered. My eyes met his eyes in the mirror and a chill went down my spine. It wasn't Wilder.

"Y-you again?" I stuttered as I spun around to face him.

"Hello again, Lilian." A terrifying smile was placed on his torn and shredded face. "I guess I didn't properly introduce myself earlier."

I backed into the sink, trying to put some distance between myself and the man who towered over me by two inches.

"I will scream if you don't get out of here..." I tried to control the fear in my heart by showing some confidence.

"Relax." He scoffed. "I'm not here to hurt you. Like, I said, I just want to introduce myself to you."

"What do you want from me? I'm not going to be mated to Daemon, so there's no more reason for me to be targeted." I said, still wary of him. My chest hurt a little as I said the last part.

"Oh, I know alright." He smiled again, putting his hands in the pocket of his trousers. "I'm here to make a deal with you, and you know, somehow change your mind towards rejecting him."

My ears perked up at that and I stared at him curiously. "What do you mean?"

"I know everything that is going on with you, Lilian." He said, tilting his head to the side to gauge the expression on my face. "I know how lonely you'll feel without a purpose, so, I want to give you a purpose."

I did not reply, but let him continue.

"I know you know you're adopted..."

"I don't fully understand how..."

"But..." He cut me off. "I'll tell you the little I know about your family."

"Go ahead."

"Daemon killed your birth parents, and he is also the reason why your adoptive parents are dead." He dropped the bomb.

"What?"

I suddenly felt sick in my stomach at that revelation. It couldn't be true.

"I don't believe you. You're lying..." I said shakily. There was no way I was going to believe anything this man said to me.

"You don't have to believe me. Why don't you ask him yourself? See what he will tell you..."

I felt my knees go weak as I dropped to the floor, I suddenly felt drained of everything that had happened for the past few days.

"Do you also know why you are wolfless? Why are you the weakest in the pack?"

My head shot up at that. "I'm naturally born without a wolf. I'm an Omega."

A light scoff escaped his lips as he replied. "You've been fed wolfsbane since you were a baby to suppress your wolf genes. That's why you haven't had a wolf in you since you were little."

"Why would anyone want to do that?"

"You are the only person in a century that was born under the first full moon of the year."

I looked at him in confusion. "What does that even mean?"

"You'll find out soon enough. In the meantime, know that the reason for the pains and holes in your heart is because of Daemon. If you don't believe me, ask him yourself. Or, you can go see Alpha Blackthorn and learn the truth directly from him."

"If all this is really true," the fury that welled inside me was getting the better of me. "Why wouldn't I want to reject him? Why wouldn't I want to make him as miserable as he has made me? Taking my family from me while I worked as a slave thinking I was going to redeem them?"

"My name is Kieran Masters." He said out of the blue, "Accept him so you can tell me his weaknesses." His expression was dead as he said so. "And in return, I promise you protection from anything and anyone that wants to harm you."

"Anyone that wants to harm me?"

"If you accept Daemon as your mate, you will become the core target of Daemon's enemies. And even if Daemon will try to protect you, I'll make sure they don't even get anywhere close to you."

"Why do you want to know his weaknesses?"

"I want the same thing everyone wants. I want him dead." His voice was cold as he said so, and I could feel the desperation in his voice as he said so.

"Daemon has destroyed a lot. It's time for him to be destroyed, so, what do you say?"
