Chapter 1 - The Multiverse Game Begins

"Beep... beep... beep..."

In the luxury penthouse, Jack Miller lay motionless on the bed, an oxygen mask covering his face.

The life support machine beside him emitted intermittent sounds, with the line representing Jack's life force showing barely any movement.

"Jack, don't come haunting me after you're gone. This is all for your own good. You might as well be dead anyway."

By the bed, a stunning woman in her late twenties whispered softly as she reached toward the life support machine.

Obviously, she was preparing to pull the plug.

Sensing death approaching, Jack's inner thoughts raced with anxiety.

A sudden car accident had left him in this state.

Despite his billion-dollar fortune, he'd become a vegetative patient.

Although he could hear everything around him, his body couldn't respond at all.

Driven by an intense survival instinct, Jack's finger twitched slightly.

However, no one noticed this movement.

Sarah Hayes's attention was drawn to the suddenly opening door.

A young man entered, frowning as he spoke, "Sarah, what are you hesitating for at this point?"

'That voice, it's Ryan Thompson?'

'What's he doing here?'

'And what does he mean by that?'

Hearing Ryan's voice, Jack's heart sank.

The subsequent conversation between the two made his blood boil.

"This guy's got no family left. Once he's dead, you'll be the only legal heir to his fortune."

As he spoke, Ryan's eyes flashed with greed as he wrapped his arm around Sarah's waist, smiling:

"I've been waiting five whole years for this day!"

"Five years! Do you know what these five years have been like for me?"

Ryan spoke while running his hands over Sarah.

She rolled her eyes and quipped, "Didn't you seem pretty excited watching those videos of Jack and me?"

On the surface, Sarah had been Jack's girlfriend since college.

But in reality, Ryan was Sarah's original boyfriend.

Everything they'd done was to scheme for Jack's massive inheritance!

For this, Ryan had even arranged conditions, personally delivering Sarah to Jack's bed.

Until their marriage, they'd finally reached harvest time.

Hence, the car accident.

"Just a little hobby, and you enjoyed it too, didn't you?" Ryan lifted Sarah's delicate chin, narrowing his eyes, "What? Don't tell me you actually fell for this guy and can't go through with it?"

"Hmph, it's because you messed up," Sarah pouted as she pushed Ryan away, frowning, "If you'd just killed him in the crash, we wouldn't need all this trouble."

"Who knew he'd be so tough, surviving such a severe accident."

Ryan shrugged, his gaze sweeping over Jack on the bed, a cold glint in his eyes.

"But today, not even God himself could save his life."

With those words, Ryan reached out and removed Jack's oxygen mask.

Sarah made no move to stop him, just crossing her arms and quietly watching.

"Mission accomplished. From today on, everything he has is ours."

Thinking of their upcoming luxurious life, Ryan excitedly picked up Sarah and kissed her.

"What's the rush? Let's go to another room. Isn't it creepy doing this with a dying man?"

"Can't help it when you're so irresistible, babe."

Their voices grew distant as Jack's inner rage reached its peak.

Only now did he realize these two had been plotting since the very first day they met him!

But current Jack could do nothing about it.

Without oxygen, his already weak breathing became increasingly difficult as suffocation overtook him.

Within seconds, Jack's consciousness began to blur.

Just then, a majestic portal suddenly appeared in Earth's atmosphere.

Most amazingly, it was visible from anywhere on the planet, regardless of hemisphere!

Even Jack, in his final moments, could see this portal in his mind!

Countries immediately sounded their air raid sirens, instantly going on high alert.

Then, a mysterious voice from the portal resonated simultaneously in everyone's minds.

[Congratulations, Earth has been selected to participate in the Multiverse Game. Universal transfer will begin in thirty seconds.]

[Friendly reminder: Game-related information has been uploaded to everyone's minds, please access it at will.]

This supernatural demonstration sent the entire Earth into a frenzy.

"There's really Multiverse Game info in my head, this is insane!"

"Everyone's going in? Everyone starts from zero in this game world?"

"So nervous, wonder what this Multiverse Game is all about."

"The rich and powerful should be the nervous ones!"

"Haha, right! In the Multiverse Game, everyone's equal."

"Finally, us gamers get our chance to shine!"

"Hope I awaken some powerful talent."

"Don't need SSS-rank, but at least S-rank would be nice."

"According to the Multiverse info, S-rank talent has a one-in-ten-million chance of awakening, don't dream too big."

In the penthouse, the two who were about to get intimate froze.

"I don't even play games, what am I going to do?"

Sarah frowned, her face darkening.

Ryan burst into angry curses.

"Son of a bitch! I planned for five whole years, was about to become a billionaire, and now you're telling me we're starting from scratch?"

Universal transfer into the game world was a thunderbolt from the blue for the two who were about to acquire Jack's entire fortune.

The Multiverse Game had no pay-to-win options; everyone had to start from zero.

Based on the information suddenly appearing in their minds, they knew they had no advantages whatsoever.

"As long as there's breath left, you can enter the Multiverse Game?"

Recalling the information in her mind, Sarah suddenly looked up:

"Jack won't be able to get in too, right?"

Her face flashed with panic at this thought.

Seeing this, Ryan sneered, "In his condition? Even if he gets in, he'll be useless."

After transfer, the Multiverse Game would scan each player's physical data, generating initial attributes with a maximum of 10 points.

Given Jack's current state, his attributes were predictable.

Therefore, Ryan didn't consider him a threat at all.

His only hope now was awakening a powerful talent himself!

In his hazy state, Jack felt information appearing in his mind.

"Multiverse Game? Transfer?!"

The suffocation grew increasingly intense, but Jack now felt like he'd grabbed onto a final lifeline, suddenly filled with hope.

Like a final burst of energy before death, he held onto his last breath, determined to enter the Multiverse Game.

Those thirty seconds felt like an eternity to Jack.

What sustained him was the endless rage in his heart, and his intense hatred for Sarah and Ryan!

Everything that had happened in the past kept replaying in these thirty seconds, like a life flashing before his eyes.

Just as Jack's life hung by a thread, the majestic portal in the sky finally responded.

Whoosh~

Brilliant golden light erupted, billions of light pillars instantly descended from the heavens, precisely enveloping every person on Earth.

The next moment, the light pillars dissipated, and all of Earth's humans vanished without a trace.
