Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Arrival of the Apocalypse!

Zhang Yang nodded deeply, a trace of regret and self-reproach crossing his face as he said,

"Uncle, you're right. I, a mere youngster, am truly unfit to manage the company's affairs."

"How about this: I'll sell you 37% of my shares for a fixed price of 200 million, but I need the cash as quickly as possible!"

"Really, my dear nephew?!"

In an instant,

Wang Dali's attitude shifted dramatically.

One moment, he had been yelling at Zhang Yang, and the next, not only had he called him 'nephew,' but he was also forcing a smile through his thick, rough features.

"Really, when have I ever lied to you, Uncle?"

Zhang Yang nodded, his expression seeming sincere.

Seeing this, Wang Dali's heart swelled with joy.

His original intention was to chastise Zhang Yang for his extravagant spending, and then use it as a reason to initiate an impeachment with the board. By manipulating the situation, he planned to pressure Zhang Yang into selling him his shares at a ridiculously low price, making a fortune for himself.

But to his surprise,

The usually stubborn youth had voluntarily offered to sell his shares, and at such a bargain price of only 200 million!

It was as if the sun had risen in the west.

Zhang Yang's shares, if negotiated properly, could easily be worth over 300 million!

Opportunity knocks but once.

Wang Dali immediately signaled his lawyer, who swiftly retrieved a stack of pre-prepared contracts from his briefcase. After filling in a few details, the contract was handed over to Zhang Yang.

Wang Dali, eager to secure the deal, gently urged,

"Quickly, nephew, sign it so I can transfer the money to you right away."

Glancing at Wang Dali's greedy, money-obsessed face,

Zhang Yang felt a wave of nausea.

With barely a second thought, he signed his name at the bottom of the contract with a flourish.

The deal was done, and Wang Dali, grinning from ear to ear, began skimming through the contract while happily heading to his car.

As he left, he waved his hand and said triumphantly,

"Tomorrow morning, I'll have the money transferred to your account, ha ha!"

Zhang Yang's face remained impassive,

But internally, he smirked,

"Uncle, you'd better enjoy yourself while you can, because in just a few days, you might not even be able to cry!"

And so,

Another large sum of money was deposited.

With the string of zeros appearing in his bank account once more, Zhang Yang continued his buying spree without a hint of hesitation or remorse!

First and foremost,

The priority remained the stockpiling of flesh.

Zhang Yang purchased several more tons, storing them once again in the industrial park's cold storage. Then, as before, he quietly transferred it all into his panel's storage space, where it would be preserved indefinitely.

OCD-ridden as always, Zhang Yang meticulously organized the different types of meat from various suppliers, stacking them neatly within his storage space.

At a glance, everything was orderly, a sight both pleasing and soothing.

With his arms wide open,

Zhang Yang couldn't help but exclaim,

"Behold, this is my empire!"

As for security,

Zhang Yang took extra precautions with his private villa.

Externally, he reinforced the doors and windows with steel bars and powered them with high-voltage electricity, ensuring that neither zombies nor survivors could breach the premises.

Internally, he set up a self-sustaining power and water system, complete with diesel generators, batteries, transformers, and water purifiers, ensuring a steady supply of electricity and water even after the apocalypse.

Additionally, knowing that he would retain his intelligence after becoming a zombie,

Zhang Yang prepared hundreds of terabytes of films, games, and the latest computers and consoles, ensuring he would never be bored for a long time to come.

Finally,

In terms of self-defense,

Zhang Yang knew that in the early days of the apocalypse, zombies would not yet possess immense power, and could potentially be wounded by cold weapons.

So, he acquired various swords, knives, bows, and crossbows through special channels to ensure his safety while he was still weak.

The image of a zombie wielding a blade seemed somewhat absurd.

Time passed swiftly.

In the blink of an eye, seven days had quietly gone by.

After dismissing the last few workers and cautioning them to be careful while sleeping that night, Zhang Yang returned to his villa.

Sitting on the sofa in the living room, he watched Train to Busan while keeping an eye on the dwindling countdown.

[2.5 hours until the apocalypse]

Gradually,

His thoughts drifted back to his childhood.

Ever since he was young, he had always felt a strange, uncontrollable desire for blood—a condition that seemed almost like a psychological disorder, a form of hemophilia.

However, his parents, both top-tier biologists, seemed unsurprised by this.

Not only did they accept it calmly,

But they also brought him into their laboratory and injected him with a green serum that resembled jade.

After the injection, they looked at him with love and pride, saying,

"Child, this is the final and most precious gift we can leave you."

Just a few days later, the laboratory exploded due to improper handling, and both of his parents tragically perished in the accident.

Then,

He was adopted by a kind-hearted wealthy man, who raised him until the present day.

"Why am I remembering all of this? It's been so many years since Mom and Dad passed… Is it some sort of flashback?"

Zhang Yang sighed deeply, glancing at the countdown once more.

There were only thirty seconds remaining.

Everything was in place.

Zhang Yang stood and walked to the window, gazing up at the bright moon and the sparkling stars, then looking out over the city's dazzling neon lights.

He stood there, anxiously awaiting the moment.

3!

2!

1!

The countdown hit zero.

The old wall clock struck midnight with a sharp "dong!"

At that very instant,

The mutation arrived, just as foretold!

In the clear night sky,

A second moon suddenly appeared, a blood-red moon taking form!

Zhang Yang's pupils constricted.

He watched in disbelief as the blood-red moon slowly obscured the original moon, until only the true, crimson blood moon remained.

And at the moment the blood moon fully materialized,

A powerful tidal wave of energy surged across the sky, sweeping over the entire city, even the whole planet!

The blood moon hung high! The energy tide surged!

In the quiet of the night,

Only a few people noticed this strange celestial phenomenon.

They gazed in astonishment and confusion:

"Is that… a blood moon?"

"Could it be an astronomical event that only happens once in a thousand years?"

Some even nudged their sleeping partners, eager to share the strange spectacle:

"Honey, wake up! The moon suddenly turned red, what's going on?"

A newlywed woman, still in her pajamas, tried to wake her husband, but no matter what she did, he didn't respond.

Suddenly,

The man, who had been lying next to her motionless,

Abruptly opened his eyes, glowing with the same red hue, his face contorted with rage, his fangs bared. He pounced on her, sinking his teeth into her delicate, beautiful face, tearing at it hungrily.

The new bride screamed and struggled, but eventually, her voice faded, and she became a lifeless corpse,

Left to the zombie-husband to feast upon.

Scenes like this,

Were unfolding in every home, on every street...
