Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: "With Such a Powerful Father, Why Doesn’t He Come to Help You?"

The moment Tang San uttered those words, he realized his mistake. But it was too late. Already fuming with frustration, Meng Shu heard the insolent words from a mere junior and instantly erupted in rage. He raised his Dragon Staff, his eyes brimming with murderous intent.

"Since you want to die, I will grant your wish!"

Just as Meng Shu was about to strike, a deep and firm voice interrupted him.

"Meng Shu, hold your hand."

A figure quickly appeared, positioning himself in front of Tang San. But Meng Shu wasn't one to stop easily. Zhao Wuji, seeing no other choice, braced himself to withstand the attack.

As the Dragon Staff struck Zhao Wuji's chest, a muffled groan escaped him. Despite the pain, Zhao Wuji forced a wry smile and said to Meng Shu,

"Senior Meng Shu, may I have a word with you?"

Meng Shu frowned but eventually nodded. With a single tap of his staff, he propelled himself twenty meters away. Curious about what Zhao Wuji could possibly say, he decided to listen. After all, Meng Shu cared little for so-called geniuses. He simply wanted to vent his frustration.

Zhao Wuji quickly followed and began whispering to Meng Shu. Initially, Meng Shu's face displayed shock, but as the conversation continued, his expression darkened. When the discussion ended, Meng Shu's gaze towards Tang San shifted.

Internally, Meng Shu thought, With such a powerful father, why doesn't he come to help you?

In moments of anger and sorrow, people often look for someone else to blame. And Tang San became the target of Meng Shu's frustration. Tang San noticed the peculiar look but, recalling his earlier words, began to sweat nervously.

Fortunately, whatever Zhao Wuji had told Meng Shu seemed to have calmed him down. Tang San, however, had no idea what had transpired.

Looking at the lifeless corpse of the Man-Faced Demon Spider, Tang San felt a pang of regret. It was as though something vital had been taken from him. Unlike in the original story, there was no external spirit bone emerging from the spider. The death had been swift and without the intense rage or hatred necessary to produce such a rare phenomenon.

Meng Shu, already irritable, had struck down the spider without hesitation, leaving no room for the drama to unfold.

Tang San stood dumbfounded, his mind a mess. The others could only remain silent in the tense atmosphere that followed.

Finally, Zhao Wuji broke the silence.

"Senior, how about we split up to search? Waiting here won't accomplish anything."

His suggestion was quickly agreed upon by Meng Shu, Chao Tianxiang, and the others. Before parting ways, Meng Shu handed Zhao Wuji a signal flare from his storage soul tool.

"Zhao Wuji, this flare is for emergencies. If anyone finds something, fire this, and we'll regroup immediately."

Zhao Wuji nodded, and the group dispersed to search for their missing companions.

Meanwhile, Yun Feng, having completed his soul ring absorption, began retracing his steps to the place where the Titan Giant Ape had left them. With his objective achieved, Yun Feng's next goal was clear: he needed to acquire the celestial herbs.

Upon returning to the clearing, Yun Feng saw the unconscious girls lying on the ground. A mischievous smile appeared on his face. Without hesitation, he lay down, resting his head on Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong's legs.

He wasn't worried about misunderstandings. In fact, he welcomed them. Lying down, he reveled in the soft sensation beneath him.

In Yun Feng's mind, Ah Yin, witnessing his actions, felt a pang of discomfort. But she quickly dismissed the thought, questioning why she was even reacting this way.

Moments later, Ah Yin's voice echoed in Yun Feng's mind.

"The Titan Giant Ape is returning."

Yun Feng calmly acknowledged the news. He suspected this meant Xiao Wu was coming back. As the Titan Giant Ape approached, the thousand-year soul beast left behind to guard them quietly departed, seemingly following some unseen command.

Soon, Xiao Wu tiptoed into the clearing. Spotting the others, her gaze fell on Yun Feng, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. She distinctly remembered Yun Feng lying elsewhere earlier. However, noticing the slight twitch of his eyelids, she assumed he was waking up.

Rushing to his side, Xiao Wu crouched down and gently cupped Yun Feng's face, her voice soft and urgent.

"Yun Feng, Yun Feng, wake up~"

As she spoke, Yun Feng's eyelids fluttered, and he turned his head to the side. This movement disturbed Zhu Zhuqing, who immediately woke up.

Seeing Xiao Wu crouched beside Yun Feng, Zhu Zhuqing instinctively checked her own legs. Feeling a weight and dampness, she frowned but relaxed upon realizing it was Yun Feng. Nonetheless, she pulled her legs free, stood up, and rubbed her temples.

"Xiao Wu, do you know what happened here?" Zhu Zhuqing asked.

Xiao Wu shook her head, her expression equally puzzled.

"I just woke up. I don't know the details, but the Titan Giant Ape seems to have left. I wasn't with you all when I woke up, but I followed the path here and found you."

Zhu Zhuqing nodded thoughtfully and began helping Xiao Wu wake the others. Though she didn't voice her fears, Zhu Zhuqing had been terrified when the Titan Giant Ape captured them.

Fortunately, it hadn't harmed them. Instead, it seemed to be playing some kind of strange game.

Soon, with their efforts, Ning Rongrong also stirred awake. Groggily taking in her surroundings, Ning Rongrong suddenly clung to Yun Feng like an octopus, bursting into tears.

Seeing this, Yun Feng sighed helplessly but let her cry it out.
