Chapter 1 - When Life Gives You Lemons

The first thing I remember was my birth mother protecting her belly from my stepfather. He came home drunk again, then coming to beat his pregnant wife. This was an everyday thing, it seemed. These were my first memories of a childhood growing up. I was only 2 at the time, but I remember it, like it was yesterday. It's the same cycle of issues over and over again. always has, it never changed.

My half siblings grew up seeing it as well. I felt they had it better due to the fact that they forgot a lot of it as they got older. It stayed the same for me day in and day out, hearing her scream. One is doing the beating and the other receiving the beating.

It stayed like this stilll I was 6 years old. I remember getting a knok on the door right before school and my parents fighting again while I tried to keep my sibbling happy and distracting while another beating was going on. Being a six year old and raising herself and two other siblings, I was not taught stranger danger at all. So I opened the door. When I did, I saw a big man about 6 feet and a very muscular build blocking the doorway. The man was good-looking and had what looked like a tattoo on his neck that would go down to his back, maybe.

Just staring at him, he looked down at me, nelt down, and asked ( are you Yuki by any chance)? Shaking gym head, yes, I smiled at him. Looking into to his his almost black eyes, I wondered if he was here to save me from this hell whole of a life. As well as my siblings.

"Well, Yuki, I think I have finally found you after 1000 years. Would you like to come with me? I have a warm meal and warm clothes for you to wear."

"What about my sister and brother?" I asked him shyly. Now, don't get me wrong, most times, kids are taught to have a sense of stranger danger, right? But, how can a child have that if they were never taught that. I never was taught that. As I was about to grab his hand. The noise in the other room stopped, and the beating and screaming stopped. The door to that hell room swong open and hit the wall, leaving a hole where the door nob meets the wall.

"WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE!"Said the durnard. The man who had my hand in his looked down at me and smiled warmly at me. Reached out his hand to my check, and I flinched and ran to my sister and brother, throwing myself over them from what was to come next. Knowing all too well that we get hit or worse.

The angel like man looked down at me when I looked up and looked shocked and sad. As my mother staggered out of the room, her eyes lit up with more fear. She ran to her children in a protective motherly way, like she should have done all these years.

"No, please do not take her from me she is all I have left of my family. Not my Yuki, please NO!" She cried over and over again. The dark angel just stood there looking at the living condition and the situation before him. Looking around, he could see trash everywhere, diapers on the floor, a sink full of nasty dishes, and even flies everywhere. Even me and my sibling in a horrible unkempt state.

"When I let you have her, I told you to take treat her well and keep her well. You have not done any of what you have agreed. Not only that, but the state she is in is that of child neglect. I will take her and her sibling. The sibling will be put in a home where they are well looked after, and she will come with me. since you did not keep ur end of the agreement, I do not have to keep mine."

The dark, handsome angel picked up my two siblings and asked me to follow him while the person who I thought was my mother cried hysterical on the floor. That was the last that I saw of that home, and of those so to be called parents

That was when I found out the phrase (when life gives you lemons, make lemonade). That day was taken from a horrible place, and put into a better one. I just did not know how good yet.
