Kaly was walking through the garden, she was looking at the soil, it had several holes in it that were made when Nyme harvested the plants.
"What are we going to do with these roots?"
"We're going to make healing potions, high healing potions actually. They're very potent and expensive, basically, you can make an arm grow without knowing how to do magic or having the mana for it."
"Are we going to make more money?"
"More or less, the focus isn't on money." She paused as she looked at the ground. "Then I'll explain everything we're going to do. But now use all your mana."
While Darius was training, Kaly went into the kitchen and used a worktop and put a heat plate on it, the plate would serve to heat the cauldron, she took out a wooden plate and started cutting the roots, then she used magic and made the water in the roots evaporate, then she put it in a stone container and used a pestle to grind the roots.
When they were quite macerated she put them in the cauldron, used water magic and filled the pestle, after a few minutes of boiling she used mana and the heat plate was turned off, in the cauldron was the potion, but it was raw, it would be necessary to imbibe mana. When this was done, the potion was complete.
Potions have levels, each of which varies according to the skill of the person who created them. It's not enough just to use mana, you have to know the right amount of mana to use, if you use too much the potion can lose its effects, if you use too little mana the potion can have no effect at all. That's why few people make potions, usually people with the alchemist class.
Darius entered the mansion, he was very tired, Kaly and he went to the bath. Kaly carefully scrubbed his body, while he stood there doing nothing. One moment he turned over and lay on her breasts, she held the left breast and rubbed it on Darius' face. He put it in his mouth, he was asleep and sucking, but Kaly didn't mind.
Orphelia went into the bathroom and Darius woke up.
"You suckle her and you don't want to suckle your mother anymore?"
"That's not what you think, I was asleep."
"Come here, I'll let you apologize," she said as she removed her clothes and caressed her nipples, they were hard and Orphelia approached and forced Darius to suckle, as he did so a little milk came out.
"Milk is coming out."
"Yes, that's what a mother's love tastes like."
At dinner, Lucian found Darius' behavior strange. But he didn't say anything.
"What I wanted to say," Kaly stood up. She approached Lucian and took out a vial of potion from her bag of items.
"A potion?"
"Not just any potion, it's made with sage root."
"How much did it cost?"
"1 copper coin."
"How did you get it for so cheap?"
"I made the potion, but I spent a copper coin on the bottle, in fact, two came out to 1 coin."
"This root is very rare, how did you get it?"
"That's a secret, but Darius and I managed to produce a large quantity. Very large indeed, we actually needed Nyme's help, she's from the village."
"You want to produce expensive potions and get very rich?" Amanda asked, she didn't like the idea and thought Kaly wanted to take advantage.
"My concern is for Darius, if the land becomes infertile and there are more problems with the crops, then the title of Viscount could be lost. I want to get the villagers to sell this potion, at a price that anyone could buy, apart from the value of what we spent to produce it, it's possible that they could sell it for a maximum of 5 copper coins."
"Wouldn't that be bad?"
"Economically yes, there are potion sellers who would get angry and might create some form of boycott, so they would sell to the Adventurers' Guild, an exclusive contract."
Julian was silent as he thought, he became serious.
"If we can mass produce, then it means that the price would necessarily drop, so there's no problem with that. The Adventurers' Guild is independent and has a license to trade." He paused again. "Don't worry, I just want me to be able to have potions too."
"Don't worry about it, I'll be able to make plenty for the soldiers," Kaly knew why.
"All right, you have my permission to market this and say you're from House Lestor."
"Thank you, I'll do my best."
"Tomorrow it will be decided who goes through to the semi-final, I don't think anyone will want to duel you. That was very good for your image, but at the same time it could be bad, maybe they'll make you never take part again. You're very strong and that would be complicated."
"Yes, I preferred to show all my strength right away, that's good. But I don't intend to compete again, so it won't be a problem."
"I see," he paused. "You remind me a bit of my father, he always liked to show off his strength, he made today's mages look like children. He was very strong and never accepted to work as a court mage, until one day the King couldn't take the refusals anymore and made him a nobleman, gave him this mansion and the lands we manage. Until one day he died and no other mage was born into the family."
