Chapter 2: The Aftermath
Jane slowly got up from the ground, her body aching from the forceful push she had received from the men. She brushed herself off and walked home so weak. As she walked into her dark, small and well ventilated room, she looked into the mirror and cried then began to clean the bruise on her cheek. She was still trying to process what had just happened.
As she was cleaning her bruise, her phone rang. It was her best friend, Lydia.
"Hey, girl! How's it going?" Lydia asked, her voice cheerful as always.
Jane sighed, still trying to process her emotions. "It's been a crazy day," she said. "I just got attacked by a group of men in an alleyway."
Lydia's tone immediately changed from cheerful to concerned. "Oh my god, Jane! Are you okay?"
Jane nodded, even though Jane couldn't see her. "Yeah, I'm fine. A stranger showed up and fought off my attackers."
Lydia's voice was filled with excitement. "That's so cool! Who was the stranger?"
Jane shrugged. "I have no idea. He just showed up out of nowhere and then disappeared just as quickly."
Lydia's voice was thoughtful. "That's weird. But I'm just glad you're okay."
Jane smiled, feeling grateful for her friend's concern. "Thanks, Lydia. I'm just glad to be alive."
The two friends chatted for a while longer, catching up on each other's lives.Jane told Lydia about her strange encounter with the old woman, and Lydia told Jane about her new job.
As they talked, Jane couldn't shake off the feeling that something strange was going on. She had always known she was different, but she had never imagined that she would be attacked by a group of men in an alleyway.
And who was the stranger who had saved her? Jane couldn't help but wonder if their encounter had been more than just a coincidence.
As Jane and Lydia said their goodbyes, Jane couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She knew that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't even imagine.
Just as Jane was lost in thought, a call came in from LYDIA.
You called again, said Jane. I called to remind you of the party going on in the city in three days I will be expecting you said by Lydia and she hung the call.
