Chapter 1 - Meeting Mr. Handsome

I swear on my life it was an accident!

Sure, I was running away that night, but I didn't mean to come here. And I most certainly didn't mean to use a flawed invisibility spell!

It's not my fault! If that book wasn't so old I wouldn't have used the wrong rune when making the portal!

As for the invisibility spell? I do take some blame for that one. I was overconfident and remembered the wrong incantation.

Now I'm stuck in an unfamiliar world, with hardly any mana and no one can see or touch me.

Without enough mana I can't reverse the spells. I was already low when I ran and now I'm running on empty. It's not the most pleasant experience. Nausea, migraines, weakness of the body.

0/10

Would NOT recommend.

Although it will take time I'll eventually absorb enough of the surrounding mama to return. Not that I want to ever go back to that dark and lonely place.

Think positive Blade! You can peek at handsome men!

Thinking this I dash through the streeta, looking at every person I pass.

Can handsome men really be that hard to find?

...

5 months later.

The answer is yes.

The heavens are against me!

No matter how far I run I can't seem to find any- WHO IS THAT!!?

He-he... How is he so handsome?!

My eyes lock onto my target and just as I get ready to run over he climbs into one of those weird horseless carriages.

By now I'm desperate. I had been close to lowering my standards until this god of a man appeared.

Truely a masterpiece worthy of my attention.

Knowing the strange vehicles are fast I channel the little bit of mana I have and cast a levitation spell on my body. From there I force my body to speed up and appear right above the vehicle.

Just in time for the driver to move the horseless carriage.

Using my remaining mama I allow my hands to solidify. Although still invisible I'm able to grab hold to things. Using this I cling to the roof of the vehicle as it moves towards it's destination.

It doesn't take long for the driver to stop the vehicle and I almost immediately float along next to the handsome man who's looking down at the communication device in his hand.

It only took me 6 weeks to learn that the people here aren't weird. I originally thought they just had a strange quirk and liked to stare at small glowing bricks for fun, but it turns out the bricks have a purpose.

Maybe feeling my gaze he looks up and our eyes meet. My heart skips a beat and I subconsciously cancel my levitation spell. As I was floating just moments before I fall directly on my ass.

"Ow! With eyes as dazzling as yours it should be a crime to look at them!" I say glaring at the man who is directly looking at me with both anger and slight amusement.

"What are you looking at! If I didn't know any better I would think you could see me." I pout as I stand up and move my face close to his.

"I would have to be blind not to see you." He says calmly as he takes a small step back.

"Wonder who he's talking too. I don't see anyone else around." I say with a frown as I scan the underground 'parking garage' as the people here call it. Then my eyes land on the driver who's approuching. I lazily walk towards him and move to stare closely at his face.

"Why the serious face?" I ask poking my finger through his head as I hover around him. The driver doesn't react no matter how much I poke at him. Obviously this is because I can't touch anything and I didn't use any mana in my hands.

"You're much better looking than your servant. Whats even the point of having servants if they don't look good? I wouldn't be caught dead walking with someone so avarage." I mutter as I move back to the handsome man's side.

By now I'm a little bit creeped out. He keeps staring at me. It's as if he can actually see me. I even saw him hide a laugh a moment ago.

"Young Master?" The driver asks when he sees the handsome man staring at what probably looks like empty space to them.

"What do you see right there?" The handsome man asks the driver calmly.

"Young Master are you ill? You must be overworked. If the Old Madam finds out you'll be called to.tbe old residence." The driver says with a frown as he places a hand to the handsome man's head.

This conversation baffles me as the handsome man points directly at me.

"It's nothing. No need to call Grandma." The handsome man replys. Now he's turned his head as though he's trying to ignore me.

"Wait, wait, wait! Can you really see me? For real? I really have good taste!" I exclaim as I rush around him in circles.

"You can go home John. I would like to be alone." The handsome guy says and the driver immediately bows.

"Yes, Young Master!" He says before turning to leave. He practically runs away as though he's being chased by bandits.

"Who are you?" The handsome man says tuning to look directly at me.

"Me?" I ask incredulously. Having him really acknowledge my existence is different from just knowing he can see me.

"Who else would I be asking?" He asks watching me with suspicion.

"Blade Calypso. First princess of the Calypso Empire and Master of the magic tower!" I say proudly.

"Don't lie to me girl!" He says as he attempts to pin me to the wall. Ultimately failing as his hand passes directly through my body. Nevertheless this action still scares me.

"Fine! It's true that I'm the first princess but I'm just the daughter of a crippled mage! I was banished to the abandoned magic tower with my mother by order of the Empress when I was a baby! The only magic I know is what was written in the books left behind by the last tower master. I have no army and my mana pool is empty! I'm worthless as a hostage!" I ramble. Eyes firmly shut out of fear.

Then I remember.

He can't actually do anything to me...

I open my eyes slowly and am met with the astonished gaze of the handsome man who repeatedly puts his hand through my arm as if he can't quite believe what he's seeing.

"Anyone who saw this would think you had never seen magic before." I say taking a step back and hiding my hands behind my back while he watches me.

"I always thought magic wasn't real." He mutters.

"Nonsense! What about that magic communication brick? Or the horseless carriages? Not to mention the lights that have no fire!" I blink in shock while I point to each thing as I say it.

"You mean a phone, a car, and lightbulbs?" He asks with a raised eyebrow.

"Is that what you call them?" I ask curiously.

"Those things aren't magic. It's just science." He says in amusement.

"You mean they were made by those confusing people who call themselves researchers? The people who claim there are weird people on the orbs in the sky? I don't remember what they called them. Ali-something?" I say, scrunching up my nose in confusion.

"Aliens?" He asks.

"Yeah! How did you know?!" I ask in surprise. Most people ignore 'researchers' in my world. I only know because they tried to take over the tower after my mom died. That was before they knew about me though. Once they realized I too was being held there by the crown, they left me alone. Not before trying to teach me 'science' because they knew I couldn't leave.

"We still haven't found any as far as I know, but certain groups of people are convinced they exist" he says casually. He seems to be getting used to the fact that I'm in a ghost-like state.