"He must have been strong."
"He was, he had 80,000 mana points, that was official, but we all believed he had much more."
Kaly stayed talking to Lucian about his father, the conversation going on and on until it ended.
In the bedroom, Kaly had the bag of coins.
"I discovered something, this bag doesn't just create coins, it can create small objects, nothing of plant or animal origin, I couldn't generate insects or food. But there's a problem, each coin or object spends mana, so it can be bad to use too much. But I want you to use and create potions, it will be a way to spend your mana faster. Besides, I have something to do, come here."
Darius approached and she held his head, sending more information into his mind.
"Little by little I'll pass on everything I know, but little by little, because too much information would blow your mind."
The next day Kaly's opponent gave up and so did the others, she was considered the winner of the magic tournament, the King didn't like it, but he gave her the money and didn't ask her to become a court mage, that was the second prize.
The narrator was discouraged, she said that the fencing competitors had given up and she was the winner too. The audience was leaving before she received the second prize, everyone was feeling bored, the tournaments were supposed to be difficult and push the competitors to the limit, watching their efforts was the fun.
She received the money and went to the Guild to ask for a meeting with the boss. Kaly was greeted and in the room she took out 30 vials of potions, she left them on the table and Elara looked on.
"Potions, what's different about them?"
"They're sage root potions, you know what they are don't you?"
"Yes, they're the best potions, apart from being very expensive."
"I want to make a deal with you. I'm with Darius Lestor, Viscount Lestor's son, we're starting to make potions, we want a business deal. We'll supply the Guild with potions for just 6 copper coins, you can sell them for less than 1 silver coin."
"6 copper coins for a potion like that? I can't believe it's what you say it is."
"I know, that's why I'll leave 30 potions here, give them to the adventurers and ask them to test them and report back, you can do your test too."
"What would you get for selling for so little?"
"You'd buy from the peasants, they'd be able to improve their income and with that House Lestor would be richer, even for such a low price, we've managed to produce on a large scale. In addition, more adventurers would survive, so the Guild would get a bit more money coming in and more adventurers for it to make more money. It's simple."
Elara held up a vial and watched. As she watched, the color of her eyes changed, they turned violet and then green, finally returning to their natural red.
"You speak the truth, this is a genuine potion."
"How do you know?"
"I have an ocular ability that allows me to analyze and check statuses. And yes, I know you're a dragon and that it has a lot of mana." She remained silent, before Kaly could say anything she said: "Don't worry about it, I know how to keep secrets. I accept the deal and, send some sellers tomorrow, I want to order 10,000 potions. I'll get the money."
Kaly remained seated while Elara went to the safe in her room, she used a combination of passwords and Kaly couldn't see.
"600 gold coins for the potions, if you don't hand them over you know what will happen."
At the mansion, Nyme was sitting under the tree.
"I apologize for keeping you waiting, let's get to work. Darius, recreate yesterday's plants."
While Darius was doing this, Kaly was talking to Nyme and asked her to do some extra work with more people in the village. Nyme knew a few people who could do the job.
"What are their names?"
When Nyme said this, Kaly began to fly to the village, there she asked around for people and when she found them she asked them to accompany her to the mansion.
Darius was just finishing using his magic, when he did Nyme started harvesting, she used water magic to clean the roots, but after a while she started getting water from the mansion. She left it to dry in the sun.
Kaly explained on the way what the job was and everyone accepted.
"For today I want the three of you to build potion boxes, you can find wood over there in that hut, do as much as you can."
Kaly went up to Darius and asked him to use his magic again, he did and Nyme began to gather again, she was tired, but she continued harvesting.
After a few minutes, a maid came to the garden and brought them some sandwiches to eat.
After a few hours, they had the potion boxes and the raw materials to make the potions.
"Now I want you to come back here in the morning, come early. Here's your payment," Kaly said, handing each of them 10 gold coins. For Nyme she handed over 15 coins.
"Are you sure this is the payment?"
"Do you think it's too little?"
"No, not at all. In fact, it's quite a lot."
"I know, don't worry about it."
