Back in Nairobi, Zarah and Ayodele strategized their next move. The evidence from the Amazon was explosive, but releasing it would put them in even greater danger.
"We need protection," Zarah said. "Interpol isn't enough. We need someone who can fight on their level."
Reluctantly, they reached out to an old rival: Tunde Ajayi, a former lobbyist for the corporations who had turned whistleblower.
Tunde's insider knowledge was crucial, but his motives were murky. "I'm helping you because they betrayed me," he said. "But don't think for a second I've gone soft."
Zarah didn't trust him, but Ayodele saw potential. "We don't have to like him," he said. "We just need him to help us bring them down."
