Chapter 1 - Episode 1: The Beginning of Emptiness

The soft hum of the air conditioning filled the luxurious gamer's room, a haven for anyone who dreamed of diving into virtual worlds. Every corner of the room was meticulously arranged—a sleek, premium desk reflected the glow of a large monitor, while a gaming chair was designed to support every contour of the body, making it feel like an embrace even in moments of exhaustion.

Ren's gaze locked onto the screen displaying the logo of the game "World Genesis." This game, the crowning achievement of his family, had captured the hearts of players worldwide. It was the pinnacle of virtual reality technology, with its immersive five-sense simulation that made every action and sensation feel breathtakingly real.

Taking a deep breath, Ren pressed the command: "Start Game."

His digital avatar materialized in a stunningly lifelike world. The bustling city around him was alive with activity—players chatting animatedly, the clink of coins exchanging hands in the marketplace, and the tantalizing aroma of virtual street food wafting through the air. Everything was so realistic that it was easy to forget he was sitting in a chair in the real world.

But for Ren, the city held no particular significance.

"Tonight, it ends," he murmured, opening the in-game map. His target: the Castle of Shadows, a forbidden area few dared to approach.

A smirk curved his lips as he took his first steps toward it.

The gentle rustle of grass under his boots was accompanied by the cool night breeze. The silver moonlight glinted off his steel armor, casting a faint glow as it outlined his silhouette. Darkness shrouded the landscape, yet he felt no fear. Instead, a surge of adrenaline coursed through his veins.

"Just a bit further… almost there," he whispered, eyes locked ahead.

Suddenly, the shadows began to shift, and the low growls of gatekeeping monsters filled the air. From the darkness, they lunged at him, fangs and claws glinting in the moonlight.

"Let's get this started!"

Ren moved swiftly, dodging their attacks. His glowing blade sliced through the first monster with precision, its agonized scream echoing into the night. But there was no time to celebrate. More beasts emerged from the shadows, surrounding him.

The clash of steel against claws, the guttural cries of monsters, and the rapid pounding of his heart blended into a chaotic symphony.

Exhaustion crept in, but Ren pressed on. One by one, the monsters fell, their bodies disintegrating into black mist.

"That's done…" he muttered, catching his breath. His eyes moved toward the stone staircase leading to the castle's pinnacle.

The grand hall of the Castle of Shadows was vast and ominous. The scent of death lingered in the air, adding to the oppressive atmosphere. Ren tread carefully, his steps echoing through the cavernous space. His gaze fixated on the figure standing tall in the center of the room.

The Demon King.

"Have you been waiting for me?" Ren whispered, raising his sword.

The battle was fierce and relentless. Blades clashed in a cacophony of sparks, and black blood from the Demon King splattered across the stone walls. Ren channeled every ounce of skill and knowledge into the fight, moving with the precision of a seasoned warrior.

Finally, with one last strike, the Demon King collapsed to the ground.

"Victory…" the system announced in a monotone voice.

Ren stood still, his breathing heavy. He stared at the lifeless body of the Demon King before opening the system interface to claim his reward.

"It was worth the wait…" he murmured, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

Silence descended over the castle hall. Slowly, the Demon King's body began to regenerate from ashes, his eyes glowing faintly in the darkness.

As he rose, his gaze swept across the carnage—the fallen bodies of his loyal followers littering the floor.

He moved toward a specific body, his steps heavy with grief. It was the corpse of his most loyal lieutenant, the one who had stood by his side through countless battles.

"You… remained faithful until the very end," he said softly, his voice trembling.

The Demon King knelt, cradling the lifeless body in his arms. For the first time, tears—thick and crimson like blood—streaked down his face. The pain he had suppressed for so long now surged to the surface, raw and unrelenting.

"I won't let it end like this…"

Rising to his feet, he turned toward the far corner of the hall, where a swirling black void hovered ominously.

"The Abyss."

It was a forbidden force he had sworn never to touch, but now, he had no choice.

"I will change everything… even if it costs my immortal life."

With a resolute expression, he reached out and touched the void. In an instant, his body was swallowed by the darkness.

After logging out of the game, Ren descended the stairs to the dining room, where his family sat together. The room was filled with the faint clatter of utensils and casual chatter. The atmosphere appeared warm, but Ren couldn't shake the feeling that he was an outsider among his own family.

"How was the game today?" his father asked with a smile.

"Same as usual," Ren replied curtly, sitting down at the table.

Something weighed on his mind, a faint unease he couldn't put into words. But it wasn't strong enough for him to voice aloud.
