Chapter 4 - The first investment

The winds outside were changing. Aniket's family's goals began to change with the shift in those winds. Yesterday evening had been the strategic meeting to begin something great—a revolution that would move through technology and energy. It was still quite early, but the sun already had its golden glow, flooding the family estate; however, Aniket was sitting in his silent office with all the plans and projections right in front of him. His mind had already begun to whir through what was in store: the first actual investment by the family in the renewable energy market.

The groundwork had been laid, so had the parameters for this project: innovative energy system combining solar and wind with advanced materials to make something the world had never seen before. Now was the time to act-to move.

Aniket's fingers hovered over the glowing interface of his desk. The family's currency system was already paying out dividends. Money was rolling into their account at such a rate it was difficult to keep count, not that it showed any sign of slowing up. An advantage he possessed, no one else had: that 100-to-one multiplier on both quantity and quality anything they bought or cultivated.

With this thought, the rest of the family was waiting in the conference room reminding him that every decision taken was a family decision, because since the inception of the business venture, it had been a family project, and while moving ahead, they had to do so as a family.

There's Karan, measured. "This is it. This is really our first realistic step. Are we entirely convinced that the technology we chose is the right one? The energy market is battlefield warfare, and once we engage with this, there is no retreat.".

Aniket nodded slowly, his gaze fixed on the projections on his screen. "The technology is sound. We've built it to be scalable, adaptable to future needs. It will evolve with the world's energy demands, and as the family's store evolves every year, we'll have access to even better materials and methods as time goes on."

Priya hadn't spoken much but did so when she had something important to convey: "What is the time to deploy? Let us not rush into it too hastily. This cannot go wrong if we are finally getting our first resources on this," she said.

His fingers thumped on the top of his desk, and suddenly a timeline came on his screen. "We shall give ourselves two years for research and development. Then we'll start small-scale production. But nothing will be cutting-edge without trying out all their parts, materials, and processes. We will not push forward if we haven't used them. Quality control is very important. We'll ensure that every step we take is careful and thoughtful.".

Raghav, Aniket's father, placed his hands together and leaned forward. "And what about entry into the market? We can't just develop something and hope it catches on. The industry will already have its players, and they won't welcome competition."

Aniket's eyes brightened with certainty. "We won't compete in the traditional sense. We're not just entering a market; we're shaping it. We'll demonstrate the unmatched efficiency of our technology and build partnerships with key players. By the time we're ready to fully launch, we'll already have a seat at the table."

"Strategic partnerships, then," Karan said, a smirk playing on his lips. "I like it."

Aniket scans his family with a sombre face. "It is quality, innovation, and patience. We have time. We don't need to rush."

It was a choice made. Aniket had sent out a signal: the first set of money is transferred from the central family account, currency flowing out from their collective wealth into this designated project. The digital transaction is done in the blink of an eye-millions of units now dedicated to the venture that would be the very backbone of their family's rise.

It was when his family started debating finer details about their approach that Aniket's thoughts went adrift for a while. That was just the first step towards what was in store for him; much smaller in proportion of that which was about to evolve. The world would go through a process, initially creeping then leaping across. It was the very beginning of their adventure through the Mortal Realm, and Aniket was well aware that this was going to be a night to remember—the moment by which they had started onto their path.

He glanced back at the display, which quickly filled with an ever-lengthening list of potential suppliers and partners. The family was going to be a force to be reckoned with.

And in the evening of the same day, over dinner, the talks grew even broader. For the first time, Aniket had invested, but tomorrow's had no boundaries, and already Aniket was thinking of the third one. He was yet to be shackled by the Mortal Realm, and he could not hold his head from drifting toward what there was beyond.

She says, speaking up to break the silence. "We have the first leg of technology here and still can't forget real estate. But if we wanted self-sustainable cities, should have at least had a space of doing it right."

Aniket smiled. "We'll continue with our real estate acquisitions. As the market shifts, we'll be in a prime position to capitalize on the need for sustainable, eco-friendly developments. The cities we're envisioning won't just be for today—they'll be the blueprint for the future."

Karan leaned back in his chair. "And that's where the real power is. The real estate is going to be propelled by energy tech, and energy tech thrives best in real estate."

Adding with deep introspection, Meera spoke up, "It's all connected. Remember every tract of land and each deal signed goes into the overall framework. We cannot do a snap decision, not even for real estate." She concluded thusly.

Aniket nodded along. "All shall be deliberate. Each one is strategic.".

And that was the first chapter of the family in the business world, but by no way the last to its story. The next challenges were going to be tested in their resilience, patience, and wisdom. But as long as they ventured into the world of technology and energy, something was certain-they were there for one another, and would change the world.

As the night wore deep, Aniket stood at the balcony of the family estate, watching the stars coming out in the sky. The world was so big and full of unknown opportunities and dangers. Yet, at that moment, Aniket felt quiet certainty. They had made the right choice.

And soon, the world would know their name.
