"Everyone can change whenever they want"
Another day comes at the church, the people already done fixing and repairing the destroyed roof few days ago. After they finish repairing it, they immediately start helping those who's fortifying their walls and defenses, the others are repairing some hand-crafted weapons, crafting some things that can help for the war like bombs, booby traps, and other things. Addam was at the bell tower, trying to create a spear like weapon that he can use for short range battle in case he run out ammo. Vins is at the room, resting and getting bored because he can't do anything to help anyone for the war.
"I'm bored!!!!!", he shout when suddenly his wound hurt again, " ouchh ouchh!!".
Kentoki on the other hand was at the plaza helping those people who's building some booby traps for the enemies. He was helping on carrying some stuff that they scavenged few days ago. They almost finish the traps around the all entrances that the bandits will walk in. At the back of the church, Chris and Fionna was at there having a physical training for her, he was making her punch a rice bag full of sand.
"...keep punching it, ignores the pain...straight your elbow when throwing a punch, grip tightly too..", Chris instructed her.
"This is hard as i expected!! Argh! My knuckles!", she said while tears are falling to her cheeks.
Fionna was full of determination to become stronger for herself, and for Vins safety too. Back at the day where Vins got shot, after she saw his unconscious bleeding body, so many possibilities comes to her mind filling it with negativities. She thought that if Vins keep on protecting her, he will just hurt himself and worse kill himself. She doesn't want that to happen that's why she thought it every night if she's gonna learn how to fight for herself or not, but she didn't have any choices, she want to protect him too.
"Arrrrrgh!!! I'm gonna do this for him!!", she shout.
"...oh? Falling in love to him? To my friend?", Chris chuckled and crossing his arm.
"N-no!! I mean..i-i should...i...i mean..i can't...Wahhh!!! Its not like that!!", she stuttering while swaying her hand up and down, blushing.
"...its not like that...i just don't want him...hurting himself anymore..because of me..", she bend her knees, and covering her cheeks, blushing.
Chris smile and just chuckles, he then walk towards her and help her stand up.
"...stand up and continue your training, the enemies will not gonna wait for us to become stronger than them..", he said with a smile on his face.
Fionna smiles back, and stand up quickly continue punching the rice bag full of sand. She got a motivation once again, she smile while remembering Vins on her mind. She will do everything just to stop Vins from sacrificing his life for her.
Afternoon comes, and Fionna just finished her training. She was now walking at the front of the church, she watching the people fortifying their walls for the upcoming wall. She saw a old woman trying to carry some logs to brought it in the wall, she smile and help the old woman by carrying it on the other side.
"Why you carrying these things madam? Is it too heavy for you to work with?", she ask.
"...you sweetie, in this kind of situation? You can't just stand on a side like your some kind of special guest and don't help...its not just for helping others...its for helping yourself too, take a look...you can have conversations to everyone and they can give you some advices you can use in the future..", thr old woman said while carrying the log.
"...can you give any advice for me madam?", Fionna ask.
"...is it about that Vins kid? I heard you two came here together with that kid that died few days ago..", the old woman said.
"...yeah, actually...", she was about to say something but the old woman continue talking.
"...kid, i just advice you one thing, don't let your past trauma get in your future ways..because if you let those past experiences of yours to overwhelme you...you can't focus on one thing, saving ot protecting...fighting or escaping..forget about those trauma you have..", Fionna understand what the old woman said and this gives her a motivation to grew more stronger.
After she finish helping carrying those log, she goes inside to have a cold drink to take off her tiredness. She suddenly stumble upon a group of men that talking about the upcoming war, she listen to them and try to find some information.
"I don't know why we still fighting...its good idea to escape in this war before it happens...", the one with long hair.
"..nah, fight them head on is the best choice! We should show them who's the stronger and who's staying here..", the one with rounded head.
"...but what if we just attack their base without them knowing? That's a good idea too right?", the tall one said.
"Every decision we choose, there's always consequences...so either we escape, fight or surprised them, we wil still face some challenges on it...or maybe worse than that..", the old man said.
Fionna realize that everytime she decide with something, there's always a consequences that will come to them. Even the plan work there's still something that will ruin it completely. She understands now that she need to be careful on deciding what's right for her. After that she then head upstairs to take a rest and later she will continue practicing every moves that Chris teach to her. She goes towards the bell tower and enter to it, seeing Addam creating something.
