All the treasure chests were opened one by one, yielding various resources!
Among them, the resources from the dark monsters were the least abundant.
Even though they provided the most loot boxes from kills, the night star monsters yielded better resources.
The most bountiful came from the treasure chests found amidst the brilliance of civilization, each brimming with substantial wealth.
Particularly, the treasure chest from the king-level kill and the special golden-patterned chest, which contained vast amounts of resources and some unique items!
"After all, this is the boss and a monster lair!"
Lucian gathered everything and made an estimate.
The total came to over 72,000 Void Crystals and more than 48,000 Void Source Stones—a significant amount!
As for the rest:
There were miscellaneous items such as "food pouches," "spice bags," and "ten pounds of exotic fruit from the Night Star Tribe."
The equipment and skill books were mostly "junk," of gray quality.
A small number of white-quality common equipment and green-quality rare items weren't even worth mentioning to Lucian.
The terrifying drop rate during the newcomer trial didn't apply to official lords.
For instance, from two bosses:
They dropped only two blue-quality equipment pieces and one blue skill book. It felt stingy.
Thankfully, there was plenty more to search for in the grand hall, leaving Lucian somewhat satisfied.
Moreover, two particularly special items emerged:
The [Body Hater] Transfer Certificate and the [Betrayer of the Stars] Quest Scroll!
[Body Hater]
Type: Transfer Certificate
Quality: Purple
Description: Forsake your human identity, embrace the Flesh Lord, and become a servant of flesh!
"Why is a purple transfer certificate like this?"
Lucian rubbed his temples, clearly exasperated.
This must be related to the destruction of the Night Star Tribe.
He dared not use it!
The so-called "Lord of Flesh" was clearly an evil god.
It's no surprise that being the servant of such a being comes with power—but it demands everything in return.
"This is related to Cthulhu myths, and it's cheaper than most purple transfer certificates," Lucian muttered, turning his attention to the quest scroll.
This was his first time obtaining such an item, though he'd heard others discuss them.
[Betrayer of the Stars]
Type: Quest Scroll
Status: Not activated
Description:
The skies dim! Abandoned by the stars, the Night Star Tribe fell into darkness, leaving only cities as testaments to their former glory. Their undead now wander the desolate wilderness!
Requirements:
Once activated, a Star Beacon will rise within the territory, drawing hordes of dark monsters to attack. Survive for 24 hours!
Rewards: Civilization Legacy Treasure Chest, additional bonuses.
Notes:
The quest scroll will be destroyed upon returning to the real world.
Monsters far exceeding the territory's strength may appear. Proceed with caution!
Activating the quest will incur +10 Doom Points. Success will add another +10, while failure will result in +50 Doom Points.
"I guess I should count myself lucky!" Lucian stroked his chin, pondering.
Quest scrolls and similar materials could come from various sources.
Undoubtedly, the rewards for these quests far surpassed what one could gain from monster lairs!
However, the risks were equally higher.
Watching Lucian deep in thought, Jia Yingchun's beautiful eyes flickered. She teased, "Master, was your haul not good?"
"Hmm? No, it's pretty good!" Lucian chuckled, shaking his head. "Don't worry, you two go ahead and eat."
With that, he stood up and walked out.
Seeing him leave, the two women exchanged glances and let out a sigh of relief.
"When Master doesn't speak, it creates so much pressure," muttered Pan Jinlian with a soft laugh.
Jia Yingchun nodded in agreement. After a moment's hesitation, she added softly, "Actually, Master is even scarier in the palace."
"Huh? Why?"
Pan Jinlian was startled but soon understood.
Her delicate face flushed bright red as she glared at Jia Yingchun. "Sister, stop teasing me! With Master's status, how could someone like me even compare?"
"Hmph! Just wait. Master won't let you off so easily, you little vixen!" Jia Yingchun quipped, casting a jealous glance at Pan Jinlian's ample figure before standing to prepare food.
Hearing this, Pan Jinlian's cheeks flushed even deeper. Her shy yet expectant expression made it clear she wasn't entirely opposed to the idea.
"Doom Points: 7."
"It's only been a day, and taking on this quest will add 20 more points!"
"And that's just for success. Failure would mean an additional 50 Doom Points. If that happens, I might as well pack up and leave."
Walking along the path, Lucian held the quest scroll, deep in thought.
After a moment of hesitation, he set the quest scroll aside and retrieved the two territory buildings he had obtained from the Civilization's Brilliance: the [Seven Rings Tower] and the [Clock Tower].
"They're both special buildings. Looks like my luck stat is still working!"
Lucian smiled.
Many sought civilization's brilliance, only to end up with ordinary buildings like [Residences] or [Wells].
Their value was far inferior!
Lucian first placed the [Seven Rings Tower] on the ground.
The building model expanded in the wind, transforming into a towering structure over 20 meters tall before Lucian.
[Seven Rings Tower] (+)
As Lucian had witnessed its power beyond the barrier, he now carefully examined its attributes. Everything became clear.
This structure was essentially a template requiring the connection of seven different elemental towers of the same level.
Only then could the "Seven Rings" unleash their full power.
It was a high-consumption, long-cooldown, and high-damage defense tower!
"Seven-for-one seems like a bad deal."
"Good thing it can evolve!" Lucian grinned, clicking the upgrade button.
The next moment, five-colored rays of light enveloped the tower, causing it to change form.
Moments later, as the divine glow faded, a strange new tower stood before Lucian!
Standing over 30 meters tall, its structure resembled the Night Star style.
Its walls bore intricate murals depicting scenes of prayers to deities, raging flames, and war-torn battles.
At the top, however, there were no longer seven rings. Instead, a humanoid statue stood prominently!
"I'm...what the hell?!"
Lucian's face twitched.
Without a doubt, the statue resembled him.
Behind it was a starry sky carved from stone, gazing upward with an intense expression.
The design reminded Lucian of the typical overpowered protagonists from cheesy novels.
"What kind of style is this?"
Shaking his head, Lucian opened the attributes panel.
[Child of the Stars Tower]
Type: Defense Tower
Level: 1 (0/1000)
Links: (None)
Effect 1: Linked elemental towers gain double attacks.
Effect 2: Linked elemental towers gain +10% attack damage.
Ammo Reserve: 10/10 (Consumes ammunition when other towers attack.)
Description: Stars converge! I'm here!
"Alright...not bad!"
Lucian's eyes lit up, his mood improving.
This tower was nothing like the awkward [Fart Tower] he'd encountered before.
