Dakota's POV
Following that night, the next morning my father took me to the Park residence, where Uncle Xavier and Wyatt were awaiting our arrival in their reception area. I must acknowledge that the Parks are among the wealthiest families in the city, second only to ours. While we own several hospital chains and an airline, their primary focus lies in the hotel and entertainment sectors.
"Xavier!" father said, "It has been quite some time since we last saw each other, Silas Choi. If you had not brought your child to the mansion, our paths may not have crossed today." Uncle Xavier said after he did a brother hug with my father. "We are currently preoccupied with our individual enterprises, in contrast to the time when we were students and spent each day in each other's company.
"Do you still recall my youngest child, Wyatt?" uncle said while guiding us towards their garden to have tea.
"Of course i still remember I was just surprised at how much the youngest has changed; perhaps the last time I saw him, he was still a child."
while the two oldies walked ahead of us, I did not realize that I had been gazing at Wyatt for an extended period until he cleared his throat and addressed me. "Ahem!, done checking me out?" Wyatt cast a smirk in my direction before turning on his heel and walking away to join our fathers. This boy truly is an asshole.
After an hour or two, my father said his farewells, as he needed to return to the company. Subsequently, Uncle Xavier escorted me to my room, accompanied by a maid who was carrying my belongings. As we made our way to my room, which is adjacent to Wyatt's, we encountered Ethan, Uncle's second child. Uncle Xavier has three children from his late wife: Wyatt, the youngest; Ethan, the middle child; and Ellior, the eldest. However, I have rarely seen Ellior at family events or gatherings, likely due to the fact that we live in different countries since Auntie's passing. I can hardly recall his features, as the last time I saw him was at their mother's funeral, and we were merely children at that time.
We arrived at my room, and my uncle said his farewells after explaining the necessity of a babysitter, or rather a personal assistant, for Wyatt. It is well-known that Wyatt is one of the leading models in their company; however, he possesses a volatile temperament, causing all previous assistants to resign within a week, or in some cases, as little as three days. Wyatt has a penchant for playing pranks on his former personal assistants, prompting my uncle to discuss with my father the possibility of me taking on the role of his personal assistant and babysitter. Given my own history of causing trouble for my father, it was decided that I should take on the responsibility of looking after Wyatt. My father believed that our similar personalities would foster a better understanding between us, enabling me to grasp the motivations behind his actions.
Later that evening, I am dining with the Parks when another individual takes a seat next to Ethan. A look of confusion crosses my face, prompting Wyatt to lean in and whisper that the newcomer is Ethan's son, Gideon, who is five years old. Wyatt explains that Ethan's ex-girlfriend left the child in his care immediately after his birth.
The next morning i woke up on the sounds of my alarm, I was on the verge of falling asleep when I recalled that today marks the beginning of my role as Wyatt's personal assistant and the maid told me that Wyatt already left the house since he had an early photoshoot for a certain magazine. That asshole, I don't have a choice but to hurry and get to Wyatt's photoshoot location immediately. When I got there, the director immediately yelled at me because the assistant of that asshole was late. I had no choice but to apologize. If it weren't for this person's father asking for a favor, I would have confronted this director by now.
Fast forward ————————
As time progresses, I gradually begin to comprehend the reasons behind his abrupt change in behavior. Initially, it was challenging to interpret Wyatt's actions, as he exhibited a considerable degree of detachment from those around him, even going so far as to avoid interaction with his own sibling. The sole exception to this pattern appeared to be his nephew.
I've been staying with the Parks for a while now, working as a babysitter and personal assistant for Wyatt. It's been great because we've gotten really close again, just like when we were kids. Right now, we're having afternoon tea by the pool with Ethan while Gideon splashes around. This is pretty much our routine on days when he doesn't have anything planned; he loves playing with his nephew. While Ethan is busy with his kid, I turned to Wyatt to ask why he's been acting so distant, especially towards his dad.
He's been dodging my question for a while now, so I really need to earn his trust to find out what actually went down. While he was explaining, we suddenly heard a noise from the living room, and then a guy appeared out of nowhere, sending chills down my spine the moment I saw his face. All those painful memories I thought I had buried came rushing back, and I was so stunned I couldn't even speak. I just stood there, staring at the man, completely oblivious to Ethan and Wyatt calling my name over and over. That's when I noticed the tears streaming down my face and the fear written all over me. Ethan wrapped his arms around me when he saw me shaking, still fixated on the stranger in front of us.
Wyatt walked me to my room after everything that went down. I was relieved he didn't pry because I'm just not ready to dive into it yet. For the last five years, I've been trying to push those memories away. I even saw a therapist to help me deal with my trauma. I tried all sorts of things, like hitting up clubs with friends to distract myself, but the second I saw his face, it was like everything came rushing back. All the progress I made just disappeared in a heartbeat.