"What you making? A spear or something", she ask and Addam was startled because of her sudden appearance.
"...don't jumpscare me like that, I'll fell here..", he said with a scared smile.
"..yeah i'm creating a spear for myself...its for a short distance fight, jusr in case i run out ammo here...", he added.
"...uhm can i ask something? How do you see Vins?", she ask.
"..mhm? He was my bestfriend, like a brother to me...older actually, because he was more matured than me...he was very kind to me, and always agreeing on me...i like him more than our other friends..when he's asking you to go out? I'm always besides him, supporting him...i just want him happy ever since that day that he lose everything...house and his father..even money, he need to work just to have something to spend with..", he said.
Fionna realize how Vins is struggling on his life ever since that day, she didn't even know it because she was focus on making her family proud at her, which nothing bad at it, and they are not really close from before. And now, Vins is doing his best to protect her and to take her on a safe place. She felt heavy for some reason just for listening to Addam's words.
"...Fionna, please take care of him...we don't want our friend to just die protecting you, he need to learn how to value his own life..", he said.
"...i will, i don't want him to die after all..", she also said with a smile.
She then comes down and head back where Chris are, she arrives at the back again, and she saw Chris looking on a grave. She approach him and tapped his back.
"..hey, who's the person in the grave?", she ask respectfully.
"...my mother, she died few weeks ago after the apocalypse happened...i just make her a grave for remembrance..", he said while paying respect.
"...remember this, you can't save everyone with the strength you have, even you are stronger than others...you can't still protect or save others...not always..", he said with a sad look and tone.
"...i know, back in our house...we got attacked by a group of thugs..my father and Vins protected us...but he end up ordering Vins to take me away, you know the feeling when...i want to help my father...but i didn't do anything but to cry and try to take on Vins grip...its make me hate myself...after that, i want to die...i told him to leave me alone and escape while he can, but he didn't abandoned me...he kept his promise and beat those thugs and kick their butts...that makes me think that, if i continue to be like this...will i survive without Vins? I ask that myself everynight were sleeping..", she said while looking at the grave too.
"...its hard when you can't save somebody...but their death can become your strength and motivation on becoming more stronger and continue to live...use that to protect my friend..", Chris said with a warm smile on his face.
Chris and Fionna continue having a training for themselves to get stronger and prepare for the upcoming war few days from now. Meanwhile, at the back entrance of the church, Christina Mae Mendez-Joe, Fionna's older sister, approaching a group of peoples in their group talking about something.
"...where you going to take them?", she ask.
The man was leading them was Armando Joe, Fionna's brother in law, they are planning on spying at the enemies base to see what they can find out there.
"We're going to spy to those enemies...we need some information we need to fight them back, wanna come with us hun?", he ask her with a warm smile.
"...fine, but it only because i want to stop you all from doing some dangerous decisions! You got it? No one will ever know that we go out..", she said while taking her gun from behind her.
All of them then walk away from the church and head towards the enemies base to spy on them, and to gather enough intel for them to got advantage at the upcoming war of conquering. Going back at Vins, he was still at the bed resting and bored so much.
"Aaahh!!! I'm literally bored!! Why i can't do anything!!!", he said when suddenly his wound hurt once again.
At this moment, everyone's busy on their own jobs, fortifying their walls to make it more durable, setting some traps to the roads, creating some new weapons that can help them win the war, having their own training, self training and having conversations with everyone they know and everyone they treat as a family. Little did they know, a unexpected events will happen again and it will start the war, in brutal way. Fionna who's having his own training to make herself useful and not just a crybaby who needs protection of a 17 years old senior highschool student. She keep trying her best to become the girl that they can rely on.
At the Black Skull group, the leader Merry was now standing infront of their warehouse gate, like they are waiting for someone to enter inside of the warehouse. Suddenly, the door opens and light shines inside, showing soem figure that standing on the light.
"...hehe, looks like you did what i'm asking you to do...you brought some new recruits for our group...now we can finally take over the whole church just for us....and we will kill those scum kids that keep getting in our way...we already killed two, only three more to go..", Merry starts laughing menacingly and looks at the four higher men he have that standing in the shadow.
"...you guys ready to kill some scum kids? Because i'm ready to sheer their skins off their body!!", he said crazily and start laughing again.
The light slowly disappearing because of the slowly closing of the door. The four man goes behind Merry and stands there, while the traitor just smiles widely.
